About Yvonne & Boyd Fleming
My husband and I built this home ourselves as a summer cottage with our children who at the time were very young and they loved to help. Our cottage has a lot of beautiful memories for us. I wanted to be close to my family so my parents would have the opportunity to see my children grow and for them to know what it's like to grow up in a small community. This land that the cottage sits on has been passed down from generation to generation and has been in my family since the late 1800's. We used this land when I was growing up for hay for our horses.
What makes this Cottage unique
The highlight of this cottage is the view as it's like no other. To be able to watch whales, puffins and other wildlife from the living room or private patio is certainly an added bonus.

Wonderful property, location, and owners
This cottage is a wonderful place to spend your days and nights. The bay just off the back deck is lovely and peaceful. The air smells delicious all the time. The waves and sea birds are enchanting. Within walking distance are multiple hiking trails, and others are within a short driving distance. This is a great home base for exploring the Irish Loop, Avalon Peninsula and NL, in general. The scenery and nature everywhere are stunning. NL is an outdoor playground with much to do and see. Catching a whale frolicking is totally thrilling. This cottage is also a cozy, serene and beautiful place to spend a rainy day in NL. The house is immaculate, and the owners are friendly, fantastic, and happy to enhance your stay. I loved being here. Thank you, Yvonne and Boyd, for sharing your beautiful home.
It was so nice meeting you and sharing stories. Thank you so much for the great review and I'm so glad that you enjoyed your stay in Newfoundland. It really is a special place. I hope you will have an opportunity to visit us again.
Great location, great view!
We had a wonderful time at this super cute cottage. The house is in a great location to explore the Avalon Peninsula. It’s a quick drive from St. John’s and literally right on the East Coast Trail. The hike to La Manche Village starts right up the road from the cottage. The cottage is cozy and very comfortable. The view from the deck is amazing - bring your binoculars and you’ll see tons of birds and whales. It was a great stay!
This is a lovely place to stay. Saw 2 humpback whales in the bay when we arrived! Our second night we ended up with no water and had to contact our Hosts at 9pm. They were amazing , had the pump replaced by the next evening. Thank you for sharing your cottage with us.
Thank you so much for your patience and understanding. So sorry for the inconvenience. I'm glad you saw the humpback whales the night you arrived. They are so beautiful to watch. Enjoy the rest of your vacation in Newfoundland.

Great location for whale watching
Perfect place to set up as a home base for the week. Very clean and comfortable and great views. Close to whale watching tours and St. John’s. Would highly recommend staying here.
Located just 40 kilometres south of St. John's on Route 10 in a picturesque community of Burnt Cove just minutes outside of Tors Cove. The area offers a scenic drive along the Irish Loop and is close to many Tour Boat Operations. The property fronts on part of the East Coast Trail. Hiking to abandoned community of LaManche where there is a suspension bridge. This village was destroyed by a tidal wave back in the 1960's and people were forced to re-settle. This hike takes about 1.5 hours (approximately 5 kilometres). Don't forget to take a short detour to Doctor's Cove. If you're looking for some traditional Newfoundland food the renowned Captain's Table in Mobile is your place. Try out their fish & chips or delicious fish cakes. Ocean View Bakery is just a short walk away where you can enjoy homemade fresh breads and an assortment of cookies. LaManche Provincial Park is only 15 minutes away and offers day use with a swimming area. Try taking the hike to LaManche Falls and go for a dip. Visit St. Michael's Catholic Church which is over a hundred years old and is only a five minute walk from the cottage. If it's gifts or souvenirs you're looking for be sure to go to Alderberry Blum which is located in Bay Bulls. If you like history, the place to go is Ferryland, Colony of the Avalon which is located about 25 minutes from the cottage where there is an archaelogical dig, interpretation centre, gift shop with tradional Newfoundland gifts and a display of the finds. While you're there take a short walk out to Ferryland Head Lighthouse and enjoy a picnic overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Also, in this area during the summer months they have a dinner theatre with local talent. Be sure to make reservations.
