A fine stay
This was our third trip to Potter County but the first time we tried a different property owned by this owner. Although he sent me the correct address via email, I looked at the VRBO listing, which has the wrong address, and initially couldn't find the house. Luckily, it wasn't far and, once found, all was well. Guys working on a neighboring property did some target shooting one afternoon, which was a bit disconcerting. They were friendly enough, though. We were blessed with clear skies and good company. The beds were clean and comfortable and everything we needed was on site. It was a great relaxing weekend with as much--or as little--to do as we wanted. VRBO should consult with the owner and correct its address listing.
We're so glad you had clear skies, Michele! And so honored that you have graced us with your presence, once again, to enjoy the amazing views we have here of the stars, the moon and the Milky Way!
We also have a "retro" house, in town (Coudersport), that we just opened last year and I am currently renovating a charming cottage, right next to our log cabin. We hope you will come back to stay in one of those!
Lovely setting, wonderful view
The cabin was set by a burbling stream at the bottom of a tree-lined hill. A wonderful view of the stars was available from the back deck and front porch. One thing visitors should keep in mind: Our GPS sent us on some rather rough unpaved roads, such as the literal Back Road. You may want to first set a course for a store in Coudersport and then navigate to the cabin from there along Route 872.
So Glad you and the group had a great time at the Cabin JT. Yes the back road is truly a back road. Entering from Pa Rt 872 is best. Nice you had clear sky's too. You are welcome back anytime at all. hanks for your visit.
Great place. Great host.
Pictures are spot on. House had everything necessary included. Just bring family and food.
Fantastic house and the lawn! Great for star gazing and some light sports.
Fantastic house and the lawn! Great for star gazing and some light sports. The house is clean and spacious, has big tables for meal and board games.
Thank you for your kind words. We are so glad your group had an amazing time star gazing with us. You were very good guests, thank you
Please return for another get away soon.
Thank you again
Spacious place for star gazing
Coming here from NYC was a huge relief for us. Our mission was to find a place near Cherry Springs Park for some serious star gazing. What we got was a 4 bedroom ranch house that my toddler daughter could run back and forth from. There was plenty of room for me and my 5 family members. The house is about 15 min away from the market, so it was easy to stock up on goods.
Also, given how few houses were around, we could easily see the Milky Way from the year.
If you want a secluded place to relax and disconnect while being awed by the universe, this is a great place to stay.
Property sits adjacent to stream and state forest. Paved road sees light traffic. Nearest neighbors about 600 yards away, but they are weekend or holiday occupied only.
Rental was clean. Only exception was master bedroom where a furry critter had stored nuts under the bed. Never saw the critter so I suspect it was evicted and the nuts overlooked. Plenty of room inside with covered porch on front and two decks on the back. Satellite TV but only one receiver worked. Propane and electric heat. No land line phone but you can receive cell service. Well water has high sulfur content, so bring bottled water along for drinking and cooking. It is ok for bathing. Mattresses feel cheap at first but we slept well. Firepits are overgrown and not useable without wotk. Propane grill burner is rusted out and useless. Gave it 4 stars for size and working amenities. Deducted 1 star for water quality and slighty busy road during the day. At night the road is mainly quiet. Plenty of land in the state forest for hiking is a plus.
Thank you Alan & Peggy for returning as our guests to our cabins. We hope you were able to take advantage of the cabin’s 3 open acres for some great star gazing. We strive to provide an ultra clean cabin for getaways & we will be installing a new water treatment system this week to take care of this issue you brought to our attention. The trout stream and backing to state forest offer a unique outdoor environment, I trust your pups enjoyed them. Again, thank you and you are welcome back anytime. Chris
