About Brook Starr, a Hawaii Licensed Realtor
Born and raised on Maui in the area known as 'upcountry', Hana has always been a place for us to visit and unwind, enjoy some surf on the unique black sand beaches, hike around, and reconnect. We hope you can share in the experience as well.

Why Brook Starr, a Hawaii Licensed Realtor chose Hana
Surrounded by lush green trees in close proximity to town and beaches, very clean and newly renovated, this house has become our home away from home. We love being with the family in Hana to play at the beach, surf together, enjoy Hana's quiet and beautiful surroundings to unwind and recharge. It's a tropical paradise.
What makes this House unique
After searching for some time, we saw this Hana Bay View home as the perfect opportunity and location to take in all that Hana has to offer. We gave the house some love and attention, renovated it and let it shine. We now want to share it with travelers from all over the world who want to experience Maui's East side beauty in a convenient location for a reasonable price.

A week in Hana
Great experience with this property, absolutely nothing bad at all about staying here.
Short stay in Hana
We stayed in Hana for 2 nights and our experience was enjoyable. We got to enjoy everything without rushing through.
The owner was very honest and left lots of written tips in the house that were very helpful. We also got the info for the condo well before we got there so we were able to print it and got in no problem. Thank you for the great stay in Hana!
Centrally located to pure Hana bliss.
Our family rented all three units on the property and it worked out perfectly. Parking was adequate (4 vehicles max probably) and the units were just as described. The added A/C in the bedrooms was a nice bonus from the last time we rented here and everything was clean and well outfitted for our family. Thank you for a wonderful stay and we will be back!
Hana Bay View
We enjoyed our time in Hana it was quiet and very relaxing.
Couple things would have helped us with our stay, we had no beach towels as promised in our hall closet, there was no brush at the BBQ to clean the grill, some instructions on how to use the TV’s and maybe a extra bath towel and kitchen towel. Not things that would ruin a vacation just things that would have made it smoother.
The diference between what I was told i would get and what i got
Prior to my three day stay in Hana I stayed 9 days at the Kamaole Sand in KiHei. The price of the two rentals is comparable. The facility in Hana is not comparable. Hana is nice. The people are nice. This rental was not. The door in the bathroom has no door nob. (photos are available for everything I say) the bathroom has what we call grease aunts. There are aunt traps in the kitchen cabinets but none in the bathroom. The kitchen cabinets are used and look used. I had to defend myself from a black wasp (i am allergic, anaphalactic shock will occur and I will likely die if bitten). The picture you posted does not show the steep grade and the driveway that dives down from the street. The Picture also does not show the huge hedge that is now in front of the cottage. The Picture on your web site made me accept this place the real picture would have caused me to reject it. The fan in the kitchen area has the most annoying hum. The hum is in the video I shot. The day I arrived the place must have had a temperature of over 90 degrees. Not very inviting. I am used to central A/C. It took me over an hour to make that place comfortable. The entire upstairs was obviously homemade. It has the look of a homemade place. The shelves in the closet in the right side BR are not level 3 are lower on the left than they should be. I could not find measuring spoons to make coffee. The water, even with a filtering system, was awful. The bathroom tile is out of date with several cracked tiles. I was told the owner would not be there and I would have the place to myself. The Owner was there Friday and Saturday. They were NOT loud or obnoxious. They did not bother me but you said they would not be there. I am a private, quiet person. You should remove this listing. It is inadequate, misleading and compared to two others I saw that were less expensive much too expensive. I feel cheated. I expect some kind of an adjustment to be made. I did no damage to the space as my video, taken Monday morning will show in detail.
Ideal location for exploring Hana and RTH sites
Air conditioners and fans in bedrooms were essential on our trip. The living room was warmer with only a fan, but our family of four cozied up in the master bedroom for movie nights. Eating out on the balcony for breakfasts and dinners was good too.
The location is convenient and allowed us to go up the road to Wai'napanapa State Park before it got busy and to explore beaches such as Red Beach, Koki, and Hamoa. Small grocery stores are nearby and open early in the morning. We watched sunrise at Hana Bay which is minutes away.
Communication was great and issues were dealt with promptness.
We're located in the rural town of Hana, on the East side of Maui. There are beautiful beaches nearby, including Hana Bay, a 10 minute walk away, and Hamoa Beach, a 10 minute drive down the road, consistently named one of the most beautiful beaches in America, where we like to spend our time surfing, swimming with the kids, and lounging under the shady trees.
Lots of hiking to see waterfalls and swimming in fresh water pools, including Oheo (Seven Sacred Pools) that is part of the U.S. National Park Service and Waianapanapa State Park that has a cool volcanic grotto you can swim in, a black sand beach, and a blow hole along the coastline.
There's also a park with swings, shade trees, bathrooms and skate park about a 2 minute walk away.
Or just relax on the covered deck, play some cards, board games, read a book, or enjoy a movie or two via the wireless internet on your computer or tablet, or rent a movie from Hasegawa General Store and watch it on the flat screen TV in the living room upstairs.
There are many mom and pop places to eat, including a bright orange burrito food truck right in town with great burritos, coffee and pastries that is owned/operated by Andy and Tuna, a brick oven pizza place, thai food stop, other 'plate lunch' stops, and fresh organic fruit and veggie stands where much of the food is grown organically right here in Hana.
There are two main general stores in town to get most of your basic necessities. If you want a large variety of food to choose from though it may be wise to get some provisions from the main part of the island before you head out to Hana. Our favorite food store on the island is Mana Foods, in the town of Pa'ia on the North Shore, where they're loaded with fresh, natural and organic grocery shopping, a deli, bakery and vitamin room. Although, we also frequent Hasegawa's General Store and the Hana Ranch Store in town during our stays.
The road out to Hana itself is half the treat, with dramatic scenery of the cliff-lined coastline, a couple of fruit stands (including a mobile creperie along the road in the jungle as you begin your journey!), and lots of hikes from trail heads off the road. As with any adventuring please be cautious and aware of your surroundings and weather conditions while enjoying the outdoors.
A tip for the drive out to Hana, pack a lunch with snacks and drinks, don't rush it, and pull over for faster drivers if they come up behind you. There are many pull-out spots, the drivers behind you will appreciate it, and you can relax and really soak in the beauty.
There is one gas station in Hana town, and none along the 2-hour drive from the main towns on the other side of the island, so fill up before you get here.
Hana is a tropical paradise, which means it has little critters like mosquitoes, or ants at times, and don't be surprised by the odd chicken or two, mongoose, (cows, there's a beautiful working cattle ranch) or other wildlife in an around Hana town and the East side of the island. Our home is usually nice and breezy, and we have quarterly treatments of the outside and inside of the home with natural repellents, so there should be little activity of small critters, however, closing screen doors and cleaning up food after eating is always a good idea. We have some mosquito repellent there if you need it, just in case. And if you have any problems please let us know.
Our location is very convenient to the beaches, sites and stops in Hana, with great views, and as can be seen from the photos and mapping, we are in a residential setting. Like most neighborhoods there can be typical activity like kids playing, neighborhood dogs barking occasionally, and some rural road noise. We have a large solid redwood fence along the rural road and plantings around the property to make you feel tucked away. Feel free to get in touch with us to answer any questions you may have.
The 2br/1ba rental rate is $199/night, a one-time cleaning fee of $65 plus taxes and fees, which you can reserve yourself online. Maximum number of guests is 4.
If you have additional members in your party please call or email us, we can refer you to additional rentals in the immediate area to accommodate everyone.
We hope you enjoy your stay!!!
