About Ross and Norma Nickerson
We purchased the land in 1984, camped on it periodically until 2004 then decided to build the log home. We are both teachers and have been living in Montana since 1995. We love Montana and think our home on the Yellowstone River in the Paradise Valley is the best possible get-away in the world. We love the outdoors, wildlife, and scenic views!
Ross and Norma Nickerson purchased this House in 2005
Why Ross and Norma Nickerson chose Pray
It is so close to Yellowstone, why not this property! Plus, the views are amazing. Our favorite thing to do in the evening is to sit in the living area, turn off all the lights, and gaze at the brilliant stars out the catherdal windows. There's so much to do during the day and it's relaxing by night.
What makes this House unique
The Yellowstone River is ever-changing...each season brings a new look, more rocks to overturn and admire, and different fishing holes. The catheral windows look southwest to the high mountain peaks of the northern edge of Yellowstone National Park. The deer roam around the house and down by the river. People raft by in the summer either fishing or simply enjoying a warm day. Most importantly to us, it is only 20 miles from the northeast entrance of Yellowstone which gives us plently to see and do every day!

House was exactly as describe, Great location. Views are etched in my mind forever.
Several generations ago, my family homesteaded the Emigrant area and built a life in Paradise. More recently, my grandfather was one of the last blacksmiths in YNP. My mother and her siblings were raised running around Mammoth and the whole valley.
YRR was home base for a family exploration of our heritage and YNP. Ross and Norma have a simply amazing place and we were privileged to enjoy it for 8 glorious nights. The house is beautiful, well stocked, and very comfortable. The loft was a perfect place for my teen daughters and bedrooms were wonderful. We all enjoyed the trails to the river, sunsets from the porch, and horseshoe pits outside. There was plenty of room to gather, laugh, cook together, and plan our many adventures to YNP, Jardine, pioneer cemeteries, Emigrant, and Livingston.
Thank you so much for your excellent communication, wonderful advice, fantastic home...we will be back!!

Fantastic Vacation and Location!
This was our 2nd time staying here. The property owners are great and easy to communicate with. And the home...absolutely beautiful!!
Good tasteful property
Excellent stay and well kept and stocked home
Beautiful Montana getaway close to Yellowstone National Park.
The Yellowstone River Retreat is fantastic! It is WELL stocked with everyday essentials and also with things that you didn’t realize you forgot! The house is beautiful, each of our kids had their own comfortable space and there’s plenty of room to spread out. The views from every window can’t be beat, we were able to move from window to window and watch deer and an elk graze in the yard. It’s about a 30 minute drive to the north entrance at Yellowstone. Ross and Norma were very easy to work with and quick to answer any questions we had. Will definitely return to the house if we venture to Yellowstone again in the future!
Birding, Blue Ribbon Trout Fishing, Canoeing, Fishing Ponds, National Park Touring, Hot Springs Soaking, Yellowstone National Park's Northern entrance is a 20 minute drive, and Chico Hot Springs is a 15 minute drive.
