About this property

Sweet Little Cabin in the Trees....

Welcome to The Cabin on Creekside Commons. This secluded getaway offers the best of both worlds: a beautiful, rural setting with an easy 10 minute drive (or 30 minute scenic bike ride) to both downtown Eureka and downtown Arcata.

Creekside Commons is a beautiful jointly owned five acre retreat in the heart of the redwoods. Our goals include eliminating boundaries and pursuing common goals when possible. One goal we have in common, is to be able to provide a healing and restful retreat for our guests. Whether you choose to stay at the Cottage or the Cabin we hope your stay with us is rejuvenating and adventuresome.

Step outside and into an enchanted redwood grove,, enjoy fresh vegetables from our organic garden, luxuriate with an outdoor shower or hot tub, meditate in your own redwood sanctuary grove, spend an evening by the fire pit.

We are excited to be able to offer an on site massage therapist. Ryan Knotts has 9 years experience as a massage therapist and is trained in many massage/bodywork modalities including:
Swedish techniques for those who want a relaxing massage that increases circulation and decreases stress, deep tissue/ therapeutic body work for those who have specific ailments, clothed body work and energy massage for those who prefer a stretching style or Reiki style massage and acupressure for those who prefer pressure point and meridian therapy. His focus is on listening to the body and breath, and finding ways to work with the client to exact real change in the muscles and overall health.

There's plenty to see and do in the area. Enjoy events such as the Kinetic Sculpture Race, North Country Fair, Film Festivals and weekly farmer's markets. Humboldt county has multiple wine tasting rooms and craft beers. Live music and theatre are cornerstones of Humboldt county culture. For the outdoor adventurer, enjoy the majestic redwood forests, guided birdwatching tours, miles of coastal beaches and sunny days at inland rivers.

Rodents and spiders oh my!
First off, let me start by saying the land surrounding this cabin is absolutely beautiful. This is actually the second time we decided to rent the cabin. The hosts are nice and welcoming and the cabin itself is beautiful and decorated artistically as well. However this time, we noticed that there appears to be a pest problem as well as issues with cleanliness. When first walking into the cabin, I noticed a pungent odor. I decided to look past this because my husband associated the smell with possible essential oils. Later that night, a spider crawled up my sleeve, falling behind the bed after I shook him off. This prompted us to look behind the head of the bed where there were piles of rodent droppings and urine. In the midst of looking for the spider, we also noticed that there was rodent droppings in the blankets. Unfortunately, we did not find rat droppings until about 10:30 at night. Risks associated with being exposed to rodent droppings can vary from nil to severe so we decided to leave and get a hotel. My only other qualm is that the towels and blankets also appear to be very old. Just because I have dogs doesn’t mean I need to be given the stained and old blankets to use. Spend a bit of money to purchase new ones. Myself and others are spending money to stay here. I was hesitant to leave a review as we were refunded thus rectifying the situation for us, and the cabin itself is charming, however the cabin really needs a thorough cleaning before it can be rented out

Just what we needed...
Honestly it was perfect. Definitely snug, but with the woodstove it is very cozy. It's beautiful, has everything you need and is a great place to unplug and relax. I sincerely hope to return again. Thank you John!

Fun artsy getaway
We enjoyed our visit, especially the hot tub after a weekend of dancing at the Music Festival. The grounds are quirky and cool, since this is an artists' retreat venue. The place was clean, and the host was great. Missing a star due to the bed being a bit saggy (not a problem if you're single). If you need wi-fi to work, the wi-fi was slow and intermittent. Not a big problem for us. But, good to know if you need that. We would stay here again for sure.
