we had to cancel because of the COVID 19
but, Yves was very kind and understanding
Accommodations, neighborhood, nearness to points of interest and public transportation were all ideal. This is an entire second floor home , including washer and dryer and dishwasher. Be aware that you need to provide your own toiletries, hand and shower soap, and all paper products (including tp) so you do not get caught unprepared. Market is only 2-1/2 blocks away. Extremely nice landlord couple lives downstairs.
Spacious, well appointed apartment
Yves was a great host, and kindly accommodated both our late arrival and early departure. The apartment easily hosted our large family comfortably and was quickly designated as “the group meeting / hangout as the littlest sleeps” location. The physical location is fantastic as well. Easy walk to many restaurants, the metro, and the famed Jean-Talon market. We would gladly stay here again. The unit does not have an AC, a tea filter, measuring cups or measuring spoons, but it does have fans available in every room and we got creative with measuring and filtering things. :)
Perfect for our group
The apartment was exactly as appears in the photos but the rooms were actually bigger than I imagined. We were a large group of 8 people and there was enough room for everyone. The two porches were lovely; the back porch, covered with vines and quite private. The kitchen had everything we needed to make elaborate meals. The area was perfect. Every day we shopped at the market; every evening we enjoyed the park. Thank you, Yves.
Great place--needs some updates
The apartment was spacious, clean, has a sky-light, and is nicely decorated and is in a great neighborhood with friendly people and many small restaurants and bars. It is also close to a nice park and to public transportation. The owner is friendly and helpful. He provided maps and travel books about the city.
However, the television is an old CRT and the furniture is uncomfortable. The bed in the "master" bedroom sits directly on the floor so you have to be something of a gymnast to get out of it in the morning. There is only one bathroom so staying with multiple people can be awkward. There is also no air conditioning which probably only matters in August. The stairs are very ornate and typical of Montreal but they are a tough climb so would not be a good choice for young children or the elderly.
I would highly recommend this apartment if your desire is to be immersed in Montreal's culture and experience life as a Quebecer.
