Why Tommi Crow chose Seneca
I fell in love with Lake Keowee after a visit 20 years ago. It is the most pristine lake I have ever seen. Its teal blue waters and white sand beaches are so clear, that they can teach scuba diving here. Lake Keowee is like being on many different lakes at the same time. The mid and south end of the lake are wide open, with forever vista's and sunset views. Traveling northward up the Lake, as elevation increases, the terrain becomes mountainous, with emerald green and cooler water temps, waterfalls, cliff jumping and with river like curves, bluffs and rock outcroppings. The lake is very 'high' end. Just cruising and looking at the gorgeous mansions and homes is a joy in itself. Also, the 350 miles of shoreline ensure that you are never bored and something new is always around the corner. To top it off, this natural beauty and serenity is also located near Seneca and Clemson where shopping, dining, movie theatres and nightclubs are plentiful. Although Lake James and some of the lakes closer to Asheville are beautiful..none compare to Keowee. Added bonus..the prestigous Highlands of North Carolina and a dozen waterfalls are within minutes of the lake. Lake Keowee offers the absolute best of everything and the natural beauty of the area is unsurpassed.
What makes this House unique
I loved this house the minute I saw it. The level, sandy shoreline and the privacy in a large, open cove were very unique to this area and this lake. Many homes on Keowee are located in the backwash area's or deadend coves with unsafe swimming conditions, low, murky water levels and are surrounded by other boat docks, houses, etc. In addition, many are always shaded and in the dark, or the lots are so steep I would have to debate how bad I wanted to go the the water or back to the house. Well, not this house. This home offered 2 acres of privacy, 505 feet of level sandy shoreline, sunset views and its own boat ramp. The house itself has a great floorplan. It is an updated one-level ranch without stairs or steps. The master bedroom and the Jr master are located on opposite ends of the house, which is great for privacy and both have their own entrance. The floor to ceiling windows allow the lake to come indoors and the water views are amazing from nearly every room in this house. It is warm, comfortable and it is laid out perfectly for guests with different idea's about what an ideal vacation is. If you want action, games, etc. there are perfect area's for that. If you would rather read, sunbath or take a nap...there is the ideal spot for that , too. And, a Guest House??? How perfect is that? You can't find this anywhere else on Keowee. The guest house is completely self-sufficient and sits right on the water. It is cozy, comfortable and allows some guests a complete home of their own. I loved the fact that none of my guests would be stuck in a basement. From the fruit orchard and western sunsets to the rock fireplace, I knew this home was the one for me the minute I saw it.

Great family week
Fourth visit to this great house
Can't wait to see you next summer!! So glad to be the hostess of Campwiesel :)
We love coming to this property because of its beauty and peacefulness. The house is located in a quiet cove surrounded by trees and a large sloping yard. Meals on the deck overlooking the lake and sunsets were just one of our favorite things. We shall return.
Margaret, it makes my heart happy to know what a nice time your family had at the lake. Please come back again soon. Don't make it as long between visits as last time.
Thank you for taking such good care of everything.
We stay on the lake for a few weeks every summer, and this house was great. Great location in a great cove on the south part of the lake. Much closer to town than we are used to which was a big help. Great big dock was a lot of fun for fishing. we had a pontoon and 2 jets skiis and there was more than enough room for everything. House was clean, lots of room for everyone, and the teens loved staying in the guest house. Great communication from the landlord. We would without a doubt stay here again. I only had two issues with the house. The pots and pans and microwave seem very outdated. Most pans which we use a lot were warped, and wouldn't sit flat on the stove. That was difficult because we cook a lot. The other was the fact that the power lines were a big surprise. We didnt mind them, and it wouldnt prevent us from staying again, however it would have been nice to know that they were right on the adjacent property. All in all other than the weather, it was a great trip. And like they all day, a rainy day on the lake, is still better than a sunny day just about everywhere else.
Matthew, thank you so much for the kind words. I would have done anything to give you more sunshine, but I am happy you had a wonderful time, in spite of the spring thundershowers.
I am sorry you had an issue with the cookware. Some guests put everything into the dishwasher, which causes that problem. It is also hard on the knives, though I try to keep them sharpened. I will replace those pots and pans that are difficult to use on the glass top stove. Wish I could find pots and pans that tolerate abuse and keep their shape....but, I tried for years, without success. The microwave is about 3 years old...so, I am not sure what I can do about that....
I so wish I could get rid of power lines everywhere, including the adjacent lot, but I don't think Duke would approve. Keowee is a power lake owned by Duke. Power lines are just a part of the landscape all around the lake. Thank goodness they don't spoil the view from the house...and, we have that teal blue water, sunsets and lots of wildlife to view.
I hope you come back and stay with us, again. I really enjoyed working with you. Thank you for taking such good care of the property. I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer!
