Decent cabin in nice lush environment
Overall our impression of the cabin was good. When we saw the cabin for the outside, we were a little worried, but inside it was very nice. It had all the amenities that we needed. We cook a lot, and the kitchen was well equipped. The cabin was clean and comfy. spacious enough. We were there with three adults and 2 young kids. What we did not like is the lack of lights. some areas of the cabin were very dark, even during the day (you are in the middle of the forest). More lights are needed on the second floor, in the kitchen and in the side room. A window in the side room would make such a difference for whoever stays in that room. The swimming pool and play ground area were awesome!
Thank you for your review for rustic Cabin #86! We are very happy to hear that you had an enjoyable stay overall, and will pass your kudos regarding the cleanliness of the cabin onto our housekeeping team. They will be equally thrilled! We will also pass your comments regarding the lighting onto the property owner. While we haven't receive any complaints of this nature in the past, the owner is always very receptive to hearing about Guest impressions. We're happy to hear that you had an opportunity to take advantage of the community's seasonal recreational amenities. Many thanks for the neat and tidy way in which you left the cabin upon departure. It was a pleasure hosting you. We would highly recommend you to other hosts, and we look forward to seeing you again during your next visit to Mt. Baker :) Happy trails, Dan
Great for a relaxing weekend away
My family and I had a wonderful time during our visit. This cabin is fully stocked with just about everything you need to spend a couple days off the grid. We found it quite clean and very homey. Just as the reviews say, the stairs are quite steep and narrow to the upstairs bedrooms, so our less-able parents stayed in the bedroom on the first level.
One thing that irked us a bit was on a Saturday evening, around 9:30pm, we were sitting on the deck chatting after a late dinner, and a man came by, not sure if he was a park ranger or what, and he very sternly told us that our level of noise would not be okay in an hour. My guess is that they’ve had trouble with noise levels in the past, but we were literally just chatting at a normal level, and it was only 9:30p! My elderly parents were definitely not going to be awake in an hour anyways! Anyways we just continued talking outside and went inside at around 10pm. Just seemed a little unnecessary to be so abrupt with us when we were doing nothing wrong. Also, the cabins are all very close together, so it’s almost impossible to not be heard or hear your neighbors who are only a few yards away. Other than that, the pool was a bit further from the cabin than we anticipated, but it rained most of our stay so it didn’t matter. We ventured out into the park and saw a beautiful waterfall and drove to the top of the mountain. Overall it was a relaxing few days.
Thank you for the great review for rustic family Cabin #86! We are delighted to hear that you had an enjoyable stay, and that you had an opportunity to take advantage of the outdoor deck (and hopefully the BBQ) while you were there. Unfortunately, we are at a bit of a loss as to who the "man" was, as we didn't hear anything from neighboring homeowners or the community manager during your stay. Many thanks for the ship shape way in which you left the cabin upon departure. It was truly a pleasure hosting you. We would highly recommend you to other hosts, and we look forward to seeing you again during your next trip to Mt. Baker :) Happy trails, Dan
The cabin was cute and clean and the reviews gave us a good idea of a few of the quirks, especially the stairs.
Even on a bright day, there is very little natural light and even with the lights on, it was difficult to see much in the upstairs bedrooms. At 6'2, the beds were quite short and my feet were hanging off the end of the bed. We were disappointed that there was no outdoor firepit, especially with two little kids. Unfortunately, the fishing pond was closed with no real explanation as to why.
Thank you for the 4-star review for rustic Cabin #86! We are very happy to hear that you had an enjoyable stay overall. Yes, at times the cabin can be a little dark inside...it's definitely rustic and a bit eclectic. The gated resort-recreational development in which the cabin is located highly "discourages" the use of outdoor fire pits. One little mishap in the heavily wood and often tinder dry area, and the whole community could potentially go up in flames, so we respect the community sentiments regarding this. Don't know why the fishing pond was closed. It's generally open by this time of year. Perhaps they are late in having it re-stocked(?). Thank you for the neat and tidy way in which you left the cabin upon departure. It was a pleasure serving you. We would highly recommend you to other hosts, and we look forward to seeing you again during your next trip to Mt. Baker...perhaps in one of our other cabins or condos. Happy trails :) Dan
Great little rustic cabin
It might not suit the granite countertop crowd, but I love it. Only complaint is I couldn't figure out how to turn the heat down - it was either 72F or off! That said, the house was just the right temperature. I'll stay again.
Thank you for your review for rustic family Cabin #86! You hit the nail right on the head; it is definitely not for the high-end crowd, but rather for persons who are specifically seeking rustic, basic, and clean accommodations during their stay at Mt. Baker. Sorry that you were experiencing difficulties with the thermostat on the fireplace. We discovered that someone had programmed it to operate at 72 degrees. Please know that whenever you are experiencing a particular issue or just have questions in general, the cabin is equipped with a land line, and we are just a quick phone call away. Many thanks for the neat and tidy way in which you left the cabin upon departure. It was a pleasure hosting you, and we look forward to seeing you again during your next trip to Mt. Baker :) Happy trails, Dan
Cozy and rustic cabin
The snowline community is super friendly and a great place to bring the kids. The cabin was clean and comfortable but the loft stairs to get to the two bedrooms upstairs would not be suitable for small kids or people with mobility issues. Our kids loved the video games. Overall a great little cabin that fit the 4 of us well.
Thank you for the great review for rustic Cabin #86! We are delighted to hear that you had an enjoyable stay, and hope that you had an opportunity to take advantage of the new indoor electric fireplace and outdoor gas grill that were recently provided. Good point regarding the stairs, as they are rather narrow and steep. Parents with small children should practice strong supervision. Many thanks for the neat and tidy way in which you left the cabin upon departure, and for your repeat patronage! We would highly recommend you to other hosts, and we look forward to seeing you again during your next trip to Mt. Baker :) Happy trails, Dan
