Booking process went smoothly for the most part and Cynthia was responsive when asked for updates in info prior to the trip.
She left a message that we could arrive at any time and the door would be unlocked. Upon arrival the door was locked and we were unable to get in for an additional 1.5-2 hours. We just did some sight seeing around New Buffalo which wasn't a big deal. Comparing the picture to what is seen on the outside is very different, landscaping needed some attention, overgrown trees/bushes, weeds, cob webs. Could tell it hadn't had much attention. Tree branches scratched my husband's truck. Once we got in, home was in desperate need of some attention/TLC.
Green carpeting has stains all over it and spots that looked like food but couldn't come off of the carpet. Flooring was peeling up, missing/broken fire detector. Still unclear if there ever was a carbon monoxide detector or if it had been taken by prior person staying there, large hole in screened in porch and door broken/large hole in door from screened in porch, bugs/cob webs in house. I contacted Cynthia regarding the fire detector and carbon monoxide detector and she came the next day to replace them and do some landscaping. She was responsive to issues yet it's concerning that it was taken care of before arrival. The home is in a great location, If the home just got a little TLC/maintenance it would be a great place to return to but as is would not go back to this home.
How sad how sad..that people do NOT appreciate a responsive owner. There was a mistake on checkin because the cleaning lady forgot to leave the door open..Within forthy five minutes we had the house unlocked. The client held on to late check as a SIN and kept talking about it the entire three days she was there.. On a HOLIDay weekend we were able to get the carbon moxide detector change.....instead of a thank you ..this client complained.. we had a check ioday with a client who has been coming for over ten years and i felt like she said it all.. She said it is so wonderful to be at this comfortable home....I am so glad that we can accomodate resonable people who appreciate owner responsiveness
Convenient location, great wifi
We enjoyed our week in New Buffalo. Our rental was convenient to all it has to offer and had the right amount of space for our family. The wifi was pretty fast. It was nice to be able to bring our dog with us on vacation. The cottage was clean and had decent mattresses in the bedrooms, but otherwise the place was pretty tired. The couches were run down and uncomfortable, the fridge and carpet are repaired with duck tape, and the carpet was also old and stained. The kitchen has plates for 5 people and really old pans. None of these things are a huge deal as we spent the week at the beach. The place has laundry which is a plus. The owner was responsive to all questions and accommodating.
I was very disappointed to read this review. I have had no other complaints about the furnishings or the kitchen. It was not advertised as a gourmet kitchen. It is a family vacation home in an ideal location with central air, screened in porch, cable in the living room and bedroom and a great instant light fireplace. The proximity to downtown and the beach is wonderful..
We enjoyed our stay
Great house, great location!
We had a blast at this house! Perfect for our family, spacious and close to everything!
Thank you for the kind comments. The house lends itself to a good time and enjoyment of visitors who would like to walk to town and to the beach. The enjoyment of this house does not cease on Labor Day weekend. The attached screened in porch makes it a wonderful place for gathering with friends and family over a week or long weekend in the fall and winter..Being a fairly recent new build the home has updated appliances and fresh feeling bathrooms..
Nice size house in convenient New Buffalo location
This property was pretty much everything we could have hoped for on our last minute trip. It had plenty of space for our family of 5. Walkable to downtown. AC, dishwasher, laundry, etc. the landlord even was able to come let us in when we locked ourselves out!
The only issue we had was that the wireless network was never worked. We ended up using an Xfinity hotspot instead & didn't push the issue.
All in all we would stay again and recommend to anyone!
Thank you so much for the nice review. Station House is a fairly newly built home so it has all the conveniences of a modern home...The wi fi does work...something was off but it is working for present visitors. My favorite feature is the screened in porch off the kitchen...The fall is beautiful on that porch..
