About Darcie Sly
I'm a mom of two great kids, a realtor and a decorator who lives in Saint Louis. It has always been a dream of mine to own a lake house. When I found this sweet little log cabin, I couldn't resist buying it. I filled it with everything I love and try to spend as much time there as I can. It has always brought me a lot of joy to share my cabin with my friends and family. About a year ago, I decided to share it beyond my circle of family and friends and offer it for rent to others. I love reading the reviews that people write in my guest book. My fiance' and I recently bought another cabin across the lake from this one and we had a lot of fun fixing it up! That cabin will accommodate larger groups (up to 10) and it has 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths. Check out listing 113150 if you want to check it out.

Why Darcie Sly chose Pacific
I love this property for so many reasons, but the reason that I bought it was because it was close enough to St Louis, where I live full-time, that I could actually envision really getting to use the cabin even when my kid's schedules and clients keep me busy. I love the location of the cabin on this little lake. It's very near the spillway, so if the lake is high enough, it creates a little waterfall that can be heard from my cabin, especially after a heavy rain. I love that the kitchen still has the original metal cabinets and the old sink. It leaks a little but I kind of think that's part of the charm! I grew up in a small town in Iowa. I love that my cabin is part of the rural communities of Pacific and Eureka, where people aren't too busy to chat with you. I wanted to give my kids a little slice of the kind of life I had when I was growing up in Iowa. I have been able to give them some incredible memories because of this little cabin: Easter Egg hunts by the lake, swimming off the dock in the middle of the lake on a hot summer day, opening Christmas presents by our little tree with a toasty fire in the fireplace, watching movies on our projector while we all snuggle up on the pull-out sofa, catching turtles by the waterfall, fishing off the dock. I've made lots of amazing memories out here with my friends, too: making margaritas in my little kitchen, kayaking with my friend out on the lake, girls weekends with bbq, music and roasting marshmallows in front of the fire pit.
What makes this Cabin unique
It's really quiet out here. You may sleep better here than anywhere else in the world! Bull frogs, crickets and hoot owls will lull you to sleep. Have your morning coffee out on the dock while you watch the ducks float by. I've included many vintage touches throughout the cabin: old quilts, hand-hooked rugs, English stoneware dishes, old photographs. In fact, there is an entire wall in the kitchen which is made up of vintage paint-by-number paintings. I want my guests to feel like they're transported to an era where things were slower and people took the time to watch a sunrise or just listen to the sounds of nature. I've also made sure to include modern amenities like wi-fi, a projector, Roku and an automatic coffee maker.
