About João and Maggie
We bought Casa Kuito in 2003, spent two years renovating the villa and have been letting during the summer months since 2005, so we have lots of experience! I - João - manage the villa with the help of my close friend, Maggie, so we are fully fluent in both English and Portuguese. We are also trying to improve our French but that is another story!! The villa is away from the hustle and bustle of the coast but easily accessible from the airport. The villa enjoys fabulous open views of the countryside and is well endowed with fascinating birdlife as well as the odd passing goat! We are not overlooked by other houses but are on a side road so it is easy to get places. The pool is large and entirely private. The beaches are only about 15 to 20 minutes away. There is a bar and small shop in Azinheiro only about 10 mins walk and there are many more bars and restaurants in Estoí itself. Casa Kuito is named after a town in Angola in Southern Africa where Maggie and I worked for over twenty years.

Lovely Tranquil Villa
We spent 10 relaxing days at the villa , close enough to all amenities if you want them but far enough away to be out of the hustle bustle of main resorts.
great views from all balconles, this villa is perfectly located if you dont want to be town.
We always split our 2 weeks in Portugal ( the other week was in Alvor beach) so as to get the best of both worlds.
spent the days round the pool and used the excellent bbq at night.
Recommend a trip to Trevira, which is fairly near by car.
Only slight drawback is the dogs barking at night, but this lessens during the day ( but this happens all over portugal)
Just returned from two weeks in Casa Kuito. Due to arriving late and diversion in Estoi we got lost but were led to the villa by a lovely lady, Helena, from O Cerro restaurant in Alcaria Cova (lovely home cooked food and reasonably priced by the way). Casa Kuito is extremely well equipped with stunning views from the terrace. Swimming pool is a really good size. Location is peaceful, apart from the farm dogs!!! The roads (and local drivers) do leave a lot to be desired at times. Estoi is a very old town. Olhao is about 20 minute drive away where there are many excellent restaurants along the front. Took boat trip to four of the islands (Excellenz are based along the front opposite large hotel and Tiago was a really good guide in his speedboat). Tavira was by far the prettiest place we visited - a must. All in all we had a lovely stay and would recommend the Eastern Algarve, if you prefer the more unspoilt and less commercial destination.
Fantastic place to stay.
Lovely villa, beautiful views, very accommodating owners who are on stand by if needed. Offers privacy and lovely space for kids to play, they had so many adventures there. Would love to return some time.
Would certainly recommend this villa
Had a great time. Isolated, lovely pool and stunning views. Great sitting out on the veranda as the sun sets. Good amenities close by. Roman ruins worth a visit.
We had a wonderful time, the villa had everything we needed and as the nights were a little chilly the wood burner was very handy. We would love to return for another great holiday.
The Algarve is famous for its beaches. The coast is 15-20 minutes by car choosing between the long sandy beaches of the East reached by Aqui Taxi from Fuzeta and the stunning cliffs of Praia de Rocha and Falesia further to the West.
Faro Airport is just 20 minutes by car. Try the following airlines for cheap flights: Easyjet, BA, Monarch, Jet2, Thomson. A car is essential for our villa and all the major companies operate out of Faro airport. Flights to Lisbon can sometimes be cheaper and it takes us 2½ hours from Lisbon airport to the villa.
Casa Kuito is 5 mins by car from the historic old town of Estoi with the recently restored Palacio do Visconde and Roman Ruins of Milreu. We are just 30 minutes from the border with Spain and a wonderful drive along the River Guadiana. Faro is 20 mins away for cinema and shopping. The market town of Loulé is around 15 mins away.
There is a Modelo Supermarket on the road towards Estoi just outside Faro and a smaller supermarket in Estoi town. Estoi has banks and several simple restaurants as well as the wonderful Palacio de Estoi. The Palacio has excellent views and is reasonably priced for drinks and meals on the terrace.
