About Andy Ellison
It was a terrifyingly dark and stormy night, on the remote Scottish island of Thronso. Jasper the one legged, one eyed mute was about to.........Anyway let's not worry about that, as our story really begins in the glorious South of France. Hi I'm Andy and my partner is the strange and beguiling Sharon. She is very silly, but very nice and I am a Rock Star.
Andy Ellison purchased this Apartment in 2004
Why Andy Ellison chose Théoule-sur-Mer
Because one can have a beach holiday AND a cultured holiday should you wish. Museums and Art Galleries, Opera, or Rock concerts are in nearby City Of Nice. Or, other suggestions.. Day 1 day, visit Monte Carlo, Day 2, visit Saint Tropez, Day 3, visit Cannes, day 4, relax by the pool, day 5, visit the local beaches,Theoule,/Baie de la Figueritte. Day 6, walk through the 'National Park' behind the apartment, l'Esterel mountains. Day 7, visit the hillside town of 'Saint Paul De Vence', have lunch there or maybe just a drink at restaurant 'La Colombe D'Or', (google it:), this is the place where 20th Century artists, Picasso, Braque, Calder and Miro swapped their works of art for board and lodging. So, you can view these famous paintings of Picasso, Chagall, Miro and many more ordaining the walls..... No entrance fee,.... just the price of a glass of wine and you can survey the amazing art. ahhhh, you need at least 2 weeks, or to come back year after year, like we do:)

Very enjoyable stay
Lovely apartment in a quiet location with amazing views. Andy and Sharon are great hosts giving directions and advice on restaurants etc. The apartment is well equipped with plenty of towels and beach chairs etc in the garage. The pool is great, my son was delighted that he could use it until 10pm. The walks in the Estérel hills are stunning.
Stayed here for two weeks in the peak summer season. Descriptions on this site are accurate and Andy answered all my queries rapidly. As per previous reviews the apartment is really well stocked with DVD's and lot's of beach kit to use. An excellent welcome pack to give you ideas of how to fill your time. Views are stunning and the local beach "La Figurette" is great for a young family and not as crowded as nearby Theoule. There is so much to do in this area but we did make use of the railway family tickets (short drive to station) to go to Italy and Monaco - less hassle and no searching for parking spaces! Would recommend and hope to be able to come back one day
Without doubt the worst rented accommodation I have stayed in and certainly unfit for a holiday, unless you are a single person with relaxed views on odours and hygiene.
Normally I would think twice about leaving a negative review. In this instance, we were forced to seek alternative accommodation after just one night. Firstly, the space is tight. The small double bed only just fits in the bedroom. The living room/kitchen are considerably smaller than they look in the photos. Watching television becomes an intimate experience.
Things get worse when using the bathroom and seperate toilet, both of which suffer from the combined (strong) odour of chemicals and bodily waste. The property is poorly cleaned and maintained.
The bunk bed has bedding well past it's best and when removed, the sight of spiders scuttling away tells you that you are probably in the wrong place. Ditto the sofa. Please note that it is down to the occupants to clean the place and only your bedding is changed on arrival.
Lastly, the common areas are dark and dingy. We called and texted the owner on our first day. Their response was to ignore our communication. Our holiday, in the end, was great. But only once we had booked accommodation elsewhere.
We really need to respond to this very negative review, especially as we have had so many amazing reviews for the last 10 years. Jenny arrived in the middle of the night and left first thing the next day, never giving our apartment or the area a chance. We were already a bit worried as she forgot to take the maps and information pack we’d sent. Panicking texts ensued. Instead of arriving late afternoon as she intended, she arrived at midnight in total darkness. Not a good idea if this is your first time here. She then sent us another text, gone midnight, saying she couldn't find the light switch in the bedroom? It was on the left as you come in the bedroom door. The maid pointed it out to her the following morning, it was working perfectly.
She had arrived at one of the most stunning areas on the French Riviera, spectacular views and a very inviting swimming pool. Yet she spent her time inspecting the sheets on bunk beds that she wasn't even going to use, she had the double bed? She just seemed to be looking for things to complain about, not a good frame of mind when you’re supposed to be on holiday.
As for a spider appearing, wherever you go you may find a stray spider, even in the bath at the Savoy or Carlton, it doesn't mean a place is unclean. It’s a non-complaint in the great scheme of things? But at least it demonstrates the level of minutiae nit-picking, which puts the rest of the review in context.
Our garden apartment is always kept very clean. We have a maid on call, a gardener and a pool attendant. She obviously never got to enjoy the superb pool, nearby amazing beaches and the fantastic Esterel Mountain walks behind our gated domain. We have a new modern sofa that is perfect for watching the flat screen TV, no way is it cramped. Not sure how she managed to watch TV though as she said she left first thing next morning. Regarding the size of our garden and the flat, we certainly don't use a wide angle lens to make it seem bigger. It is as you see it in the photos. She never gave the place a chance. Jenny must have got up in a bad mood and started looking for problems, then left. We would be very interested to know if she found alternative accommodation on a price-wise, like for like, basis, with a large swimming pool, and home from home features. Obviously if she moved into the Carlton, she is not comparing like for like and the price would reflect that. As for the smell, there was none, we flew out just to check this problem. No smell.
Superb Riviera and Provence location.
It is the third time we have come to stay at Les Terrasses, and we cannot recommend it enough. The owners have supplied everything one would need and more to enjoy a holiday. If you havn’t been to the Cote D’Azur before, you are in for a treat here.
We have been by boat to St Tropez and Monte Carlo,,, only one hours journey to each. You can catch the boat all the way there from the nearby fishing village of Theoule Sur Mer. (Which by the way has it’s own array of the most spectacular beaches and beachside restaurants/bars).
It is worth spending a day on the nearby Islands opposite Cannes, Les Isles Des Lerins, take your snorkelling gear from the garage, eat at the wonderful restaurant on the beach below the prison, where the man in the iron mask was imprisoned. This restaurant, boasts black and white photos of so many great film stars from Sophia Lauren, Frank Sinatra, Jack Nicholson, George Clooney ............This where they can escape on a yacht to have a more private lunch, whilst at the Cannes Film Festival.
Cannes is only 20 minutes away by car.
We visited the wonderful mountain village of Mougins and also St Paul D’Vence. Paid 6 euro for a galss of wine at Colombe D’Or retaurant and sat underneath real Picassos which adorn the walls here.
Also a visit to the second largest Canyon in the world after the Grand Canyon, the Gorges du Verdon, not far inland through the purple fields of Provence, north of Grasse. The Gorge has to be seen to be believed.
Otherwise we just loved spending days on the wonderful beaches of Theoule and La Figueritte, or relaxing by the pool.
Travelling along the stunning coast road to St Rapheal, you can climb down to secret beach coves..
Most evenings we liked to take a walk up into the mountains behind the apartment, along the many hiking trails.
And at the end of the day.......Shooting star watching, just laying in the garden late at night, milky way above.
One other thing that is good fun, when snorkeling, try putting a baggette in your speedos or swimming shorts, it is best you do this just as you enter the water to save offence............?
Once you are swimming with your snorkel and mask, release some bread, you wont believe the amount of chick’s......sorry fish suddenly surrounding you.
All in all we can’t wait to go back.

We thought the apartment was terrific and we enjoyed our stay, we did use lots of the additional facilities such as the Wi-fi, snorkeling gear, lilos, DVDs and books about the local area which were an absolutely brilliant addition to our stay. It is an expensive area to stay in and not having to purchase additional, small but essential holiday items was really helpful. The kids really enjoyed reading the welcome/info book and used it to plan days out. The location of this apartment means it is a great base for exploring the French Riviera (With car). We went to places such as St Tropez, Cannes, Nice, Antibes and Monaco none of which took more than an hour (We traveled to Monaco by train which we highly recommend...fabulous views!)
We enjoyed a beautiful week at this apartment, 2 adults 2 children and a baby. All mod cons and plenty of extras. There was no air conditioning and on really hot days was difficult with a 6 month old, but generally was nice to acclimatise and enjoy great weather. Stunning communal pool with exceptional views.
The week flew by and we ran out of time to use all the extra kit in the garage, bikes etc. great for walking. Watch out between dusk and midnight for wild boar that visit the garden, animal watch.
Just below us is Miramar bay with its beaches, marina and restaurants, here you can sail, scuba dive, water ski or wind surf. The beautiful beaches and restaurants of Theoule Sur Mer, are also just around the corner along the amazing, winding, scenic, coastal road, seen in many a Hollywood film, and Cannes is just a 15 min drive away. Why not visit St Tropez, or the mountain village of Mougin. Also nearby is France's answer to the Grand Canyon, The Canyon Du Verdon (2nd deepest in the world)
Nice airport is just 40 minutes away by car. Car hire is recommended and can be arranged at the Airport. Ebookers are good for reasonable, online booking. To reach the South of France you can fly to Nice (BA, British Midland, Go or Easy Jet) then travel by train, bus, taxi or hire car to Miramar. Alternatively drive from any Channel port (about 750 miles) comfortably in 12 hours on the AutoRoute's, or take two or three days ambling through the French countryside.
Theoule sur Mer 3kms. Cannes 15 kms. Antibes 28 kms. Nice 40 kms (40 mins). Grasse 25 kms. St Tropez 40 kms. Monte Carlo 55kms. Grand Canyon Du Verdon (France's answer to the USA's Grand Canyon) with its huge lake, 60 kms. Italy 60 kms.
Restaurants - the nearest being the ‘Tour de l’Esquillion', a 5 minute walk down the hill, on the coast road, where you turn right to drive up the hill to the apartment). It has wonderful views across to Cannes and if you do not want to eat you can just enjoy a glass of wine here. ( 3 star restaurant). Glass of Rose wine €7.
The next eaterie is just a further 5 minutes down the coastal road, (within walking distance), it's a 5 star residence, "Tiara Yaktsa", a Morrocan styled luxury boutique hotel. Drink your cocktails in a zen garden with stone tables or at one of the many terraces overlooking Cannes. The last Mojito is mixed at midnight!..( a double room here starts at £2600 for 1 week). Glass of House wine €12.
Just a couple of minutes further is is a little gem, 'Le Patio,' a restaurant/bar/hotel, ( 3 star), lots of our guests eat here several times, a bottle of house wine 20 Euros, Specials of the day 15 euros, amazing pizzas made on wood burning oven 15 euro, 2 course lunch 14 euro.
Then further still, down the hill is the "Tiara Miramar Beach Hotel", this is a 5 star Spa Hotel (if you fancy a pampering) with a gourmet restaurant and a further restaurant overlooking the sea. Your next stop after that is the bay of miramar, a Marina where there are more restaurants.
In opposite direction, "l'air du temps", reasonable prices, outside tables that overlook the bay of Cannes. Please check this out, www.air-du-temps-theoule.
Theoule also has some great restaurants: this location is a short drive away, "The Marco Polo" right on the beach, where on warm, moonlit summer evenings you can eat out on a narrow pier out over the sea (see picture of Theoule beach). Of course you could take a fifteen minute drive along the famous coastal road into Cannes and have lunch among the stars.
The Maeva also has a snack bar/cafe, (open June 16th to September16th), and organises excursians to Monte Carlo, Saint Tropez, Themed water parks etc, should you not have a car.
