Country House near Gaucin, Spain - Set In 5 Acres Of Orchards, 2km From Gaucin, Private Pool
- english, spanish
I come from a fairly remote part of Scotland and have always loved wild and natural landscape. I am an artist and paint mainly landscapes. I bought Finca Las Torviscas because it has the most perfectly composed view. I have lived and worked here on and off for 10 years, and painted my view many times. I find it, if anything, more interesting in the winter when the light, weather and atmosphere is often very dramatic.
Why victoria chose Gaucín
I first fell in love with Spain whilst driving to Morocco, During Easter 2000 I visited a ruined house on a beautiful little farm (finca) a few miles from Gaucin, I totally fell in love with it and the landscape around it. I knew very little about Gaucin, but found it to be a lovely place. The village is very beautiful, breathtaking views, very safe and friendly with quite a large and interesting expat community. It is also a great place for children, in Spanish restaurants they are always welcome and are totally safe in the village.
What makes this House unique
When at my house I always feel inspired. It is very secluded and you will never tire of the view. Chilling out by the pool, star gazing from the roof terrace, walking the smugglers route across the mountain or dining on the terrace. My house is a unique home and full of character, the things in it all mean a lot to me and have been collected from many years of travelling, it is not a smart Ikea furnished villa. Most of the furniture has a story and to some may seem lived in, this is the way I like it, I hope you like it too, if this is not your kind of style, please look else where.

Staying at Victoria’s Gaucin Home was magical! It had beautiful views with almond trees within reach! Victoria was very responsive to all our questions. Perfect in all ways! Just a small inconvenience when the internet shut down but an easy solution; plus we were on vacation so internet was not our top priority. Lovely place and would return!
Quirky house in a beautiful location
We had a wonderful week at La Finca Torviscas - it is in a stupendous location overlooking rolling hills all the way to Gibraltar. The house is very comfortable albeit a little quirky which we loved. It is on 3 levels so there is always somewhere to sit and survey the beautiful countryside. The kitchen is well equipped. The house is only 5 minutes away from Gaucin which has a good supermarket and some great restaurants, 40 minutes from Ronda and from the river which has some great swimming spots. The pool is a good size and also has a great view. Victoria was really helpful and responsive. We would definitely return.
We intentionally chose a property ‘away from it all’ and that is what we got! The house itself is beautiful, the style and layout is amazing and we loved all of the artwork. The views and the peace and quiet were perfect and we felt like we could stay forever. Thank you Victoria for letting us stay in your home!
Family Vacation in the Spanish Sunshine
We had the most amazing visit to Gaucín, and Victoria’s house in the hills was central to that success. The home is cozy yet offers lots of space for people to escape the din that comes with our family of 6. The sheets and towels were pristine - that means a lot! And while we toured to Tarifa, Ronda and Gibraltar, our teens would have been happy to just laze around the pool all day every day. The feel of this country house gave us a sense of rural Andalusia, with all the comforts of home. Victoria was always available for help, in advance of our visit and during. She even set up two authentic Spanish dinners for us, with Barbara cooking for us, in house. We had a memorable and restful vacation. Thank you!!
Thank you for your lovely review. I am so happy you enjoyed the house and Barbara's cooking so much.
I was happy to organise it.
Many thanks for your booking.
We loved our stay at this wonderful place. It was quiet and secluded, away from everything apart from a couple of horses in the valley, with buzzards flying around overhead, it was incredibly peaceful and a step off the world. The views are magnificent, couldn't get enough of them, sitting on the top terrace in the evening with a glass of wine. The house itself is more like staying in someone's home rather than a holiday let. The kitchen is very well equipped for making proper family meals, and the accommodation was very comfortable. With three separate terrace areas, there was plenty of space for the family to have some quiet time to escape each other! The neighbouring village of Gaucin was lovely, with a good supermarket near the garage, and plenty of places to sit and eat wonderful Tapas. Again the views over the valley down towards the sea are incredibly beautiful. It's only 20-30 minutes down to the nearest coast, we got used to the windy hairpin bends in the road quite quickly. And Ronda is well worth a visit too further up into the mountains. Really recommend this villa, you won't be disappointed. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Thank you Nicki. I am so happy you loved the house and the area. It is so gratifying when people get it in the way I do. It is a pleasure to share it with you.
The most fabulous stay!
We had the most fabulous stay here and didn't want to leave after 9 nights. The view is beyond stunning, even better than photos can capture. It's set in a very private location, yet is only a couple of kilometres from the restaurants & shops of Gaucin, which was perfect for us. It was difficult to tear ourselves away from the peace of view, pool and house but on the occasions we did, we visited Ronda and a river in El Colemnar, where we swam and ate picnic and had it completely to ourselves - true swallows and amazons style!
All in all, a holiday we'll never forget.
Thank you Victoria for a wonderful stay!
Thank you Bev. I am so glad you enjoyed the house so much. Happy to hear you went to the river as well, it's amazing isn't it.
