About Annelize Booysen
Being global citizens, our travels brought us to this part of the world where we felt the pull to stop and smell the lavender.
Annelize Booysen purchased this Barn in 2009
Why Annelize Booysen chose Penne-d'Agenais
We fell in love with the barn and the incredible views. The gentle landscape with its rolling hills is just a perfect setting for a home.
What makes this Barn unique
There is no place on earth that has the peace and tranquility of La Durandie. The world washes away the moment you step out of your car and see the view. If you can tear yourself away from the pool and the garden, you have plenty of choices of places to visit and things to do. This really still is authentic France, and that is why we love it here.

Perfect holiday house!
We have had the most brilliant 2 weeks at La Durandie which was the perfect place to relax and enjoy this beautiful part of France. I cannot say enough about how lovely the house, the gardens, the pool were.
It’s also perfect for families as the cinema and games room kept the children entertained when they weren’t in the pool.
It was all absolutely idyllic and we cannot wait to return.
Thank you so much Hannah! We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your time at La Durandie and that everyone had fun. We look forward to a next time!
We had a fantastic week at La Durandie. By some distance the best holiday rental we have ever stayed in. The house is perfect for two families and brilliantly equipped. The cinema room and games room kept the children occupied in the heat of the day and if on the rare occasion the weather was not great. Air-con in the bedrooms was also welcome and helped keep the whole house cool.
The gardens and pool are very well looked after, and the terrace over looking the valley is a lovely place to sit for meals and in the evening.
Overall, we were extremely happy with the house and would definitely go back there
Thank you for this wonderful feedback Henry! We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. We look forward to your next visit!
Best house ever
We have rented houses i southern France for more than 20 years, but this is simply the best. Both the inside and the outside is off very high standard. The host and caretaker are very helpfull and responsive to any request or issue. We can highly recommend this property to any one who wants a relaxing holliday in beautiful, quiet and luxury surroundings
What a wonderful review, thank you so much! We view you as the expert in French Country Vacations and as such, this feedback is a real honor for us. We love having you and your family at La Durandie and your culinary expertise is always such a delight. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience here. We really do appreciate it.
Enjoyable stay at picturesque La Durandie
Communication prior and during visit was perfect (the Welcome pack definitely built to the excitement prior to setting off) & when we arrived, Victoria was waiting for us to give a tour of the property and explain all workings.
There were thoughtful welcome gifts on arrival both for humans and our furry friend which was a really nice touch 🐶.
Property is in a beautiful location with exceptional views of the French countryside (particularly from the pool). The Gites are well equipped with everything you need (the property is a bit out of the way from everything else - definitely not a negative but the fact everything we required was within the Gites helped from this perspective).
Neighbours were friendly and the staff who came on occasions - Gardener, Manager and Maintenance were all polite and non intrusive.
We had some minor heating/hot water issues during our stay which were resolved promptly by Victoria and Annelize, again not a negative but testament for the speed in which they dealt with this!
Thanks for the wonderful memories and we will hopefully return again one day in the future 🙂.
Tom, Kayleigh & Family x
Thank you so much, Tom! It was a delight having you all there and we’re very happy to hear that you enjoyed your time with us. We look forward to your next visit!
La Durandie really is a little slice of heaven on earth. Beautiful appointed with lovely helpful pointers in all the places needed. Away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. The property being split into two units is great, whether with family or friends. You can be together but be independent when needed. The property also has it own cinema which is a great facility but a great piece of kit. We didn't watch many films but it really was a special event when we did. It also comes with its own pop corn maker! The Annelize whilst not on site, is always at hand and in contact to make sure your holiday is perfect. Victoria who is the manager was also very helpful and came to assist us on a couple of occasions and nothing was ever any trouble. We had Karla prepare a meal for us one evening arranged through Annelize. This was superb and Victoria helped with the preparation and clearing away. Excellent value and enough food for a second day! We have had some superb holidays but this has just about topped them all. I really cannot express how superb this property is and how seamlessly it is run. Would definitely recommend and hope to visit again in the near future.
Thank you for the wonderful feedback! We loved having you there and are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your time at La Durandie. We look forward to welcoming you back soon!
It gets better every year.
Just returned from our third visit to La Durandie and I really do think that it gets better every year. The facilities hadn't really changed much this time but the same 5* standard has been maintained and there is just nothing to complain about. The property is superb and the setting stunning - if you want a relaxing holiday in rural France I can't imagine that there is anywhere better. Having friends with us this year - they also loved La Durandie - we were able to enjoy the in house dining option and Karla provided us with a great meal (photos on the La Durandie Facebook page).
La Durandie is a great place if you don't really want to be out and about - fantastic pool and lots of space to find a quiet hideaway if that's what you need. But there is lots to do and see in the area and the market timetable provided makes a great blueprint for the week.
Annelize and the team always make you feel like friends coming to stay and nothing is too much trouble.
This year we pre-booked (a few weeks before we travelled) for a meal at Le Moulin de Dausse (10 mins drive) - its gets booked up and we haven't been able to get a reservation before. Its well worth it - great food, great service and great ambience. They speak English if you're not too confident with your French on the phone.
Will we be back? - next week if that were possible - sadly will have to wait until next year.
Thank you Julie! So happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay again and that you managed to try out Le Moulin this time as well. It is always such a pleasure to welcome you back. Your home away-from-home will be ready next year!
