Villa in Comares, Costa del Sol. Peaceful location set in the heart of Andalucia
- english, spanish
About Cheryl Judge
Joe and Cheryl are originally from the UK (London and Newcastle) and have lived in Spain for 16 years with their daughters Holly and Louisa. Joe is a lighting designer and Cheryl a music teacher. They lived in Casa Holly as a family for 4 years before deciding to move nearer to the coast to be closer to work.
Why Cheryl Judge chose Comares
Joe and Cheryl designed and built Casa Holly. They had some help with the impressive vaulted roof and saw the project as a labour of love. In total from start to finish, it took approximately 3 years to build working almost every weekend. They love the area because of its beauty and tranquillity. The house is far enough from the costa del sol holiday scene but close enough to visit should the need arise.
What makes this Villa unique
The house is modern and functions extremely well.

What a lovely property and location with our trip made easier by the owner who provided additional information and was available via WhatsApp for the duration of our stay. It's true to say that the villa is in a remote location and, although we did not find the tracks leading to it a particular challenge, we definitely recommend an SUV style vehicle just for the additional clearance it provides. The week we visited was nice and dry so there were no issues for us with the mountain roads and switchbacks etc. The only downside was that it was a bit of a distance before you reached the tarmac of any main roads but we had come for a relaxing break so alternated a day at the villa and a day out and about. Definitely get your groceries on the way from the airport as you will not want to keep nipping out once you arrive at the property.
Facilities at the Villa were excellent, hot tub was wonderful and the roof terrace was lovely for stretching out with a good book. The Villa was also well appointed from the perspective of cutlery, crockery and general kitchenware - this is something that we often find a bit sparse at some villas, but not in this case.
We had a lovely time and would recommend for anyone who wants a very quiet holiday, away from the hustle and bustle, and is not bothered by driving on mountain roads and smaller tracks. It's a feature of the region, not just this specific Villa. Many villas are nestled in the hillsides so the roads twist and turn as you would expect.
Quiet and peaceful holiday
Had a lovely time at villa. Is a five star property, all amenities of top quality. Highlight for us was pool, hot tub and comfy bed. Kitchen is well equipped but ensure you buy supplies before you get there. The roads are single track in many places and a bit scary but i am scared of heights and husband was fine with driving. Directions were spot on and we used google maps but would recommend getting to Riogordo and then google map it otherwise you go through all the windy roads. Enjoyed trip to Comares and hiking up Monts des Malaga, didn’t think much of Torre del Mar but kids would enjoy it. We had visits from very pretty and friendly cat. Top notch holiday. Thank you for letting us stay in your villa.
Thank you for your kind review. We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay.
Nice property in the hills
We had a very nice holiday, villa is well equipped and clean, hot tub really nice as well as views. Enjoyed our stay.
Relaxing country retreat
We had an amazing time at Casa Holly. It is even more lovely in real life! It's so peaceful and quiet yet less than an hour from Malaga.
It's a really well equipped house with a great kitchen. We also had a really thoughtful welcome pack.
The hot tub and plunge pool are a real bonus...a great way to unwind.
The owners provided a high chair and a cot for our little one.
The owners have thought of everything and it is a fantastic place to stay.
We really enjoyed our holiday! If we come back to Andalucia we'll definitely be staying again.
Thank you! We’re pleased you enjoyed your stay at Casa Holly and the weather didn’t stop you having a good time. Thanks for leaving the house clean and tidy - we really appreciate that and look forward to welcoming you again in the future,
Cheryl & Joe
The villa is excellent. Lovely clean, well equipped open living space.
We had a great holiday. The villa was perfect. We particularly enjoyed the outside space with three lovely terraces, hot tub, pool and pretty garden. It's not at all overlooked by any other property and very well maintained.
The views were spectacular, especially of the ancient town of Comares, and the wildlife was interesting.
We also felt we had a real experience of Spain - the area was not at all touristy. The local people were very friendly and helpful and we had some memorable experiences.
The only downside for us was the drive into the villa. It was my first time driving abroad and I found the small mountain dirt tracks very stressful. It made every excursion or shopping trip very tense, especially as our early flight meant driving it in the dark. Still if you're an experienced driver abroad or enjoy off-roading the villa's well worth it.
We felt well provided for during our stay. The villa has a beautiful kitchen, great showers, effective air con, all the mod cons you'll need plus a very useful information booklet provided by the owner. My only suggestions are maybe including clear instructions on how to reach a supermarket and advice on opening times. I also wish we'd taken a pack of cards or something.
I would highly recommend this property if you're looking for a little piece of luxury away from the norm.
Thank you Cheryl for a lovely holiday.
We had 2 weeks of bliss, we didn’t want to leave. It’s a gorgeous villa with beautiful views. The property had everything we needed to make a great holiday. The owner (Cheryl) and the lovely couple who came to clean the pool were so helpful and friendly. We enjoyed giving tuna and milk to a little cat that came to visit and 2 little dogs made an appearance once or twice. Thanks again Cheryl for a fantastic holiday in your gorgeous Casa Holly

Torre is approximately 45 minutes drive - drive a little further and you will arrive in Nerja - a delightful seaside town with plenty of restaurants and shops. Close to the town are the fascinating Nerja Caves - a major tourist attraction and well worth a visit.

Malaga city is a 45 min. drive. With a beautiful cathedral, the Picasso and Carmen Thyssen Museums, tapas bars aplenty and fabulous shopping, a trip to the city centre is a must! Take a stroll down to the port and take in the atmosphere with it´s varied restaurants.
Both Riogordo and Comares have a mini marts, post offices, restaurants and banks. The nearest emergency health centre is in Colmenar - 20 min. drive.
