About this property

Magical SF Bay Beachfront Luxury Retreat! Spectacular Spot! Weekly Special Rates

Waterfront home - on the beach in charming Point Richmond, furnished in tribal art and Asian antiques!

Huge bay views from your own big deck, from the lovely living and dining areas, from the master bedroom space, from the modern kitchen - even from your shower! Hear the waves - and watch the pelicans! Ideal for small workshops or visiting families - or a special romantic getaway for two!

Close to SF and Berkeley, and minutes to Marin County. Take the ferry into the City, or visit the ocean, wonderful parks, and the nearby Napa and Sonoma Valleys!

We are delighted to host visiting healers for group and private sessions. The location is available as a base for visitors and tourists to the Bay Area, or as a couples retreat - or for film-making or writing. We are delighted to host visiting healers for group and private sessions.

The completely equipped and private unit has a modern kitchen with bamboo cabinets, living area, dining area and two bathrooms, one with a walk in shower, with fabulous views of the bay. And your own private deck, right over the beach! Hardwood floors with tribal carpets, exquisite Asian antiques and artwork collected from around the world.

In addition to two private bedrooms, there is a third sleeping area, which seems to be everyone's favorite! It opens onto the deck with sliding glass doors - and the view and sounds of the bay are amazing! It's furnished with a queen sized bed, an incredibly comfortable eco-friendly Keetsa Tea Leaf mattress, and Japanese tansu chests - and can be partly separated from the main living area by Asian screens.

Come join us in this magic and healing place where you can eat your breakfast and watch the pelicans dive for theirs! You can wake up and go to sleep listening to the waves. The sunsets will take your breath away and the views are just outstanding. The location is excellent for going to San Francisco, to Berkeley and other east bay spots, Marin, and Napa. But you just might find yourself happy to stay put and have a relaxing vacation in this seaside village.

We both love Richmond and particularly, Point Richmond, the bay area's best kept secret! The shoreline is amazing! There are public sand beaches, wonderful hiking trails at Nichol Nob, excellent live community theater, world class restaurants, a thriving art and music community, an award winning municipal swimming palace, a rugby bar that's a great place to watch Steph Curry and the Warriors win another one, a terrific ladies clothes store, beautiful Asian antique furniture and more.

Guest Access: Private access through a garden path between black bamboo and huge birds of paradise!

Interaction with Guests: We totally respect everyone's privacy. There is no check in procedure at our retreat; you simply arrive and make yourself at home. During your stay we may have the opportunity to say hello, usually when you are arriving or leaving with your car or on a walk through the neighborhood. Or, please let us know if you would like to meet! We are friendly and well traveled - and do our best to be available if you have any questions or would like to learn more about the area!

Getting Around: Plenty of street parking! House is located on a cul de sac in a beautiful residential neighborhood. Minutes from the freeway - ten minutes to either Berkeley or Marin County! It is a lovely walk into the center of Point Richmond. And our favorite way to go into San Francisco is by ferry. There is a new ferry directly from Point Richmond!

A NOTE ON 2024 BOOKINGS: Please contact us in advance of booking to review our COVID safety policies. We also ask that you let us know, in advance of booking, of the ages of any children in your group - and if you plan to invite visitors onto the property.

Views, views, views!
Our first visit to the Bay Area and we couldn’t have found a better spot. The breathtaking views of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge and the bay at your footsteps with an amazing deck and beach. Vivien and Jeff were a wealth of information about all there is to do while we were there. If you’re planning a trip to the Bay Area this is the place to stay and we will not hesitate to stay here again if we get the opportunity to return.

Felt very safe, loved the views, and were very comfortable.
It was our family of 4. Two kids, 17 and 15. There was a great amount of room for our family. Kids both got their own rooms and we shared the “connected bedroom to the living room” with amazing views. We put up the partial dividers, which helped when someone wanted to stay in the living room later, or sleep in more. For us, it worked great, for 3 couples, it would be tough. The views were great. We loved seeing the city every night, even though we only went to San Fran 2 days. Those days were crazy and it was so nice to spend the quiet nights home. We loved our stay. Birds were great, saw sea lions 1 day, felt safe and would definatley return. Thanks for a great trip!!!

Quiet house centrally located & right on the water
Quiet neighborhood with a deck right on the Bay. Two days we even saw a harbor seal off the deck! Easy to get into San Francisco over Golden Gate Bridge or via the Richmond ferry. Went to Stinson beach, Golden Gate Park, Pier 39, rode cable cars, and returned to our lovely house listening to the waves throughout the evening. Great location for a family adventure.

Hello! We are Jeff and Viv.

We fell in love in Point Richmond!

Jeff came to Richmond in 1981 as the Chief of Cardiology at the Kaiser Richmond Medical Center. He also served as an elected city councilman from 2008-2012. More recently, he served as a Professor at Touro University, teaching PA students cardiology and internal medicine. He loves the idea of introducing others to the wonders of the Point Richmond shoreline and community.

Viv has been a psychologist, educator, avid world traveler, photographer, peace activist and small import business owner. Her love of the water brought her to Point Richmond years ago. She is the former chair of the City of Richmond's Human Rights Commission and remains active in community health and violence prevention efforts. Like Jeff, she relishes the idea of showcasing some of Pt. Richmond's amazing talent. Viv arranged for Asian art collector and dealer Guillermina Emy LaFever to furnish the retreat space with antique Asian furniture. It is a work of art. You can actually buy any of the furniture you like. There is a catalog in the unit and you can visit Guillermina's store in Point Richmond.

Why they chose this property

We've managed to buy our dream home on a lovely pebble beach here on the SF Bay. It's a unique and special place and we feel blessed to be its guardians. Daily we are nourished by the sounds of the bay and the daily comings and goings of the coots, cormorants, pelicans, gulls and the occasional sea lion or harbor seal.

We are told that the house was brought over from San Francisco on a barge in the very early 1900's and set in this spectacular location!

We are veteran travelers, having explored much of the world - and have finally found a spot that holds true magic for us. Delighted now to be sharing it with others!

What makes this property unique

The beach, the view, the wildlife, the magical energy of the space -
a true sanctuary for us, yet moments away from the people and places we adore in the larger bay area!!!
