About this property

Our house is furnished as a home, in a traditional English country house style.

Our house is furnished as a home, in an English country house style, rather than an empty rental property, with a comfortable Heals bed and French linen sheets.

We have three rooms on the ground floor, as well as a separate kitchen. There are stairs up to the two bedrooms both light and airy. One faces south and overlooks the garden the other faces the road. There is a bathroom upstairs, with a 6’ bath and the downstairs bathroom has a shower.
The conservatory room has fully folding doors opening onto a verdant, south facing garden, which has a bistro table and chairs and bench seat.

We are 250m from Battersea Bridge, and Chelsea Yacht and boat club. We are two minutes walk from the Thames Path, a broad promenade that stretches for miles in either direction, a wonderful place to explore on foot, or on a bike, which you can hire from a nearby docking station. There are plenty of riverside restaurants, cafes and bars and regular piers where you can pick up a river boat taxi, to whisk you further upstream. Battersea Park, is a six minute walk away, along the river, which has a lovely lake, boats for hire, cafes, an adventure play ground, with high rise tree walks, a zoo, tennis courts and glorious garden walks. We have three river taxi stops nearby, my favourite is the one on the far side of Battersea Park, which runs every half hour. ( First stop, the Tate Gallery) you can buy a day ticket and spend a very enjoyable day visiting all the sites along the river, it’s a great thing to do on your first day in London.

The bus stop, just before the bridge, has buses that will take you to the museums, in Kensington, the shops in King's Road, High Street Kensington and Knightsbridge ( Harrods ), the theatres in Piccadilly and Covent Garden and Buckingham Palace.
Getting to Gatwick airport, via Clapham Junction, a nearby hub, ( also a short bus ride away ) takes half an hour. Heathrow is forty minutes, on the underground, from South Kensington.
If you prefer to walk, we are a gentle 20 minute walk from three underground stations, Sloane Square, South Kensington and Gloucester Road.
Chelsea Harbour is a 15 minute walk away, notable for its design centre for anyone interested in home design. There is also a relatively, newly opened overground station called Imperial Wharf, in the Chelsea Harbour area.
Re overground/National rail stations you can get to Victoria Station in 10mins on a 170 bus ( northbound) or take the same bus from a stop in Battersea Church Road and you will be in Clapham Junction in 8 mins, which is a main hub for rail travel, if you want to go to Strawberry Hill or Hampton Court, Windsor …..

Please be aware that the garden room is not heated and therefore not suitable as a dining room during the winter, instead we use a small table in the middle room to eat at.

Location location !!
The location is great with nearby stores, parks, transportation and restaurants. But there are the little things like the broken gate, everywhere in the house are scented oils almost to cover up the smell of something else. The house is rustic with unfinished wood work everywhere. Its not quite finished. Internet and streaming is great while storage seemed a strange and interesting what you might find.

AWESOME cottage in the city
Denise is an excellent host. Her description of the property was accurate. Before our visit she informed us of all the information we needed and touched base after arrival to make sure everything was ok. It is a very clean, well equipped English country cottage in the city. Easy to use the bus and tube from this location.

Perfect stay in London!
My friend and I loved this property! Ideal location. Minutes walk into Chelsea area. River trails at the doorstep. Restaurants and groceries, down the street. You won’t want to leave the sunroom here! Everything was very comfortable and homey. I would definitely stay here again. Communication was excellent too! Thank you for the great stay!

An 'English Cottage' a stones throw from London!!!
The London area being quite large initially gave me a feeling of locating a needle in a haystack in terms of choosing an all encompassing VRBO property. Upon choosing this property, I can honestly say that I found the needle!!! The house is so cute and hospitable with a full modern kitchen complete with washer, cable t.v., sunroom, and I the list goes on-I could not say enough about this property. It is decorated as though you were staying in the English country-side which only adds to the character. The property location has a bus stop in front of the house which links up to all other forms of transit from tube to train. Speaking of which the train is mere minutes via the same bus stop (in front of the house) which will take you to anywhere you'd like to travel in England. Simply access Google Maps and you can plan out anything. Having a family we were very happy to have had a CoOp grocery within a one minute walk. Further down near Chapham Junction were larger grocery stores and very nice eats with street vendors who sold very nice sandwiches as well as yes...a McDonalds :) This location is also only a few minutes walk of the Thames River which has a beautiful large path that leads you to Battersea Park and also the water taxi to explore the view. Very beautiful city location that is quiet yet 'close' to everything!!! Lastly, our new friends Denise and Antony! Using this VRBO has forever changed how I will travel. Denise was absolutely a gem-answering any and all questions our party had concerning everything. From the property to tourism, groceries, travel, and everything else; Denise was there for us. Both Denise and Antony provided books and maps at the house as well as photos and travel advise prior to our arrival-absolutely wonderful people!!! In short-this property should be reserved all year around; I'm giving you the needle in the haystack...enjoy your travels!!!

Best Christmas Gift we could have asked for
This property just on it's own is a 10/10. The photo's are excellent representations of the space. The neighborhood is perfect to enjoy peace and quite while still having immediate access to London Transport. What made this rental a step above is the incredible communication with Denise. We had already been stood up by another property owner and had lost access to a considerable amount of funds. We reached out to handful of property owners explaining our situation and hoping availability over the Christmas season wouldn't be a problem. Denise responded to our plea immediately and after years of utilizing Homeshare services, was by far the most friendly and accommodating owner we've come across. My daughter and I were in an uncomfortable situation and Denise along with her beautiful home turned it around. Her home was a perfect Christmas environment for us. It was cozy, unique and had all the amenities we could have desired. I want to stay here again and enjoy the area even more. A short walk across the bridge got us right into bustling Chelsea. I should add that I have a disability and sometimes find it difficult to do stairs, however this home was laid out in a way that I never found anything too difficult ( except for getting out of an incredibly comfortable bed ). This overall was the best rental we've ever stayed in especially once include Denise. What could have been a disappointing Christmas was made incredibly memorable by this property and it's owners.

I am a prep school teacher, in a local Catholic boys school, where I have taught for longer than I care to admit to.......I moved around Europe, as a child, as my father's job took him to different countries, I have rusty Italian, German, Spanish and French........
My partner is lucky enough to own a rustic... Very basic.... barn, built of straw bales, where we can retreat to, leaving me able to rent out my London house, during the school holidays.

Why they chose this property

I have lived here since 1990, I find it the most perfect place. I love London, its energy and space. We are right in the centre of the action..... King's Road, Knightbridge, the 1960's hey day... Yet in the hub of all the recent river development. The riverside walk, which is 100 yards from our house gives up opportunities for long walks or cycle rides along the river, plenty of restaurants and cafes, a five minute walk to Battersea Park, with its boating lake, extensive gardens and best of all the new river boat taxi , which carries you speedily through the centre of London, from the West End to Dock Land, enabling you to jump on and jump off to galleries, theatres, historic buildings and lively markets. Or just sit on the boat, have a coffee from the on board Costa, and view the major sights from the comfort of your catamaran.
The air is good as there is usually a wind coursing down the river. The area is safe. A local supermarket at the end of the road , next to the fashionable pizza, restaurant, Bunga Bunga. Our favourite restaurant a short walk over the river is The Ivy, which has a fantastic garden to eat in as well.
Our house has a secluded garden, a rarity in London, and a garden room with bifold ing doors allowing lots of light and fresh air. It's a small Georgian terraced house, ( circa 1820 ) , a traditional cottage, used to be called a two up two down. The walls are hung with watercolours. ( not an ultra modern house) It is quiet, unless there is an east wind, and then we do hear some planes coming in.

What makes this property unique

Quirky, close to the river, not overlooked. For someone who wants to enjoy a traditional Engish country house style and have a small but verdant garden
