About Jenny Johnston
I grew up in Berry on the NSW South Coast and had many memorable family holidays at Currarong. We bought a house ourselves in Currarong in 2000 and so my children have also grown up having family holidays in Currarong. I now live in Sydney and our favourite holiday destination is Shore Thing
Jenny Johnston purchased this House in 2010
Why Jenny Johnston chose Shoalhaven
I'd holidayed in Currarong since I was a child and I wanted my children to have the same experience. We bought a small house across the road from this one in 2000 and we had some wonderful holidays there. This house came up for sale and we thought that it would be fantastic to be on the water and have a house with more space. It needed a major renovation, we were able to keep the original look at the front of the house and extend the back to make the most of the incredible views.
What makes this House unique
As soon as I walked into this house I was captivated by the uninterrupted views out to the lagoon. When we renovated we maintained this vista, so when you open the front door, the view is there

Wonderful location and beautifully appointed house.
We could not have asked for more.
Zacs Place is fantastic and Bowling club has great Bistro.
Perfect stay in a perfect part of the world
Our stay at Shore Thing was nothing short of perfect. We were a party of 12 celebrating my Mum's 60th and the only thing I regret is not staying longer!
Our stay fell during the South Coast bush-fire crisis which left an air of uncertainty in the weeks leading to our arrival however Jenny's communication from the very beginning of the booking process, check in, the stay itself and right up until the day we sadly had to leave was great and made the trip stress free.
The house itself is beautiful. It was spotlessly clean and being recently renovated gave the space a modern and comfortable feel. There is an abundance of space and although there were 12 adults in total, not once felt on top of one another.
Not having a massive amount of restaurants in the immediate area meant that we cooked at home for most of our stay. The barbecue was enormous and the kitchen was so well equipped with utensils and cutlery that it was easy to cook without sacrificing quality.
The location is perfect for a beach getaway. Although the house backs directly onto the beach, there are still many of the world renowned South Coast beaches only a short drive away and Jenny's recommendations did not disappoint.
Thank you Jenny, we will definitely be in touch the next time we're in Oz :)
Shore Thing. Currarong
Very good house, wonderful position on the river close to the sea. Attractive interiors. Perfect for children exploring the river at low tide. Walk to the beach. Highly recommended.
somewhat disappointed not by property but bushfire problems which were outside the control of the owner
Unique pocket of paradise
Away from bustling crowds of huskisson this is a great alternative . Pack for staying here without hassle of driving for supplies , however there is a small store that has almost everything! Peaceful fun for kids of all ages and big kids . Bring some paddle craft of some kind or a floating tube for the creek.Top spot highly recommend .
Great spot, the water laps the back lawn at high tide.
Kids love fishing off the lawn for small fish. Great open plan kitchen for larger groups and really clean throughout.
The beaches around Currarong are peaceful, uncrowded and beautiful. The main beach, which is 50m from the house, stretches for 13 kms around to Culburra. There are plenty of places along the beach to surf, snorkel, swim , fish and kayak.
There are excellent walks around Beecroft Head with tracks accessed from Abraham's Bosom Reserve, also known as Bosom Beach.
There's a boat ramp in the village if you have your own boat.
Spot dolphins and whales frolicking in the pristine waters as you walk along the shoreline. There are also whale-watching charter cruises from nearby Jervis Bay
Visit Point Perpendicular light house at Beecroft Peninsula for views over Jervis Bay and explore the many nearby beaches with squeaky white sand and pristine turquoise waters. Just 10 minutes drive from the house.
There are golf clubs at Callala Beach and Nowra.
There's a number of wineries nearby which are great for tastings and meals. Try Cupits in Milton, the Silos in Meroo Meadow or Cambewarra Estate wineries.
Nowra is the hub of the area with shopping, cinema and ten-pin bowling.
There's plenty to see and do or simply choose to sit back and enjoy the scenery
