About this property

CloudsNest - secluded hills property

Luxury hosted guest suite in off-grid home in the Adelaide Hills. A peaceful valley only 40 minutes from Adelaide CBD. Just 15 minutes from freeway connections at Stirling, but beautifully secluded. Scott Creek Conservation Park on the property’s boundary offers scenic bushland walks, with wineries and picturesque traditional villages nearby.

Just relax and meander around the property... Or find lots more to enjoy in the Adelaide Hills. Hahndorf, Blackwood, Stirling, Mt Barker are all 15-30 minutes away, with restaurants, public library, post office, hotels, pharmacies, banking, supermarkets, coffee shops, art galleries…

ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS...

Two king-size rooms with ensuite bathrooms share a private guest lounge with TV, library and kitchenette. Only one booking at a time ensures your privacy. Room rate of $180 for two guests includes a deliciously filling continental breakfast every day. To welcome you, there is also a complimentary fruit bowl and biscuit barrel topped up each day. Bed configuration can be either double or twin for up to 4 people. Extra guests per night: $60 per adult, $30 per child under twelve.

Cooked breakfast, Lunch or evening meal, gourmet bbq pack, gourmet backpacks for bushwalking and picnic hampers can be requested at negotiated cost. Cooking facilities are available from the main house living area, with bbq and fire pit adjacent to the guest suite.

Wifi available, although this is limited and data speeds throughout this valley are slow (no NBN to off grid properties) with mobile modem, which you can top up if required at your own cost beyond initial free allocation. Single guest discount and 10% discount for longer stays.

Sorry, pets not allowed as we are on the boundary of a national conservation park and wild life is free to wander around the property.
Smoking is not allowed within the house or close surrounds.

INVESTIGATE LOCALLY...
Wander through the ruins of 19th gold and silver mining projects at Scott Creek and Echunga and tramp rocky ridges and winding rural valleys.

Plan a game of golf at Blackwood, Echunga, Stirling or Mt Lofty or horse riding in the local forests. Ride a bike along the hills bike trails. Go hiking across the hills and valleys.

Eat out in historic Hahndorf, rustic Aldgate or Mylor, or gorgeous Stirling with so many delicious eateries.

Time your visit to coincide with international events such as Tour Down Under, Clipsal 500, Australian International Three Day Equestrian Event, Adelaide Festival of Arts and Womad -- all are within easy reach. Wine and food festivals abound in this region.

Ask about gourmet picnics for bushwalking or local sightseeing, touring maps and expert advice about the local region.

Public transport to the city and other destinations departs from Stirling (bus) and Blackwood(train), only 15 minutes away. Transport to airport, city or local events, and drop-off and pickup can be arranged at negotiated cost for bushwalking, dining and winery tours.

Tranquil retreat
I had 2 blissful nights at Clouds Nest. Jean is an wonderful host - the communication from the beginning was thorough and friendly and meeting her in person was lovely. The location of the property is secluded and private yet very easy to access from Stirling. The breakfast is divine. I can’t wait to stay again. Thank you Jean x

Beyond Expectations
Upon arriving at the property, we were both taken aback by the sheer beauty of the view from the house. Overlooking a valley there are views all around and plenty of wildlife, kangaroos and bird life, to watch. The welcoming platter was amazing and the continental breakfast was much more than we were expecting. Overall this was a place we didn't want to leave and want to return to as soon as possible.

About the host

Hosted by Jean Clayton

Host profile image
I’m semi retired, a linguist with strong interests in ecology, land restoration and sustainable architecture who found the dream location and built a home I love with help from some experts in sustainability. I love living off the grid and have been able to prove that you don’t have to be rustic or basic in your lifestyle for this to be successful.

Why they chose this property

If you just stand on the front deck and look out over the valley and the wide skies you will immediately understand why I bought this rural property without a second thought about where else I could live. A beautiful home with all services was developed over two years on a pristine rocky hillside where CloudsNest seemed a perfect name for what living here is like.
