This cottage is perfect for a couple looking to save money but still have a million dollar view. In Kealakekua Bay, just 3 minutes from some of the best snorkeling and wildlife viewing in the world, atop 49 tropical steps sits this private bungalow. There is a full sized outdoor kitchen, and modernized indoor/outdoor bathroom. This rental is suggested only for people confident in climbing 49 steps (see photos) multiple times daily as the stairs climb high to get the beautiful views and privacy.
The house is located on a private road. There is a kitty cat that will come and visit and ask for snacks, she is very sweet. There is a 10p.m. no noise ordinance for the neighborhood. Noise travels very easily in the bay, you might not see people but you can still hear them. You can always go inside if you want to stay up later.

We had a lovely stay and wish it could have been longer. The house has a very well stocked kitchen, everything you could possibly need and the bed is very comfortable . The breeze keeps the house comfortable and for the most part the mosquitoes away, but we did have 1 night when they were out, but the hosts supple bug spray so all good. The view and sunsets are beautiful and the area is so peaceful, a very restful place to stay.

We spent a glorious 10 days in this little "Tree House" to celebrate our 40th Anniversary. The room and environs were very clean, LaRissa, the Caretaker was very helpful, we loved the outdoor kitchen and having a washer and dryer. The constant visits from the beautiful little geckos outside and lovely birds with their distinct calls, and the incredible view were all fabulous. For us, the location was ideal, very quiet, near the City of Refuge, coffee and chocolate farms. Loved the rural environment. We will definitely be returning next April.

Ocean greeted our eyes every morning. Many comfy spots to lounge when not snorkeling at nearby areas such as Two Step,but a small local grassy park was even closer and a secret gem for snorkeling. Property manager was super quick with concerns about an odor in kitchen and she jumped right on the problem. We'd definitely rebook!

This place was perfection! It was exactly what we were looking for- peaceful and relaxing. Our host Pele (the cat ) met us when we arrived, guided us up the stairs (that aren’t that bad), and was a pleasure to have around. We really enjoyed staying at this absolutely beautiful little paradise. Everything was perfect, how it is integrated right in the middle of nature with so many lovely details. This cottage was perfect for us. Secluded, with everything we needed. Epic sunsets! We actually liked climbing the stairs since we weren't getting as much exercise as usual. The outdoor kitchen is well-stocked and we appreciated the seating areas outside. Everything was clean and comfortable. The furnishings are simple and tasteful, matching the whole feel of the cottage. The hosts were very communicative and helpful. A shout out to the property manager who was responsive and informative and did an exceptional job ensuring everything was super clean. If you like nature and serenity, this should be high on your list. As other reviewers (and the property description) make clear, it is not for everyone.
