Luxury Tobermory Retreat | Courtyard Hot Tub, Dock & Lake Views | Sleeps 12
There is no cottage like this anywhere in Canada.
The Pentagon Courtyard Escape is a one-of-a-kind architectural marvel. A pentagon-shaped luxury retreat with 12 distinct roof slopes, 17-foot soaring ceilings, and a breathtaking private courtyard at its heart. Built from the ground up with intention, this is not a cottage. It's an experience.
— THE COURTYARD — Step through the front door and into the centrepiece of the property: a lush, landscaped courtyard open to the sky, surrounded by local plants and a striking red tree. Sink into the hot tub (seats 6), lounge in the egg chair, or simply look up at Tobermory's legendary night skies, some of the clearest in Ontario. On a good night, you'll see the Milky Way. On a great night, the Northern Lights.
— THE HOME — Every room wraps around this central courtyard, with windows in every corner flooding the space with natural light and views of nature. The living area features a 75" smart TV with premium sound system and a 60" electric fireplace. The kitchen is built for real cooking: stainless steel appliances, a Miele coffee machine, and a live-edge dining table that seats 10+. Smart home wiring lets you control lighting and music by voice.
— SLEEP — Four bedrooms sleep up to 12 guests comfortably: • 2 master bedrooms, each with a queen bed and private ensuite • 2 additional bedrooms, each with a queen bed on the main floor + double bed in the private loft above • 4 bathrooms total (2 ensuites + 1 full bath + powder room)
— THE BACKYARD — A 40x10ft pergola with string lights frames the outdoor kitchen: wood-fired pizza oven, full BBQ, and a large outdoor dining area perfect for summer evenings. The custom firepit handles your whole group. Carved nature paths wind through the property like a private park.
— THE DOCK & WATER — A 35-foot private dock sits right on the water, perfect for morning yoga, evening wine, or launching the provided kayaks. A separate lookout deck offers panoramic views of Baptist Harbour, which connects directly to Lake Huron and the surrounding wilderness.
— GAMES & FUN — A dedicated games room stocked with foosball, air hockey, real darts, basketball, badminton, and a full library of board games. Perfect for rainy days or late nights.
— THE EXTRAS THAT MATTER — Tesla EV charger (extra-long cable) • Best-in-class water filtration system • Fast WiFi throughout (great for remote work) • Eco-friendly heat pumps & ERV air system • Spray foam insulation for year-round comfort • Washer/dryer on site
— LOCATION — Just 10–15 minutes from downtown Tobermory, the "8th Wonder of Canada." Launch a glass-bottom boat tour to Flowerpot Island, hike the world-famous Bruce Trail, snorkel above 200-year-old shipwrecks in Fathom Five National Marine Park, or simply walk the harbour at golden hour. Singing Sands Beach and Bruce Peninsula National Park are both a short drive away.

This property was everything that we had dreamed of. The owners were amazing and very accommodating. We will definitely be back and will recommend the property.
The home was amazing. We had 2 families (total 12) and we never felt we were tripping over each other. All the amenities were available including the large hot tub. So live on the cold snowy evenings. Would go back again next year. Highly recommended.
This vacation home was STUNNING! The property was large, quiet, and beautiful. The fire pit and docks were fantastic. The interior or the home, as well as the unique architecture were better than we could have imagined. Our favourite space was the interior courtyard. We would 100% recommend!
A beautiful one level home. The beds and furniture were comfortable. It felt like we were outside with all the large windows and courtyard. The built in coffee machine was especially amazing. A lovely open concept kitchen with great lighting through the house. A unique home which was a delight to be in. Thank you for having us.

We had a great stay at the Pentagon. The property is amazing, lots of activities and games for the entire family at different ages. It's also close to all the main attractions, and Little Tube Harbor. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place to our friends and family.
We had a wonderful stay! The property was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. The only small downside was that the water level in the inlet was lower than expected, so fishing off the dock wasn’t possible which the kids were especially looking forward to. That said, everything else about our stay was fantastic, and we would definitely recommend this place for a family trip. As long as you aren’t looking to sit and fish.
We had a wonderful stay at Pentagon Courtyard Retreat! Patricia was an amazing host — warm, responsive, and very helpful in answering all of our questions. She even kindly allowed us a slightly later check-out due to the weather, which we really appreciated. The cottage itself is absolutely beautiful — a brand-new, eye-catching home in the neighbourhood. Every room is spacious and comfortable, and all the beds were cozy and clean. We especially loved the open kitchen and dining area, which made cooking together so much fun.The courtyard hot tub was definitely the highlight of our trip — everyone loved it! Although the weather and season didn’t allow us to use the kayaks, we still had a fantastic time relaxing, cooking, and enjoying the peaceful surroundings.Overall, it was an unforgettable experience. We would absolutely love to come back again in the future.Highly recommended!
Overall really nice property. It’s a new build so the property will continue to gain and offer more amenities. Our party was fully satisfied with the home and property grounds. The kayaks were nice to take out on the inlet to fish. We caught a few bass. That was really fun. The kitchen was amazing and the family room open and comfortable. We spent a lot of time in front of the beautiful electric fireplace. .The house has an open concept which made it comfortable and spacious for our party of 7. My sons loved the rooms they were split level with two beds. Really a great design idea. The inner courtyard was amazing. My mother enjoyed her morning tea and devotional out there in the AM. All of the rooms were comfortable and well appointed. My suggestions for improvement would be to supply wash cloths for baths/showers. Each room had towels, but no wash clothes were provided. Also, it would be nice to have a floor towel/bath mat to step onto when exiting the shower, especially since we were traveling with my parents. We had to put towels down but didn’t have many to spare. Again overall great property that I would not hesitate to visit again.

About the host
Hosted by Patricia
We're Adnan and Patricia, a family of four from Toronto, with two teenagers who keep us on our toes.
Adnan works in IT and we've always had a passion for real estate and design. A few years ago, we fell in love with Tobermory and decided to do something a little unconventional, we built our dream cottage from the ground up, and we gave it a shape nobody else had tried: a pentagon.
Every detail of the Pentagon Courtyard Escape was designed by us, for the kind of stay we'd want ourselves, a space that's architecturally interesting, genuinely comfortable, and set up for families and groups to actually enjoy time together. The courtyard, the dock, the games room, the hot tub under the open sky, all of it came from asking "what would make this truly special?"
Tobermory holds a special place in our hearts, and we love sharing it with guests who appreciate something different. We're responsive, attentive hosts and we want your stay to be exceptional. Don't hesitate to reach out. We're always happy to share our favourite local spots too.
Why they chose this property
We first visited Tobermory on a family trip and never quite got over it, the turquoise water, limestone cliffs, star-filled skies, and a harbour town unlike anywhere else in Ontario. We kept coming back until we finally decided to build here.
The cottage sits on Bay Shore Ave South, 10 minutes from downtown, private and quiet, with direct water access. Close enough to reach The Grotto, Fathom Five, and the Bruce Trail easily, but peaceful enough that some guests never want to leave the property. That's exactly how we feel too.
What makes this property unique
Most cottages in Tobermory are beautiful. This one is different.
The Pentagon Courtyard Escape was designed and built from scratch. Not renovated, not flipped, but conceived from the ground up with one question in mind: what would make a stay truly unforgettable? The answer is a pentagon-shaped home with 12 distinct roof slopes, 17-foot ceilings, and a fully enclosed private courtyard at the very heart of the house.
That courtyard is unlike anything else in cottage country. Open to the sky, lush with local plants, centred around a hot tub that seats 6. It's the kind of space where groups naturally gather, whether it's morning coffee or midnight stargazing. Tobermory has some of the darkest skies in Ontario. From the courtyard, you feel every bit of that.
Beyond the architecture, the property is stacked with amenities that most cottages simply don't have: a dedicated games room with foosball, air hockey and darts, a 35-foot private dock with kayaks, a lookout deck with sweeping Lake Huron views, a pergola outdoor dining area, a Tesla EV charger, smart home controls throughout, a Miele coffee machine, and fast WiFi that actually works.
It sleeps 12 across 4 bedrooms (two with private ensuites) and is built entirely on one level, making it one of the few luxury cottages in the area that's fully accessible.
It's eco-friendly too: heat pumps instead of fossil fuels, spray foam insulation, LED lighting, and an ERV fresh air system. We built it the way we'd want to stay in it and we think you'll feel that the moment you walk through the door.
