An Exquisite Vineyard Retreat!
About Jenny Garlini
Once the preferred habitat of Blue Grouse, the 45 acres of Blue Grouse Estate are tucked away on a sunny slope of Vancouver Island’s Cowichan Valley, which is believed to take its name from a First Nation's word meaning "the warm land". A fitting name, as the valley enjoys Canada’s warmest mean temperature. The terroir encompasses wind protection by evergreen trees, an all-Southern exposure, a combination of clay and gravelly soil, and the nurturing of pure air and spring water. Thanks to this exceptional site, the vines require little fertilization and irrigation, just a drop of passion, a splash of dedication and hard work, and a pinch of obsession make the difference!

Lovely house. Perfect for 2 couples.
We could not have been happier with the location or the quality of the accommodation and the friendliness of the Blue Grouse team and owner Paul.
Location was superb; house was unbelievably lovely and comfortable and the hostess was the "mostest"
An absolutely blissful 2 days. Could not have been improved upon in any way.
We loved it! A great place!
We were two couples traveling together. We got in late at night after a very long day, but Jenny was kind to stay up late and ring us in. The place is impressive even at night and the welcome bottle of wine from the host’s winery was a delicious touch to help us wind down. But then we woke up to breathtaking views of the vineyard!
Traveling with friends, it was nice to have two comparable king-sized bedrooms and bathrooms. We made full use of the cozy kitchen (and the grill!) to cook several meals. The weather was perfect and breakfasts and dinners at the picnic table on the porch were sublime. Sunsets were awesome too! Our last morning it was raining, which didn’t dampen our spirits but just added to the experience.
Grouse House is a great home base for island wine tasting, hiking and other sightseeing, all of which we managed to work into our schedule. The only downside was that it meant we had to leave the beautiful accommodations to take in the other wonderful activities in the Duncan area!
By the way, the online pictures are great but Grouse House is even better in person.
Relax and enjoy the surrounding vineyard while absorbing the natural serenity. Visit the Blue Grouse Tasting room for a wine tasting, picnic lunch or to enjoy a glass of wine.
