History

There are records stating that the Fairmont Hot Springs Resort was discovered in the 1800s, when steam from the mountains lured explorers to the hot springs. The resort has a long history of changing ownership, and the area was given the name Fairmont by the wife of a ferry operator at Fort Steele near Cranbrook. In 1965, the resort was acquired by Lloyd Wilder and began the major expansion that would lead to the Fairmont Hot Springs Resort as it is today. Now with multiple golf courses and a ski area, the resort has earned many repeat visitors.
