Gironde castles

We spent a wonderful week at the chateau. Even the rain on our first day couldn’t dampen our excitement and enjoyment of the property. The sun came out allowing us to make full use of everything the chateau has to offer. The pool and the grounds are beautiful. The dreamy interior fulfilled all of our expectations. Our hosts were so attentive and kind. Thank you for such a memorable holiday

We loved Chateau de la Comtesse! We were are group of 9, including grandparents, girlfriends and cousins and there was something for everyone. The teenage young people played lots in the pool, on the table tennis table and the home made badminton court. There was plenty of lounging in the beautiful garden, reading books and dining outside. The interior of the house was perfect to find some cool spaces when it was really hot, as well as to prepare meals in the brilliantly equipped kitchen. All in all, it was a superb place to stay.

This property is amazing. Estelle the host is truly amazing, so helpful. I have booked a few properties all over the world and never had such a helpful host, the others tend to put barriers in place but Estelle couldn’t have tried harder. If you have anyone who struggles getting upstairs just be mindful and maybe don’t put them on the top floor. The bedroom with an open bathroom probably needs walls. The basement area probably need some tlc but that’s being picky. Blaye is cute too, we went to a wine festival which made it even cuter. I would definitely come back. We did a food delivery with carrefour to the chateau (you need a French SIM card) which was handy

This is a 'proper' Chateau, in a secluded, raised position looking out at across its own vineyards giving a sense of peace. Each bedroom is of a good size and has a sense of character. Ample reception space allowing a large party to spread out and not be on top of one another - that said, we spent nearly our time on the Terrace. The pool is well kept and clean. Whilst in a rural spot, it is only a short drive, there is a large superstore etc around 10 mins drive away, along with easy access to major routes and Bordeaux city, making this a great 'best of both' location to both relax in and also be a base for touring the area. We would definitely return

Perfect “post lockdown” stay. In a quiet and beautiful area of the Medoc the Chateau was perfect. Generous size for our party of 9. Massive garden with a lovely big pool. Inside all fittings and decor are high quality. The house had everything we needed. All communication with the manager was quick, helpful and accurate. Really can’t find anything to fault the property. Very relaxing stay. The area is quiet and very pretty surrounded by vineyards. 30 minutes to a range of surf and wild beaches and also the impressive Lac Hourtin. 2 hours to Dunes du Pilar.

A lovely welcome from our property manager and the caretaker was very helpful when we had a medical problem with one of the teenagers. The pool was well looked-after although the sunbeds had seen better days and need new cushions as there weren't any. The property was large and fitted our family of 14 comfortably. A few more fans in the bedrooms needed and velux windows that open for more ventilation. Lots of interesting villages and markets nearby to visit and kayaking and paddleboarding down the Dordogne was idyllic.

Lovely house albeit a little quirky. Very convenient for the local vineyards and excellent facilities. Tennis court was a great way to enjoy the sunny weather
