London houseboats

We had such a magical time on Leonora and Nicola’s boat. It was a wonderful setting, and great to enjoy the rhythms of the tide and watch the birds doing their thing. Even saw a fox on one occasion. The boat itself is really comfortable, beautifully renovated. We are used to complete quietness at home, but despite all the creaks and gurgles of the boat and outside city noises it was incredibly peaceful. Just what is needed after walking around busy London. Getting into the city was a breeze, with buses and tubes easy to navigate. We would definitely recommend getting the boat from Kew pier, that was such an interesting way to see West London. Also in terms of walks and pubs, head east, under the bridge to Strand on the Green. The sunset in the evening from the third pub down was magnificent. One tip for Leonora and Nicola is to take a photo of the outside seating up top, it was really comfy and great to have. Thanks to them both for their hospitality, they are lovely hosts.

The boat is ideally located for getting in to Central London as wellas Canary Wharf. My friends and I had a lovely relaxing week on the water. James is am excellent host. I will be back.

Taggs Island is such an interesting little enclave close to London and unbeknownst to us before. Set in a small inlet off the Thames, the house is one of a group facing onto the water. Linda, the host, has very much personalised it and provides every comfort. Although an expensive add-on, highly recommend the hot tub, which is deep and relaxing. Only down-side to the situation and rather shattering the peace, is being on the Heathrow flightpath, which we hadn't thought about!

This was a delayed birthday treat due to Covid. We booked this due to it's close proximity to thorpe park. Was ideally situated for this, boat was very cosy and had everything we needed. Inside is very well presented. Hot tub came in very handy too, would definitely recommend

Staying on Dorothy was a truly fabulous experience! We are used to living off-grid in a caravan, but this was most definitely a considerable step up from that! Canal living is so sociable, and this is such a relaxed way to visit or work in London. Dorothy is perfect - well equipped, super-comfy bed, WiFi if needed, loved the home cinema vide and the port-hole windows, and even loved the composting toilet! And Alex was always at the end of the phone to help with any wee snags or questions we had. Thanks Alex (and Dorothy!) and we will definitely be back

Very comfortable, lovely location. Picturesque, quiet, private. Great location and access to central London. Really loved it.

We stayed here for a special occasion and it didn't disappoint. The boat is very well positioned, with great access to a cafe and restuarant, and easily located. The host was very accommodating, easy to communicate with and the check in/check out process very straight forward.The beds are comfortable, plenty of linen and the shower surprisingly good for a canal boat.We were offered the opportunity to have a private tour down the canal too, for an extra cost, and this was a lively way to end our stay.Thank you!
