Wales: Upcoming registration of visitor accommodation
Get ready to register your visitor accommodation in Wales
The law is changing and if you take bookings for overnight stays in Wales you’ll need to register with the Welsh Revenue Authority from Autumn 2026, on a date to be announced by the Welsh Government in due course.
Who does this apply to?
It applies to anyone who takes bookings for overnight stays in Wales. This means all accommodation types including both private and professional hosts, even where the property is your main home, as well as all hotels, B&Bs and hostels. Whether guests stay one night or more, the requirement is the same. If you take bookings for visitor accommodation, you must register.
What do I need to do?
Visitor accommodation registration opens in Autumn 2026. Get ready, by signing up with the Welsh Revenue Authority to get notified of any updates including reminders and being first to know the date on which registration opens.
