Ask a questionAbout Kay Doney
We set out on an adventure and a totally new way of life in 2009, when we discovered 2 stone barns, very much calling out for renovation. Both leaving behind our jobs, we began a 3 year project to make these our home, and are now pleased to be able to share these with others. We enjoy the slower pace of life here, and being part of a village community is a real joy. Sitting out on a summers evening with a glass of wine, and a few friends, is both relaxing and rewarding. Kay and Glenn
Kay Doney purchased this Barn in 2009
Why Kay Doney chose La Chapelle-Aubareil
We fell in love with this property purely on it's location, which is beautiful. We intended to buy a house ready to move into with the potential for a Gite for rental. Instead we bought two empty shells, be it they had new windows and roof! For us being right in the centre of the village was important, and the beautiful countryside which surrounds us is a bonus. The village is only small, but we have a small primary school, library, shop and restaurant. We will never cease to be amazed at where we live and the wonderful neighbours we have.
What makes this Barn unique
Looking out of the bedroom window in the morning and seeing the sun lighting up the village square, or late at night looking up at the stars sparkling in the night sky is wonderful. No light pollution here. Having our two properties on one site was a real bonus, which has allowed us to be able to share our little piece of French rural life with others, from which we get a great deal of pleasure.
