About this property

Beautiful panoramic mountain and sea views, 5 min from coast, sleeps up to 12

Awarded “UK Holiday Home of the Year” in 2022, welcome to Cedar Lodge. Nestled within large, enclosed grounds of approximately 1 acre, Cedar Lodge provides a private peaceful country retreat. Located just 2 miles from the A55 and the coast, in easy reach of the seaside towns of Colwyn Bay, Llandudno and Conwy, it is an ideal base for exploring North Wales. In a delightful, elevated setting, this luxury detached property is designed to take full advantage of uninterrupted views over open countryside to the Carneddau mountain range (part of Snowdonia), stretching out to the coast with Puffin Island and the Isle of Anglesey taking centre stage, reaching as far as The Great Orme and Little Orme in Llandudno. Located at the end of a quiet private cul-de-sac, yet only 10 min walk (half a mile) from the nearest pub and convenience store and less than 2 miles from the beach, Cedar Lodge provides the ideal location for your family getaway. There is lots to do all year round, and in the warmer months you can also take advantage of our private heated outdoor swimming pool.

Cedar Lodge is equally appropriate as a base that is located at the heart of the North Wales holiday region, or as a secluded holiday spot where you can enjoy superb facilities while you maintain complete privacy and are able to get away from it all and enjoy the fabulous views that are available from every room.

Sleeping up to 12, Cedar Lodge is popular with families and friends getting together for a summer holiday or short break. It provides a superb place to celebrate special occasions and is very well suited to multi-generation gatherings as there is much to delight visitors of all ages. All guests can enjoy the large state-of-the-art cinema room, which has a massive 86-inch screen, cinema quality surround sound and electronic fully reclining cinema chairs from which you can enjoy films via Netflix in full 4k resolution. Children are kept entertained with the high-performance Xbox One X games console and guests of all ages can enjoy the pool table as well as the large, enclosed gardens and private heated outdoor swimming pool.

The outdoor heated swimming pool (available 1st May to end of September) is a stand-out feature of the property. Completely private, with superb views and an integrated spa tub, the pool is a major attraction for both young and old. The pool is great for games and relaxation, especially for children, but also has powerful swim jets that can be switched on to allow the more energetic to “swim against the current”. The pool area has comfortable loungers, a large double hammock, and includes a Polynesian-themed Tiki Bar where you can prepare your pool-side cocktails.

The property has 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (one en-suite), 2 cloakrooms with WC, large well-equipped kitchen, dining room that seats 12 in comfort, living room, lovely conservatory with panoramic views, plenty of private parking for up to 5 vehicles, large lawns, patios and a huge, decked balcony with stunning views. All bedrooms look out over the magnificent countryside, with distant sea views. The master bedroom is particularly impressive with floor-to-ceiling windows, massive marble-floored dressing room and a double-sized bath from which you can indulge yourself by watching our large integrated bathroom TV with Netflix.

Bedroom layout: Bedroom 1 with zip & link beds that will make a king or two singles; Bedroom 2 with double bed; Bedroom 3 with double bed; Bedroom 4 with king bed; Bedroom 5 (lower ground floor) with zip & link beds that will make 1 super-king plus 2 singles, or 4 separate singles. A cot is also found in Bedroom 5 to accommodate our maximum of 1 baby.

The living room has floor-to-ceiling windows with panoramic views, large comfy sofas, log burner, table lamps and dimmer switch for soft lighting, plus a large second TV which also has Sky TV and Netflix. Double doors open onto the dining room with seating for 12, leading to a huge double-tiered balcony with space for outdoor dining and lounge seating for the whole household and a large gas barbecue for al fresco catering. A highchair is also available.

A stunning conservatory leads off the living room and overlooks the pool with breath-taking country and coastal views. It also connects to the large balcony and provides a quiet retreat with comfy sofas.

The large kitchen has bespoke handmade wood ivory-painted units, granite work tops, island unit, Belfast sink, range cooker, tall integrated fridge, dishwasher, microwave and plenty of crockery and utensils. It offers country style seating for six and has panoramic sea and country views. You can also enjoy your favourite TV programs from Sky or Netflix while having breakfast or preparing food.

The house offers a separate large utility room with shaker style base and wall units where you can find a large family washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board and iron, together with a sink and storage for cleaning items. A rear door leads to an enclosed patio, woodland view, gardens and washing line.

A door from the main house gives direct access to the attached double garage, which as well as housing a full-height freezer, serves as a large games room that includes a full-sized table tennis table, table soccer and darts.

Fast Wi-Fi is available throughout the property, allowing you to stream movies and work remotely if required.

There is plenty to do locally, from countryside walks directly from the house, to visiting the Welsh Mountain Zoo, which is just around the corner. Within a short drive there are beautiful beaches, castles, National Trust properties and gardens, outdoor adventure activities, fishing, sailing, golf, and much more. You will find lots of restaurants in the area, but we particularly recommend Bryn Williams restaurant, Porth Eirias on the sea front and the Pen-y-Bryn Gastro Pub, which is just a short walk from the house.

However, if you are looking for a retreat that still allows a great holiday experience while remaining well away from others, then Cedar Lodge has everything you need. This is because the house:

• Is completely self-contained: there is private parking within our gated drive for up to 5 vehicles; it is located at the very end of a long private drive, so there are no passing cars or people.

• Has extensive facilities to keep all ages entertained: a completely private, heated outdoor swimming pool with adjoining Tiki bar; a large lawned and secure garden; a state-of-the-art cinema room; Xbox; pool table; table tennis table; table football and darts.

• Has enough room to allow guests their own space: a huge patio and extensive balconies; separate large living room, dining room and conservatory; large lawned grounds where children and adults can play in safety.

• Has all the facilities to allow you to cater for your whole group throughout your stay: a large fully equipped kitchen; indoor dining table that seats up to 12 people; outdoor dining tables on the balcony for up to 12, with a large gas barbecue and comfortable lounge seating.

Please note we do not accept stag or hen parties but welcome all other enquiries. Our house is ideal for extended family groups of varied ages but is not suitable for large numbers of singles. We do not accept bookings to host parties. The house is in an idyllic residential area, and we do ask that guests respect our neighbours and avoid excessive noise and disturbance during their stay. We also strictly enforce the limit of 12 guests at the property at any time, day or night.

The accommodation is set over 3 floors with several stairs and so is not suitable for wheelchair access or guests with mobility issues.

The house has motion-sensitive cameras on the outside of the property for security purposes. These are not activated when guests are in residence. They overlook and cover the driveway, the front door, the back door, the side passage and the rear patio and door. Noise-monitoring devices, which measure sound levels only, are installed on the first floor, the lower ground floor and the rear patio.

Cleaning/Towels/Linen: fluffy towels and quality linen are included. Cleaning is on change over only.

Do get in touch if you have any questions or you can book direct through this website.

Please also note that the heated outdoor swimming pool is only available from 1st May until the end of September, and heating is included in the rental price. It is possible to have the pool heated during April or October, but this will involve an additional charge so please inquire for more information.

Family Holiday
This was a very well equipped house for all our family to stay. Another shower room is needed really. We would have found a floor plan on our booking helpful. The driveway situation with the neighbours make access very tight. Overall a great time was had by All.

Family holiday
The house was huge and had everything to keep all our teens and younger ones amused in the typical rainy British weather. Great communication, just a text/what’s app away if owners were needed. Lots to do in the area but did need to use the car quite often.

Why they chose this property

Location, location, location! When looking to purchase the property we found nothing quite as well situated--it has fabulous rural views yet is still accessible to all modern comforts and is less than 2 miles from the beach, supermarkets, and the railway station. In one direction you can easily walk to the local pub and shop, and in the other there is absolutely nothing but beautiful views of fields, mountains, and the sea. The Colwyn Bay / Llandudno / Conwy area offers a vast array of activities that cater for all tastes and ages. It is also very accessible by car or train, making it an ideal holiday or short break destination. The previous owners, who built the property in the mid-1990s, had established a highly successful holiday letting activity and before we purchased the house, we too stayed there as guests. We can therefore genuinely say that we liked it so much, we bought it ourselves!

What makes this property unique

The views from all rooms in the property are quite simply outstanding, with the elevated setting providing panoramic uninterrupted countryside and distant sea views. The location is perfect for relaxation, being at the end of a private road--the only noise you might hear is the gentle sound of sheep bleating in the fields at the end of the garden, or the distant sound of sea lions at feeding time in the Welsh Mountain Zoo half a mile away . In the evening you can enjoy incredible sunsets, watching the sun go down over the sea while sitting on the terrace or huge balcony, with views of Puffin Island and Anglesey in the distance, as well as the Great Orme and Little Orme. In Summer you can relax by the heated swimming pool. The house is large, with plenty of room to let guests have their own space or for them all to congregate together. The dining room allows up to 12 people to eat together while enjoying glorious countryside views.
