About the host
Hosted by Lynda MacCusbic
My husband and I are were born on the Isle of Skye, and live here on our farm (croft). My husband is a farmer and has around 400 sheep and 40 cows. The fields around the cabin are home to some of the sheep:) I am a medical secretary and work at a local GP practice. We decided to diversify slightly and open a small, bespoke cabin so that visitors may also enjoy the quiet peaceful rural and very traditional way of live. There are very few indigenous hosts on Skye so we wanted to offer an insight into your way of life and work.
Why they chose this property
This area has been in my husband (John Angus's) family for over 100 years. It has bee farmed since then. The hamlet, called Totarder has 4 house, two ( including us) on one side a a small river and two on the opposite side. I have included a small video of the area for guests to visualise what they will have as their view. The croft is setin a green glen (valley), hills on either side, and a loch at the foot. It's so peaceful, off the beaten track, but only by 1 mile. There are golden eagles and sea eagles to be seen flying overhead, sheep, cows, occasionally otters, herons and an abundance of other birds . We have 6 working collie sheepdogs that you may also see doing their thing. ( they are not usually loose though- so if you don't like dogs, that us not a problem 😀 ) We love the peace and so do our guests.
What makes this property unique
The cabin is bespoke. Built by us for our guests. There are no other areas like the glen on Skye. It offers privacy and seclusion, but the main road is only one mile away, leave the main road and follow the loch side for one mile to our croft and the cabin, where various types of wildlife roam, mainly undisturbed by everyday life.
