About this property

Stunning south facing coastal location overlooking the sea, catering available

Westcove House is a classic Irish manor house just off the famous Ring of Kerry. It sleeps 10, including 2 doubles, 2 twins and two adjoining singles with 5 bath/shower rooms. For larger groups, Westcove House can be booked with The Stables (listing number 1212182), to sleep up to 21; with Garden Cottage (listing number 1213184), sleeping up to 15 or, for up to 26, all 3 can be booked together (see listing number 439174).
The kitchen is very well equipped and has 2 dishwashers, a large range with 5 gas hobs, 2 electric ovens and grill etc. The beautiful reception rooms all have fabulous views over the Kenmare Estuary and the hills of Beara beyond. The imposing entrance hall leads to the sitting room with an unusual sunken seating area around a wood burning stove, through to the cosy 'bar' with more comfortable seating and an open log fire. A quaint staircase leads up to a gallery, stocked with games and books for all ages. Westcove is a real family home with lovely furniture and paintings from Austria, China and of course, Ireland.
The elegant dining room in Westcove House, with panoramic views over the Kenmare Estuary seats 18 comfortably - and can accommodate up to 26 with extra tables. Various delicious catering options can be provided. (see website for details). Katherine - our local manager and chef - will be on hand throughout your stay to advise and help you book tours/ fishing trips etc. etc.
Enjoy a drink on the south facing terrace, which has a built-in stone BBQ & garden furniture, watching our field of decorative Soay sheep at play, or gaze in wonder at the ever-changing light dancing over the sea and mountains beyond.
Tenants of Westcove House may usually also use the games room and small gym/sauna, both of which are shared with tenants of The Stables but have their own external entrances. However, please note that whilst Covid restrictions remain in place, the Games Room, Sauna and Exercise Room in The Stables may only be used by guests actually staying in The Stables, unless they are part of a larger group who are also booked into Westcove House and/or Garden Cottage). The large lawn in front of The Stables is great for visitors of all ages to 'let off steam', and has a swing set in the corner for younger children. If you are considering a small wedding or other celebration, a marquee can be erected on the lawn to cater for a maximum of 80 guests.
The surrounding area is fantastic for outdoor pursuits from walking to fishing, sailing to horse riding. Golf courses in our area are among the best in the world and within an hours’ drive you will find several top class facilities making Westcove House also an ideal base for golfers. Whatever you enjoy doing this unique classic Irish manor house is the perfect base for a holiday that will live long in your memory !

Please Note:
We can only accept full week Saturday - Saturday bookings in July and August and a minimum of 5 nights during June, September, Easter, Christmas, and New Year periods. At other times, start/finish dates can be more flexible by arrangement but must be for a minimum of 3 nights (a 4 night minimum applies for Weddings or Celebrations)

Host profile image
My name is Susannah Adlington and I am a portrait artist living in Hampshire, England with my husband Michael. My father’s family have had Irish connections for several hundred years, and my parents bought Westcove House in the early 60s … since then four generations of our family have been enjoying holidays here – we just love the place and feel sure that you would too. Indeed many of our guests return to Westcove time and time again – something which we view as the highest form of praise!

Why they chose this property

Westcove House is very dear to our family. We have spent many years upgrading and improving the house to modern standards and also renovating our other properties at Westcove (the Stables, Garden Cottage & Pier Cottage) whilst retaining their character and charm. The income we receive from renting the properties when we ourselves are not here, helps with the ever-increasing costs involved with the upkeep of period properties, whilst hopefully enabling us to share this much loved magical place with others for many more generations to come.

What makes this property unique

Westcove and the surrounding area is teeming with history, character and charm...there really is so much to see and do locally. If you choose to stay home the terrace and garden are magical places for dining or relaxing whilst admiring the views over the harbour to the hills beyond - even to sit by a window, the scenery and light is always changing as cloud shadows move with the wind across the water and bog-lands. The cares and worries of the world just melt away....
