About this property

Delightful, Historic Spanish Triplex: Steps From Pass-a-grille Beach

We have a separate private entry which is on ground floor.
We are approved by the City of St Pete Beach for short-term rentals.
----------------------------------------

This is your fantastic beach getaway!
Our lovely pink Spanish stucco tri-plex is on quiet residential street that ends in one block at the beautiful sands of Pass-a-Grille beach. Enter through the arched courtyard past hibiscus, jasmine and tropical flowers. Inside, the 1920's Floridian beach decor has been tastefully updated with new fabrics & paint. There are of course modern updates: Cable Internet (wired & Wi-Fi), cable connected flat screen TVs w/Blu Ray, optional phone w/free US & Canada calls, washer, dryer, and dishwasher. Towels and sheets are constantly upgraded, beach chairs, towels, umbrellas and toys are provided. Out back, each unit has a private garden patio with gas grill, table & chairs, and wicker lounge. At night the gardens are tastefully lite by strings of white and colored lights.
One block away are 3 restaurants, a great deli, a bar w/music & a grocery store; convenient, yet still peaceful and quiet. A ten-minute walk down the beach in one direction brings you to the Don Cesar Hotel and in the other, the downtown area of Pass-a-Grille. Yet you are away from all the high-rise noise and bustle of St Pete Beach.
The tri-plex is made up of three units, middle and two end apartments:
Inside the middle unit, the top floor is one large bedroom and tiled bath with a shower, a balcony, and French doors on both ends. There is a small alcove with a twin bed separated by curtains from the main room. The bedroom is tastefully decorated with attractive coverings for the king-sized bed and has a bright and open feeling with views of the tropical landscaping. A washer and dryer are also on this floor.

The downstairs consists of a front room which can be made into a private bedroom with a state-of-the-art foam sofa bed, a newly remodeled, gorgeous kitchen with tile counters and walls, a living room with a pull-out queen-size sofa, bathroom with shower, and dining area which seats four. The floors are all Mexican tile with Oriental carpets. French doors lead to an amazing garden of banana, bird of paradise, jasmine and bamboo plants surrounding the paved patio with large decorative wicker table and chairs and a gas grill.

Why Choose Us and This location:
* Clean, well maintained, nicely decorated, well supplied, friendly, experienced hosts.
* This is an updated historic house on the ground floor with beautiful gardens.
* This is not a condo.
* It is on a quiet street, steps from the beach entrance.
* A storm in the Fall of 2023 wiped out the dunes and beach on the lower 1/3 of Pass-a-grille. Although the City trucked in sand from a quarry in the middle of Florida and planted sea oats and sea grapes, it will look pretty ugly for years. We are in the middle of the section that was not affected. Our dunes and beach are still natural.
* The beach access on the end of our street is wide and easy to traverse. Turn left (south) and you are on the public beach. Turn right (north) and you are on the wider, beautiful private beach you are free to use with less crowds and miles of walking.
* We are one of only 14 properties permitted by the City to do short term rentals in the residential zones of Pass-a-grille.
* We take loving care of our property. It is up-to-date and nicely decorated.
* We have been renting for 20+ years and many guests return year after year.

Perfect location
If you want to walk to the beach in Pass-a-Grille, it’s hard to beat this location. Property owner provides excellent communication and guidance on area attractions. We had a few ants in our unit but it’s somewhat hard to avoid in Florida. Thank you for a great stay.

About the host

Hosted by Leslie Hollweg

Host profile image
Years ago our parents came to the St. Pete area to enjoy the Floridian respite from the Wisconsin Winters. Over the years, as each of us started spending more and more time in the area, we started looking for places of our own to stay.

We have found interesting properties that offer a quiet and relaxing pace. Each of our properties has been our own vacation home. They are all unique. Most reflect the cozy and relaxed beach atmosphere of the 1920's - 1940's.

Over the years we have gradually upgraded them while maintaining their historic nature. Of course with a family that includes an architect (dad), interior designers, gardeners, and, most importantly, handymen, we have upgraded our places and continue to maintain them ourselves with pride. Our emphasis has been to preserve the feel and historic aspects of the properties while modernizing the inside facilities.

Reflecting our interests in tropical fruits and spices, our gardens tend to be more out of the ordinary. We have exotic tropical and subtropical fruits, spices, and flowers. Look around and you may find our vanilla orchids, lychees, longans, lemon grass, cinnamon, passion fruit, pomegranate, kaffir lime, and macadamia along more traditional citrus and bananas. For flowering trees we have ylang ylang, michela alba, jacaranda, and royal poinciana along with the more usual fragipani, hisbiscus, jasmine, gardinas, oleanders, bird-of-paradise, and bougainvilla. Consequently, our gardens are not the trimmed and manicured standard of fancy Floridian estates.

Why they chose this property

Come stay with us and you will know why we have picked this lovely Spanish style home/

What makes this property unique

As we explore and sample the area, we learn about those special places to enjoy and visit. We also learn what NOT to do and where NOT to eat. Each of our units has a guidebook that we have personally developed over the years with maps, restaurant menus and recommendations, and places to fish, shop, bird watch, walk, bike, and explore. We are constantly adding and updating the guidebooks. We welcome and appreciate our guests suggestions and contributions to these guidebooks. Great fun. It gives us a great excuse to go out to eat!

We hope you enjoy our cottages. We're looking forward to meeting you.
