About Quogue:
The Village of Quogue, founded in 1659 came into its own as a summer resort community in the 1890s a period known in the Village as the boarding house era. Following lengthy debate, the Village was incorporated in 1928 thereby giving it the autonomy it needed to develop over the years at its own measured pace. Today, Quogue proudly stands apart from the "Hamptons Scene" focusing as it always has, on wholesome family oriented activities. The Village of Quogue, incorporated in 1928, is positioned 40.82 degrees north of the equator and 72.60 degrees west of the prime meridian (40 degrees 82′ N, 72 degrees 60′ W). It has a land area of 4.2 square miles, surface water of 2.4 square miles, local population of 1,018 people within 11959 zip code according to the 2000 Census. Basically residential in character with a predominantly seasonal population, most residences are single family homes, although there are a smattering of multiple residential units located within the Village. Quogue village is very quiet and is the closest town to Manhattan and easy access to Southhampton and all other Hampton towns.
