A great getaway!
A very pleasant getaway. Eshay was helpful and friendly. I had a great balance of privacy, with conveniences (hot shower, fresh water, a knowledgeable host) nearby. Would definitely recommend!

Our first time experience in a RUSTIC cabin
Settled in the woods this rustic cabin is as basic as it is going to get. One step Up from tent camping . We loved It except has to take a wagon from the parking lot and wheel it to our cabin (a 3 min) trip. With the rain and the mud you need boots which we did not have . It has a table and chairs so you can eat inside or Play card games ir even write (desk ) it has one , two beds but unfortunately with air mattress which made it hard to sleep . Worst thing was it only has screen doors that can lock not no read doors and screens only have 1/2 of the curtains so when you sleep you can see the woods . Pitch black at night so you need flashlights !! Outhouse near our cabin so it was good . Bathrooms were extremely clean Which I was Surprised . Owner was pleasant And easy to talk too . Overall Good experience ! For mature enthusiasts don’t forget Buttermilk falls which is 20 Minutes away In Ithaca . Lots to see and do , wineries. Cornell university and Ithaca university , shops , places To eat and lots of hiking trails

A great woodsy getaway
We had a wonderful stay at Camp Earth Connections. As advertised, the Rustic Retreat Cabin was just the basics, a couple of cots, a roof over our head, a fire ring and a small charcoal grill, and a battery lantern. It had no electricity or wifi – if you want modern conveniences, a couple of cottages up near the entrance have lights and a small fridge, etc., and are near the wifi at the main pavilion where the showers are. We preferred being farther into the woods with fewer neighbors (though still just a few minutes’ walk). Susan, the hostess, is great and has taken great care with COVID precautions, outfitting all showers, bathrooms, and even the privies with spray bottles of disinfecting solutions. We loved the constant birdsong, the sound of rain on the roof, and the peaceful woods surrounding us. We hope to return soon!

Hi! I am Eshay and I am your host. I live in a 1-Room Cabin at Camp Earth Connection 6-months of the year during camping season w/my canine companion, Druid. I am fortunate to live my dream life! I love: Connecting with both local and diverse guests from around the world; Spending most of my wake hours outdoors; Cooking meals over the fire, Teaching and sharing information with guests on topics such as Outdoor Living Skills, Sustainable and Regenerative Outdoor life; Flora and Fauna (wildlife and plants/trees) awareness and identification; Caretaking the land and facilities; And working with the Camp Earth Connection team to offer guests a wonderful camping experience.

My life's work has included designing and implementing outdoor spaces and activities that are inclusive and anti-biased for families, children and adults to connect with nature and each other. Camp Earth Connection started as a children's camp and in 2015 evolved into a Woodland Campground & Retreat and Environmental Educational Center. Camp Earth Connection provides a welcoming space to all, with a warm welcome to individuals who identify as LGBTQ, as well as people from the BIPOC Community who may not have always felt safe in wilderness settings; And to all people who want to share a peaceful and amazing experience in nature.

Why they chose this property

Camp Earth Connection is a beautiful and serene camp, nestled in the middle of the Hammond Hill Forest. Your hosts Eshay and Druid(camp pup) will greet you when you arrive and give you an orientation to the camp to help you get acclimated. Camp Earth Connection(CEC) is a small campground with just 18 camp/cabin sites, plus adjacent to the camp, in Eshay's Forest, there are 3 additional cabins/cottages with full amenities. When you stay at CEC, you have the opportunity to camp at your comfort level (or challenge yourself with less amenities) and experience nature in the raw.

What makes this property unique

Guests can choose to have some peaceful alone time or be more engaged in our small community during our community campfires, campfire pancake breakfasts or workshops.
Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, Camp Earth Connection offers a variety of activities and workshops such as:
Saturday Morning Campfire Pancake Breakfast.
Saturday Evening Community Campfire.
Thursday evening, Earth Movie night, (movies about the Earth and Sustainable living) followed by a campfire discussion.
A variety of workshops are offered periodically led by Eshay & CEC staff and interns including: Fire making in Nature; Eshay's Tree Walk; Animal Tracks and Signs - Guided Trail walks, and more. All workshops and activities are free but donations are welcomed.

CEC offers individuals and families a chance to connect with each other and nature in a peaceful beautiful setting. Alcohol and drugs are prohibited to ensure this peaceful atmosphere and to allow folks to find serenity through our natural environment. CEC welcomes and values people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. We do our best to make sure our guests feel safe, cared for and respected. We of course expect the same in return.

At CEC we are environmentally conscientious and do our best to preserve the natural surroundings and natural resources. We incorporate composting and recycling into our daily routine. We understand the importance of reducing the amount of resources we use, and re-using and re-generating whenever possible.
