Beautiful home, excellent value

We had an outstanding stay with our group of 4 adults and 6 children (ages 9-15). The home was very modern and clean, with plenty of space for all of us. The memory foam mattresses and bedding were very comfortable. The kitchen appliances were great and there were adequate cookware/utensils for making all of our meals in the house during our trip (with the exception of going out for raspberry shakes on a few occasions.) We made use of the community clubhouse and heated pool/hot tub all 4 days we were there. The path behind the house was great for the runners in our group and the kids made use of the backyard, even though it was a bit small and right next to the walking path/road. Overall, I thought Bear Shore Retreat was an excellent value and we would definitely stay there again on our next trip to Bear Lake.

The property is beautiful. It is very spacious. We were looking for a place with 4 bedrooms so that our 2 kids, my wife and I and my mom could each have a seperate bedroom. My 4 year old thought it was the greatest thing in the world that her bedroom had 3 beds in it. The kids loved that the TV room had little chairs with cartoon characters on them. My daughter claimed Dora the Explorer and my son claimed Spiderman.We loved the walking trail in front of the house. I put my son on my shoulders and just started walking to see what I could see. Not very far down the road was a crosswalk that went over into the Marina. We walked in and wandered around. We found another family in the marina feeding the fish. I put my son down and let him throw some food in the water. He was laughing and having a great time. That serendipitous moment was made possible by the location of this house.There were a few minor areas where the house could improve.It would have been great to have some sand toys or some beach chairs available for use. Those were things we didn't think about but we've been lucky that other places we've stayed have provided them.We also didn't love that we were required to carry the garbage a quarter mile to the dumpster. A minor inconvenience, of course, but we also found trash from previous tenants in the garbage. The house was otherwise spotless, but when you outsource a portion of cleaning to the tenants you potentially degrade the experience.

Bear Shore Retreat was a good option for our annual family week together. Main floor living was great for our aging parents, the house was clean, comfortable, and the location was convenient for walking, cycling, and driving around town as needed. The kitchen was poorly stocked with pots, pans, etc for us (we rotate meal prep) and the indoor table was more than maxed out with 7 people but obviously not a big deal if you eat out! It would have been nice to have some games for the kids but we kept busy outside so not a huge deal. The house backs onto Hwy 89 so traffic noise was a little distracting but c’est la vie. All in all we’d go again

Bear Shore Retreat was a good option for our annual family week together. Main floor living was great for our aging parents, the house was clean, comfortable, and the location was convenient for walking, cycling, and driving around town as needed. The kitchen was poorly stocked with pots, pans, etc for us (we rotate meal prep) and the indoor table was more than maxed out with 7 people but obviously not a big deal if you eat out! It would have been nice to have some games for the kids but we kept busy outside so not a huge deal. The house backs onto Hwy 89 so traffic noise was a little distracting but c’est la vie. We will work with the owner to improve the kitchen inventory and ensure it is better stocked for future guests.
