Chesapeake Bay Cottage, Private Pool, Pier and Kayaks

The cottage is in an idyllic location next to the bay with its own dock which is great for watching the wildlife and amazing sunsets. The cottage has all the facilities you require and Patti went out her way to make sure we were settled and everything was as expected. The pool was a refreshing haven in the 30C(85F) heat along with the air con in the cottage. There are lots to see and explore in the area with restaurants close by in Mathews and Gloucester. Slightly further away you get to the main colonial areas of Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. Busch Gardens is at Willamsburg if you need an alternative to the historical sights. Even further there is VA Beach which is a few miles long with a great sandy beach, though the traffic can be busy through the tunnel. In summary you have the option of staying at the cottage kayaking, crabbing, relaxing by the pool, soaking up the views or using it as a base to explore the area. We tried both and loved the cottage and the area.

Great property for our family of 5. We enjoyed hanging by the pool and on the dock. Our favorite thing to do was watching the rays swim by.

Our family of 4 and our 2 friends absolutely loved the house! We spent each day in the pool, fishing, kayaking, hanging out in the screened in porch, and relaxing in the room overlooking the water. I the location was great, easy drive to Mathew’s for groceries, ice cream, and dinner. Great communication with the host, easy check-in and home was just as the pictures show. We can’t wait to return!

Our vacation was nothing short of amazing! Just what we needed for a relaxing week. Everything from checking in to the home decor. Rooms are spacious. Kitchen had everything we could need. Fishing and crabbing off the pier, swimming in the pool and the sunsets take your breath away. We enjoyed every minute and we had toddler, teenager and adults. What a week in Virginia, My family of 6 stayed at your house and had the most wonderful time. The house was very warm and inviting. We could not have asked for a better place to get away from our busy lives in NYC. The pool was enjoyed by everyone every day, especially by my two younger ones. We enjoyed the wonderful river with a dock that allowed us to fish, kayak & crab. Thank you for providing the crab cages. What a wonderful gift. We ate blue crab every night and a few fish. We would highly recommend this house if one is seeking a place with everything one needs for a time of enjoyable solitude from the hustle of life. Thank you again for the wonderful accommodations. We hope to return again.
