New for June 2016, Little Forge is an exceptional 3 bedroom (1 x superking; 1 x king; 2 x single) historic Cotswold stone cottage - originally serving as the forge for the Cooper next door. Recently refurbished with great attention to detail, the cottage now provides the perfect blend of stylish modern living in a period setting;

Blockley itself is one of the Cotswolds’ best kept secrets - a stunningly vibrant village nestled into the side of a broad valley, with two pubs, a Norman church and a thriving community village shop and café. The village is also the setting for the BBC's popular mystery drama Father Brown, starring Mark Williams of Harry Potter fame.

Little Forge sits in an idyllic location within Blockley's historic centre, with wonderful pastoral views beyond the attractive terraced garden which leads to the gently flowing Blockley Brook (which was, incidentally, part of the original London to Worcester medieval road – it’s a ford). Guests at Little Forge will enjoy wonderful period features such as mullioned windows, beamed ceilings, exposed Cotswold stone walls, window seats and a large Inglenook fireplace, alongside the necessary modern facilities of a digital smart TV with WiFi connectivity for Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc.

The Details:
Enter Little Forge and arrive in the thoughtfully decorated, large double-fronted living room complete with real-fire Inglenook fireplace, window seats and fully glazed French doors onto the wonderfully private internal courtyard - a real suntrap! There's comfortable seating for six people with alternative seating available courtesy of the window seats. The other end of the living room accommodates the entrance hall with a handy desk and plenty of storage for coats, boots, etc.

Make your way through the entrance hall into the bespoke kitchen and dining room, off which is the handy utility and cloakroom housing a washing machine, wc and basin. Storage under the stairs houses the ironing and cleaning equipment. The light and spacious kitchen-diner includes an impressive range cooker with a five burner gas hob and two electric ovens, a full size fridge freezer, a dishwasher, microwave, small TV and kettle. There is plenty of work surface, thanks to a large kitchen island. This same island also acts to separate the dining area from the kitchen. The kitchen also benefits from wonderful light thanks to walls of glass and a series of roof lights. The dining area has a dining table with a combination of bench and chair seating for six.

The glazed folding patio doors from the dining room lead to an ample outdoor terrace with a six-person outdoor dining set with parasol and a charcoal barbecue. This, in turn, leads to the further terraced rear garden via a series of stone steps and ultimately to the "sundowner terrace" beside the soft flowing Blockley Brook at the foot of the garden.

Back inside, the staircase leads up to the first floor landing, off which is the bright and airy family bathroom with double ended bath and overhead shower and stone top vanity basin unit. Fluffy white towels are provided for each stay.

Up one step from the landing towards the back of the house and you arrive in Bedroom 1 - the Master Bedroom. With lovely countryside views, this welcoming room exudes tranquility. The bed is a superking size. Not only does this room have ample built-in wardrobe and large chest of drawers but it also boasts a perfectly formed ensuite shower-room with wc and hand- basin.

Back to the landing and one step up towards the front of the house and you are in a small vestibule that leads to the other two double bedrooms.

Bedroom 2 is a spacious room full of charm thanks in part to the exposed Cotswold stone chimney breast, but also the furnishings... a king size iron bed and two attractive chest of drawers (doing double duty as bedside tables). Its wonderful double-aspect floods the room with light throughout the day.

Bedroom 3 probably has the most character, with its exotic bespoke headboards and styling. Made up as a twin with two full sized single beds, it can be converted into a superking. All the rooms have blackout Roman blinds and beds are made up with the finest Egyptian cotton linen for a wonderful night’s sleep.

Parking is available on the quiet road directly out front of the property.

All in all, Little Forge is the perfect setting for a family holiday or for a group of friends wishing to explore the beautiful Cotswolds region.

Amazing quaint Cottage in Blockley
Everything turned out perfect. Shawn was helpful, for every question we inquired about. Cottage was clean and very comfortable, with so many amenities. Back yard garden was so pretty, and led down to the river. If we ever come to this area again, we know where to stay. Many thanks to Shawn, our host. The three sisters from the USA.

Great house, great village
This is our second stay at Little Forge, and it was every bit as good as our first. The house is lovely and the location in the beautiful village of Blockley is perfect. The village cafe deserves a special mention; great food at a very reasonable price. David and Mary Horne
