Thank you for leaving a review. I'm glad you found the cottage comfortable. We have lots of space for bikes in Skylark's garage and can easily recommend local bike routes.
We had an amazing family holiday, great location to explore the area. Loved the Donkey's at the foot of the garden and the honesty box for Hen and Duck eggs. Laura and family very welcoming, great communication and recommendations before and during our stay.
Would recommend.
This holiday property I highly recommend. Had everything we needed and in a quiet location. Beds were very comfortable, loved the sitting room. Highlight was seeing the donkeys.
We really enjoyed our stay at Skylark. Super peaceful, no noise or light pollution. Laura has thought of everything for her guests, everything was set up for us on arrival. Loved the log burner & watching the birds outside the window. Would definitely stay again.
We enjoyed a lovely week in Skylark cottage. It was in a beautiful location and had everything we needed for a relaxing, peaceful stay: the kitchen was well-equipped, the fireplace was beautiful and the beds were extremely comfortable. Laura - our host - was extremely friendly and helpful and we absolutely loved having the donkeys and Harry the horse at the bottom of the garden.
The cottage is in an ideal location to explore Berwick, Lindisfarne, Seahouses and the Scottish Borders.

Thank you so much for leaving a review; your feedback is greatly appreciated. I'm so glad you managed to visit the Farne Islands and your daughter enjoyed watching the donkeys over the fence. We really hope you might visit again in the future :)
Loved the cottage and the stay was so peaceful. Great location for exploring the local area. Laura was wonderful on all communication. Well equipped, cozy and fabulous hot shower with great towels most welcome after walking all day. Comfortable beds. Will be back. Thank you!
We had a lovely few (post lockdown) days staying in Skylark cottage. The cottage is very well equipped, spacious and has a large secure back garden looking over the fields at the animals. Laura was very communicative and was available for any queries we had. The cottage is a 10 minute drive from Cheswick Beach which is absolutely gorgeous, and deserted. The road outside the cottage is virtually free of traffic so is very safe for children and pets.
We hope to stay again in the future.

I am so happy you enjoyed your stay at Skylark Cottage and found the cottage comfortable. Cheswick Sands is indeed a gorgeous beach and Cocklawburn (a wee bit further up the coast closer to Berwick) is also lovely. We are very fortunate to have fantastic coastline in North Northumberland.
We very much hope we can welcome you back in the future. It would be great to host your family again.
Kind regards, Laura Smales (Thornton Farm Cottages)
We hebben een heerlijke week gehad in dit zeer nette huis. Het heeft een prachtig uitzicht en is van alle gemakken voorzien. Ook de elektrische laadpaal is erg fijn.
Quiet rural location close to wonderful secluded beaches. Berwick in Tweed and supermarket within 10 minute drive. Spacious and comfortable bungalow with well appointed kitchen facilities
Everything was amazing. Peaceful and so pretty . Laura was amazing and all the animals are so friendly. The fee range eggs were sooooo good and free!!! Can’t wait to come back
A very comfortable cottage, beautifully equipped and furnished. Super location with good access to Berwick and surrounding beauty spot. Would definitely stay there again
Warm welcome, cosy cottage with added joy of being on a working farm.
What a wonderful time we had at Skylark Cottage. From the moment we arrived Laura, Jane and Anna were incredibly welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Our young children loved meeting the donkeys and collecting the eggs and playing in the play area next door. They didn't want to leave.. and nor did we!! The cottage is a great base for exploring Northumberland and Scotland. We packed loads in in 3 days...but the cottage is so lovely that we can imagine it would be a great place to relax and do absolutely nothing as well! The cottage was clean and spacious with everything we needed and lovely soft pillows and duvets. Would love to return one day soon...and hopefully for a longer break. Thanks Laura and family for making our break so special.

We're so pleased you had a relaxing holiday and managed to explore lots of beautiful North Northumberland. It was a pleasure introducing the children to the donkeys and ponies. They were excellent egg collectors:)
We would be delighted if you chose to return in the future. It's lovely to welcome families and see them enjoy the farm.

A quiet retreat
3 generations of us had a lovely week in the cottage. There was everything we needed in the cottage and the donkeys, pony and chicken were much admired by my granddaughter who also enjoyed telling stories to the little dog next door who was equally captivated. She also made great use of the play area. Laura was very helpful before we went over providing some different bedding, which in the end we didn't need because the duvets weren't synthetic. The beds were fantastic with very comfortable mattresses, top quality cotton bedlinen and down duvets and the towels plentiful and thick. Although the farm buildings are opposite the situation is very quiet with almost no vehicles using the road and a lovely view of the rolling countryside from the back garden. There is easy access to Berwick and all the local places to visit so it's a great place to stay.

An amazing piece of North East paradise
Beautifully fully equipped cottage in a great location. Ample size for our family of 6, clean, tidy with a great welcome from Laura, who was a pleasure and couldn't do enough. A perfect piece of paradise away from hectic life. Breath taking surroundings, the children loved feeding the horse and donkeys, then hopping over the wall to the play area. Close enough to amenities but far enough away to enjoy some peace and quiet. We thoroughly loved our stay and will definitly be returning! Thanks Laura

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave a review. It is wonderful to hear you enjoyed your short break. It is indeed very peaceful at Thornton. I enjoyed a walk yesterday and spotted 8 deer sleeping in the Wood. It was a lovely sight. If you enjoy walking we have OS maps in Skylark. There are also great walks along the Coastal Path, the River Tweed or even around Berwick Walls. A good choice for different abilities and interests. A list of which can be found in the cottage.
We very much hope to welcome you back in the future.
Best wishes
