I grew up in Devon where I first worked in hospitality and it was always my dream to own a holiday home for my friends and family to enjoy. My late husband was a builder and we built our own home in 2003 but sadly, he passed away from a fall whilst fishing in 2015. I sold our family home in 2017 and with the proceeds, wanted to invest in somewhere that our two girls could enjoy. I am currently studying to be an interior designer, and work for a holiday home company here in Devon as well as renovating the home I now share with my fiance, Tim, who was my late husbands best friend. It's a funny old life!

Why Ali Steere chose Sissi

Tim and I came to Sisi in September 2017 for a two week stay and fell in love with the place. I had been looking for somewhere to buy in Spain for about a year but couldn't quite find what I was looking for. We were due to fly home on the Tuesday evening so on the Sunday went souvenir shopping. We walked into one shop only to discover there was an estate agents at the back. I looked at a few properties to visit and then came across this one bedroom apartment. We went to view it on the Monday morning and by the Tuesday afternoon, all the documents were signed and I was on my way back home to UK. A few weeks passed and after a phone call from the estate agent, I had then agreed to buy the property below at the back of the block and the twins, Aphrodite and Apollo, were born. All of the windows and most of the doors needed replacing as well the inside and outside needed painting. There wasn't any air conditioning so this needed to be installed and there wasn't any access to the back terrace at this point so some building work was require. Over the next 5 visits, we transformed the apartments into comfortable dwellings having built and installed the kitchens, changed the showers, recovered the furniture and painted all the woodwork. We brought most things with us from the uk, ie the Chandelier which had been in my old home and various other decorative items so we are looking forward to our next visit and travelling light.

What makes this apartment unique

I first fell for the look of the building, the traditional blue and white. And then I stepped out on to the front terrace and just was transfixed by the mountain views. I could their history and just found myself gazing imagining all the stories they could tell. Next was the location. A few minutes walk up the road and you are at two of the best family run tavernas in Sisi, Neromilos and Liothito. A short walk the other way and you will reach Boufos Beach or the village where there are many more pubs and restaurants to suit all ages and tastes. There isn't a pool but most of the hotels allow you to use their facilities as you are likely to purchase refreshments or food whilst there. But it was also the people of Sisi that I fell in love with. The warmth, kindness and generosity show to us was like nowhere else I'd even been before.
