If you would love to spend some time completely relaxing in a sophisticated modern villa with one of the most privileged locations in an area famed for its natural beauty, and with breathtaking views in all directions, then look no further than Magnolia Residence (previously known as Kera View Villa until it was sold to a new owner in March 2024)). Originally built and furnished by an Oscar winning film producer and his wife, though it has just recently changed ownership, this lovely villa is both stylish and very comfortable. The infinity pool, terraces, and the balconies that lead out from the 3 bedrooms all overlook the gorgeous surrounding countryside, Kera Beach and Souda Bay, with an excellent vantage point to watch the local fishing boats and colourful catamarans during the day and the nightly ferries heading off to Athens. Despite having a stunning rural location with direct access to many walking trails, Magnolia Residence is situated conveniently within walking distance of the beach in Kera Cove, and all of the tavernas, shops and beaches in Almyrida, which is ideal for those who like to have a drink with their meals out and not have to worry about driving home.
Magnolia Residence is a very attractive and comfortable home which is air-conditioned throughout. For the cooler nights at the start and end of the season the A/C units double up as heaters, and there is full central heating of required (though fuel for this is not included in the rental price). Magnolia Residence has quality contemporary furnishings that blend effortlessly with the traditional pergolas, flagstones and natural stone walls. Cool floor tiles, white kitchen cabinets and built-in wardrobes give the villa a lovely light and airy feel whilst the diaphanous bedroom curtains and bed linens give splashes of colour to the villa. The fully equipped modern kitchen has every appliance that you could ask for including a ceramic hob, fan assist oven, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and coffee maker, and the downstairs cloakroom houses the washing machine. The living room is home to a WIFI hub with Free WIFI access, and a new Smart TV. All of the modern doors, windows, shutters and mosquito screens are made from Wedgewood blue coloured aluminium which perfectly matches the attractive blue wooden pergolas.
Despite the villa’s soothing interiors, you will probably spend most of your time relaxing outside on one of the many spacious terraces or cooling down in the infinity pool whilst taking in the glorious views. The property has been beautifully landscaped with natural stone walls and an abundance of typically Mediterranean flowers, shrubs and fruit trees which gives guests a choice of different areas in which to either enjoy family fun, or to escape for some privacy and alone time if needed, with the option of sun or shade. The flowers, shrubs and trees which have been planted on the driveway, lower terrace, and both sides of the pool terrace provide natural screening, a rainbow of brilliant colour, fruit straight from the tree, and include lemon, orange, pomegranate and olive trees, African daisies, geraniums, bougainvillea, hibiscus, margarita daisies, lemon verbena, and Washingtonian palms.
The pool terrace is large, and it incorporates different areas for sunbathing, shaded lounging and dining, and a barbeque cabana, and is quite simply a fantastic place in which to unwind and enjoy a delicious al-fresco meal. The pergola covered lounging area is well equipped with a sofa (different to the wicker couch shown in the photos which, together with the armchairs and wicker coffee table, are no longer there), a mosaic topped dining table and chairs. With unbelievable views, sun-loungers and a separate shower cubicle with both hot and cold running water, the pool terrace has it all. Clever lighting ensures that long hot summer days swimming and playing in the infinity pool will turn easily into enchanted nights cooking delicious freshly caught or grown local fish, meat and vegetables on the charcoal grill for mouth watering meals, or simply listening to the waves from nearby Kera beach whilst gazing at the hundreds of stars in the clear night sky and sipping a chilled glass of wine from the excellent local Dourakis winery.
Magnolia Residence is a captivating property that offers spectacular views, comfortable furnishings, and a convenient location close to the beach and many amenities – what more could you ask for! Even though you may never want to leave the villa, Kera is the perfect starting point for exploring the many sites that West Crete has to offer as it is only 10 minutes drive to the National Highway.

*** As of January 01 2024 the Greek government have implemented a new tax that is applied to all stays in short-term rental accommodation in Greece. The Climate Resilience Levy is a response to the devastating forest fires and floods that Greece has experienced in recent years, with the government hoping to generate extra funding that will go towards financing reconstruction, supporting victims, and increasing the country’s defences against future natural disasters.
The owners of all short-term rental accommodation are legally obliged to collect the Climate Resilience Levy as a separate tax for all overnight stays (per villa) as follows:
In 2024: €10.00 per night on stays between March 01 and October 31, and €4.00 per night on stays between November 01 and February 28/29.
In 2025: €15.00 per night on stays between March 01 and October 31, and €4.00 per night on stays between November 01 and February 28/29.
Whilst we understand the potential budget concerns of our guests, this tax/levy is beyond our control and we encourage our guests to see this as a way of contributing to the protection of the planet and the beautiful area where they are holidaying.
The Vrbo system does not yet have a section for collecting the Climate Resilience Levy and we have, therefore, had to add it to the billing section as an extra Fee which will show on the booking as a Host Fee or Adminstration Fee (until Vrbo update their system).
