About this property

3 Bedroom Villa , infinity pool, stunning sea & mountain views, close to beach.

If you would love to spend some time completely relaxing in a sophisticated modern villa with one of the most privileged locations in an area famed for its natural beauty, and with breathtaking views in all directions, then look no further than Magnolia Residence (previously known as Kera View Villa until it was sold to a new owner in March 2024)). Originally built and furnished by an Oscar winning film producer and his wife, though it has just recently changed ownership, this lovely villa is both stylish and very comfortable. The infinity pool, terraces, and the balconies that lead out from the 3 bedrooms all overlook the gorgeous surrounding countryside, Kera Beach and Souda Bay, with an excellent vantage point to watch the local fishing boats and colourful catamarans during the day and the nightly ferries heading off to Athens. Despite having a stunning rural location with direct access to many walking trails, Magnolia Residence is situated conveniently within walking distance of the beach in Kera Cove, and all of the tavernas, shops and beaches in Almyrida, which is ideal for those who like to have a drink with their meals out and not have to worry about driving home.

Magnolia Residence is a very attractive and comfortable home which is air-conditioned throughout. For the cooler nights at the start and end of the season the A/C units double up as heaters, and there is full central heating of required (though fuel for this is not included in the rental price). Magnolia Residence has quality contemporary furnishings that blend effortlessly with the traditional pergolas, flagstones and natural stone walls. Cool floor tiles, white kitchen cabinets and built-in wardrobes give the villa a lovely light and airy feel whilst the diaphanous bedroom curtains and bed linens give splashes of colour to the villa. The fully equipped modern kitchen has every appliance that you could ask for including a ceramic hob, fan assist oven, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and coffee maker, and the downstairs cloakroom houses the washing machine. The living room is home to a WIFI hub with Free WIFI access, and a new Smart TV. All of the modern doors, windows, shutters and mosquito screens are made from Wedgewood blue coloured aluminium which perfectly matches the attractive blue wooden pergolas.

Despite the villa’s soothing interiors, you will probably spend most of your time relaxing outside on one of the many spacious terraces or cooling down in the infinity pool whilst taking in the glorious views. The property has been beautifully landscaped with natural stone walls and an abundance of typically Mediterranean flowers, shrubs and fruit trees which gives guests a choice of different areas in which to either enjoy family fun, or to escape for some privacy and alone time if needed, with the option of sun or shade. The flowers, shrubs and trees which have been planted on the driveway, lower terrace, and both sides of the pool terrace provide natural screening, a rainbow of brilliant colour, fruit straight from the tree, and include lemon, orange, pomegranate and olive trees, African daisies, geraniums, bougainvillea, hibiscus, margarita daisies, lemon verbena, and Washingtonian palms.

The pool terrace is large, and it incorporates different areas for sunbathing, shaded lounging and dining, and a barbeque cabana, and is quite simply a fantastic place in which to unwind and enjoy a delicious al-fresco meal. The pergola covered lounging area is well equipped with a sofa (different to the wicker couch shown in the photos which, together with the armchairs and wicker coffee table, are no longer there), a mosaic topped dining table and chairs. With unbelievable views, sun-loungers and a separate shower cubicle with both hot and cold running water, the pool terrace has it all. Clever lighting ensures that long hot summer days swimming and playing in the infinity pool will turn easily into enchanted nights cooking delicious freshly caught or grown local fish, meat and vegetables on the charcoal grill for mouth watering meals, or simply listening to the waves from nearby Kera beach whilst gazing at the hundreds of stars in the clear night sky and sipping a chilled glass of wine from the excellent local Dourakis winery.

Magnolia Residence is a captivating property that offers spectacular views, comfortable furnishings, and a convenient location close to the beach and many amenities – what more could you ask for! Even though you may never want to leave the villa, Kera is the perfect starting point for exploring the many sites that West Crete has to offer as it is only 10 minutes drive to the National Highway.

*** As of January 01 2024 the Greek government have implemented a new tax that is applied to all stays in short-term rental accommodation in Greece. The Climate Resilience Levy is a response to the devastating forest fires and floods that Greece has experienced in recent years, with the government hoping to generate extra funding that will go towards financing reconstruction, supporting victims, and increasing the country’s defences against future natural disasters.

The owners of all short-term rental accommodation are legally obliged to collect the Climate Resilience Levy as a separate tax for all overnight stays (per villa) as follows:
In 2024: €10.00 per night on stays between March 01 and October 31, and €4.00 per night on stays between November 01 and February 28/29.

In 2025: €15.00 per night on stays between March 01 and October 31, and €4.00 per night on stays between November 01 and February 28/29.

Whilst we understand the potential budget concerns of our guests, this tax/levy is beyond our control and we encourage our guests to see this as a way of contributing to the protection of the planet and the beautiful area where they are holidaying.

The Vrbo system does not yet have a section for collecting the Climate Resilience Levy and we have, therefore, had to add it to the billing section as an extra Fee which will show on the booking as a Host Fee or Adminstration Fee (until Vrbo update their system).

Kera view
Bedrooms very small , walls offer little soundproofing. Pool not as described one depth throughout and only ladder access with three rungs so not good for children or people uncomfortable about plunging in , 1.7 m deep over whole pool . Is only 15 minute walk to down but because of very poor standard of driving in Crete you take your life in your hands walking at night even with torches . Outside area and views are good . Villa had just been sold to new owners when we stayed and needs some TLC .

Fantastic spot
The location and the property were absolutely perfect for a quiet week in the sun. The outdoor space is fantatstic the pool is just big enough for a satisfying dip to cool off. The covered area perfect for getting into the shade and lunches. The view is a real treat to wake up to every day. Inside the kitchen is well enough equipped to cook in with sharp chef knives, one of my bug bears is no sharp knives in rental properties. The sitting area is large enough for 4 of us and comfortable. There is a mini market at the coffee shop 5 mins walk down the path that would meet basic needs and a great supermarket in Almyrida for a bigger shop. We eat out in Almyrida a few times, all good, especially Lagos. If you walk down the path the other way and go straight down the hill when you meet the road you can get to a narrow beach for sea swimming. Like others have said the driveway entrance is very tight. we had a mid sized car and we could get in and out but it was hard. Don't go any bigger than a Citroen DS3. We did have some problems with the house, the Wifi wasn't working. Jimmy, the house manager is excellent, we had it sorted on the first working day. The final thing I would say is the upstairs space is smaller than it looks. Adequate bedroom space but the bathrooms are small.

So many issues
Good support from Frankie and Jimmy. There were many issues with the property: - leaking toilet onto the bathroom floor - wifi not working - outside lights not working - ant infestation - bathroom lights not working - broken lamps - towels changed only once a week - no microwave - have stayed in much better properties for far less money - area outside next to dining room is wasted space

June 2022 Stay
We are a family group of 4 adults and 2 children. We loved our stay at Villa Kera View and would stay again and recommend to others. There were too many positives about this villa to list so I will list the very few negatives. The pool was a single depth, about 1.7m deep, which is fine for adults but a problem for children that cannot swim. There is no safety barrier around the pool or gate security at the bottom of the access stairs. It would be so easy and inexpensive for the villa owner to fit a secure gate at the bottom to increase security for young children. The villa access is very difficult to drive a car in to as the approach road is quite long and very bumpy and narrow and the final turn into the villa is so tight as to risk damage to your hire car every time you attempt it. But to be fair I managed to avoid this damage during our week in Kera. It is only fair for me to finish this villa review on a positive. The villa amenities are great. The villa is very private and not overlooked at all and the views from this villa are to die for. I strongly suspect we will be back again in the future.

Great property, fantastic facilities and pool. Only drawback is location - down a rough track for driving and steep hills to walk anywhere. Overall, very pleased, highly recommended.

Fabulous!
Great villa within walking distance of resort with many bars and restaurants. Quite a hill back up but fine in the cool evening. Villa had everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Highly recommend though with pool not in view of main living space more suited to adults or families with older children. Great views from all rooms and pool area. Loved Crete.

About the host

Hosted by Villas Crete Holidays

Host profile image
Kera View Villa is exclusively booked by Villas Crete Holidays which is a registered Tourist Office, based in Hampshire, England, with a part time resort representative/administrator in Almyrida, Crete. Whilst most travel companies cover many different countries and/or areas of Greece and Crete, we at Villas Crete Holidays only work in the North West of Crete and we specialise in the Apokoranas region, just east of the historic Venetian town of Chania. The Apokoronas (including the villages of Almyrida, Kalives, Kokkino Horio, Plaka and Gavalohori) has long been a popular destination for holiday makers seeking a typically Greek seaside resort area that has many amenities, but is far removed from brash tourism. The area is renowned for its sandy beaches, crystal clear turquoise water, stunning views of Souda Bay and The White Mountains, excellent tavernas, and archaeological sites.

The director of Villas Crete Holidays is Frankie Miles. She has worked with rental villas on Crete for more than 20 years and has written the best selling guide book "Crete on the Road". The book includes detailed directions and information to all the major tourist attractions, as well as many hidden sites. Also in the book is the only existing map of the National Highway showing all of the entrances/exits and distances.

Both the company itself, and Frankie's book have been featured and recommended in articles in major British newspapers including the Sunday Mail and the Sunday Telegraph, as well as smaller publications such as Greece Magazine.

Why they chose this property

Privacy on the beautiful pool terrace, and infinity pool, panoramic sea and mountain views - all within walking distance of the beach, shops, and tavernas.

What makes this property unique

All of our villa owners employ a local house manager who you can call should you need any help at the villa itself.

We, at Villas Crete Holidays can help you with all aspects of your holiday including good value, reliable car hire, airport transfers, local information about shops, beaches, tavernas etc, detailed driving directions or walking directions for many routes. We can give you the contact details for private boat hire, private boat trips, private sight-seeing flights, horse riding, big game fishing, guided walking, and guided coach excursions. Our office staff speak English, Greek, and a little French, and have a vast list of local contacts.

Most importantly, because we handle many villas, in the unlikely event that there is an unforeseen problem at your villa, we can usually offer you an alternative villa (although this cannot be guaranteed in high season).

We have many years experience working in tourism on Crete, and most importantly this experience is specifically related to villa rentals. We use all of our knowledge and local contacts to ensure that your holiday goes off smoothly from start to finish, from first booking the villa that is most suitable for you, to your arrival back home.

When you are in resort we are available by phone during office hours for information, and we have an automated answering service should you have a medical emergency out of hours.
