A great family getaway!
What a beautiful property. It was located at the end of the road which afforded great privacy. It was a comfortable home and made for a relaxing time. The kids (and adults) enjoyed the yard and water. The dock was phenomenal for relaxing and water activities!
Beautiful home on an incredibly private lot with an expansive private dock on the cove.
Ample space for a large family with all the recreational essentials you will need. Favorite feature is how private it is. We enjoyed local lobster from Jameson’s and walked daily to Wallace’s General Store that has everything. Gourmet and local dinner at Primo’s was a worthy splurge.
We so appreciated the well seasoned and covered firewood supplied for both outdoor and indoor fires.
While we have no young children... there are plenty of toys available too.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The deck was perfect to hang out on all day along with the kayaks, canoe and SUP board. Kitchen was well equipped and we really enjoyed the huge deck every night. We were amazed that there was a minimal amount of insects in the evening. The location is close to Rockland, Thomason and Camden etc. it was nice to visit these towns and we had a lovely day on Monhegan. Comfortable beds too! Great communication with the Browers. Thank you for sharing your home with us
Wonderful vacation by the water
Very nice and relaxing! I even lost track of what day it was. The kids loved the water, loft and s’mores! We would love to come back again!
Nice Get-Away with the Family
This was a family get-away for my husband and myself, our 2 adult daughters and their husbands and the 3 grandkids (8, 3, 3) after a difficult year. The house was nicely equipped - particularly the kichen, and although we couldn't use the 3rd level 5th BR (with wall ladder) as the kids were too little, the 9 of us managed to fit in the 4 other BRs and used the sofa bed in the TV room too. The large dining table was perfect for shared meals and arts and crafts with the kids. And we loved the Living Room with fireplace and NO TV(there was one in the TV room for those who had withdrawal). We didn't have any cell phone service at all (AT&T and Verizon) but the internet service was excellent. We played games and did crafts in the evening and spent time together as a family. Only down side had nothing to do with the house, but the mosquitos were big and everywhere which really limited our ability to be outside even with tons of bug spray, so we didn't really get to benefit much from the dock or firepit or large front yard which was lovely. The guys tried fishing off the dock but didn't see a thing, and the day that they decided to go kayaking there were jellyfish everywhere - so that didn't happen. So not sure if June is just not the month to go, or if all the rain that they got in Maine earlier, just made this an exception. We did play some ping pong in the basement, and acutally ventured out just before low tide one day to look for clams, but didn't find a single one, just got stuck in the muck - but it was good for some laughs. With hindsight, a place with a small sandy beach or one near by might have been a better choice with small children as they really wanted to put their feet in the water. Wallace's was great for lunch and dinner carryout, and we enjoyed Lobster multiple nights from Jameson's as well as their delicious ice cream. And a visit to the Pemaquid Lighthouse was interesting and fun for all, and we did get to the Pemaquid Beach that afternoon which was very nice.
We are so glad that you enjoyed the house and the amenities inside. I'm sorry to hear about the mosquitos -- this year has been an especially wet spring and it appears to be a general problem everywhere. Since you had told us they were bad, we purchased a couple mosquito repellent lanterns that are supposed to work well in small areas like the decks, dock or fire pit. We hope you have a great rest of your summer.
The town of Friendship offers a true taste of Maine. One of the most productive lobster harbors in the world, you'll see a real working town while enjoying the peace and tranquility of this unique property on Johnson Cove. Being a tidal cove, you'll enjoy swimming and boating at high tide and good clamming at low tide. It's also just a short walk to the harbor, local market/deli, library, churches and school playground.
Other Activities: Kayaking, Canoeing, Clamming
