About this property
19 Acre Family Compound on coast w MDI views
Welcome to acres of tranquillity and peace at this historic home with private fields and meadows leading to a sheltered cove across the Bay from Bar Harbor and 15 minutes to Acadia's Schoodic Point. It is ideal for family gatherings to reconnect to another time. Play croquet, climb a tree house, stroll through our wildflower meadow, read a book by the fire in the library, hike Acadia and end the day in a hot tub with a view of Cadillac mountain. THE WAY LIFE SHOULD BE.
The space
Our family has spent summers or lived year round in the area for over 100 years and we would be happy to provide any wisdom we can on all things Downeast Maine including off the beaten trail hikes and recreational activities
Five adult BRs w/ ocean/MDI views. Kitchen w/ sitting room, all w/ water and MDI views. The lawn with outdoor shower, grill, sandbox, and hammock features a path through fields down steps to a private shallow cove, ideal for clamming and exploring.
The house had a kitchen installed in 2019 and underwent a major renovation in 2023. It has has an old wing with some older doors and floorboards (and three bedrooms) and a more modern "new" wing on the other side with a large masters bedroom and three additional bedrooms. The view of Mount Desert Island across French Bay's is spectacular and at night you can see the lights of Bar Harbor twinkling in the distance.
Guest access
There is ample parking and the house is just a few minutes from Young's Market and gas station. It is close to Winter Harbor with it's restaurants and farmer's markets on the "quiet side" of Acadia National Park.
Other things to note
The home is ideally suited for large families who like to be active outside. Croquet set; soccer goals and soccer balls and frisbees; bocce; hammocks, an outdoor shower. We have a well-stocked library of books and games. We recently installed Starlink wifi and it works throughout the house, but there is no TV. The house itself reflects different styles, starting with it's historic dining room with its wood beamed ceilings, it's 1950s inspired living room, modern country kitchen and new wing. We welcome pets for an additional cleaning fee.
