Ocean view, comfort and privacy, and much more!

First of all, let me say that this was A GREAT PLACE TO STAY for our vacation. The rental unit is a newly-completed walk-out basement converted to a self-contained 2 bedroom suite with it's own entrance. The east-facing entrance features a nearly full-length wall of windows that flood the suite in bright, natural daylight. The owners are Melinda and Daniel, a delightful young couple (and fascinating to talk to) who live right upstairs, and are very helpful and approachable. The suite has two roomy bedrooms, comfortable beds, a large well-appointed living/dining area, and a very nice bathroom with combination tub/shower. The kitchen offers good workspace and ample cupboards, with stainless steel appliances and quartz countertops. The stacked laundry pair is conveniently located off the kitchen. There is a large wall-mounted flat-screen TV in the sitting area, Roku-enabled with NetFlix and many other on-demand movie streaming services, but no cable TV (Daniel told us they would be adding a cable TV package soon). There are wall-mounted electric heaters in each room that let you find the right temperature to suit your comfort level. The property is located on the east-slope of the Saanich Ridge, and is in a hilly area. The driveway is quite steep, and there is a stepped walkway to access the unit. My wife and I are 60ish and had no problem navigating our way in and out of the property, but people with mobility issues may find the terrain challenging. The mountain-side location is very popular and affords great views of the Gulf Islands and the San Juan Islands. The location is very good; about a 15 minute drive to either downtown Victoria to the south, or to Victoria International Airport/BC Ferries dock to the north. There are lots of walking paths and cycling trails in the area, and numerous parks and small lakes, beaches, etc. We saw deer wandering the neighbourhood every day. The area and the suite are very quiet; it is as if you are alone in the country but you're still actually in a small city with all the conveniences. Shopping, grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops are all close by. The suite is brand new - we were the very first guests! What a surprise to us! Would we stay here again? YES! Absolutely we would. If you are looking for a roomy and quiet place to spend some precious vacation time, without all the noise and hustle and bustle of the downtown, then this may well be the place you are looking for. Wonderful visit!

Very Impressed!

We spent a wonderful week at the Ocean Muse in September 2018. The photos on the website don’t do justice to the property and its location. The owners have made this apartment very comfortable; it is exceptionally clean, well equipped and the view of the ocean with the sun rising in the morning is one we’d like to enjoy every day. The owners were very welcoming and accommodating, and even though this is a downstairs apartment, there was absolutely no noise from above. Could not have asked for anything more and we recommend it highly - thanks so much!!!

This is a beautifully situated and furnished property in a quiet and convenient location.

This ground floor suite is ideal for one or two couples or a family. The owners live upstairs and were very helpful in meeting our needs and suggesting places to go. The kitchen and living area are very well furnished with full kitchen facilities and many extras. The beds are quite comfortable. The suite overlooks the strait and is near The Beach House, an excellent restaurant. Groceries are not far away. Butchart Gardens are nearby and are a must see. This is an excellent jump off spot for Victoria and the South coast without being in the city. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ocean Muse and give it our highest recommendation.

Wonderful combination of chic and modern. Idyllic location. Home from home.

A lot of thought and consideration has gone into making this little gem of a property into a comfortable little haven. It really felt like I was stopping in a friends home. It was perfect for my family of four adults. Location is relaxing, very close to a charming beach and an excellent farm shop. We tried the chicken and beef and all was very tender and tasty. Great local bar/restaurant on the beach which was in walking distance. Easy commute by car to Victoria (approx 15 mins). Charming City. Melinda and Dan were great hosts. Very helpful with what to do in the surrounding area. Really felt spoilt after our visit to Ocean Muse, couldn’t ask for more than that!! Would highly recommend it.

Beautiful Place to Stay

We loved this place. It was so beautiful and peaceful and the owners couldn't have been nicer. It's in a great location to explore Victoria without being in the congestion of the downtown. The place is wonderfully decorated and the owners stock it with just about anything you could possibly need. If we come back to this area we will most certainly try to stay here again.

The Ocean Muse was absolutely lovely!

A great location; minutes from downtown Victoria, from the Syndey aquarium, from markets, and parks and, of course, the beaches. The place was immaculate. The beds were comfy and the hosts were gracious. HIGHLY recommend.

This modern accommodation is superb and comfortable, everything we needed and more, and made us feel right at home – however at home we do not have the incredible view from the eastern expanse of large windows overlooking the Juan de Fuca Strait! For us the walks were enjoyable and easy to get to the beach, community shopping which included groceries at The Red Barn (healthy food selections including gluten free products) and restaurants that are very trendy and pleasant to visit. This accommodation is right on one of Victoria's most famous bike/hike trails, so bring your bikes, running shoes and cameras. We were able to really enjoy the Victoria and Sooke areas on this trip and the weather was superb.

Welcoming modern place with an ocean view

We were welcomed by our hosts Dan and Melinda in person and with a delightful hospitality basket. The home including the kitchen has all the necessities and more. All of our needs were covered. A short walk down to the beach also reveals a great restaurant. We explored Victoria for 4 days and this was a great base. We all recommend the Ocean Muze very highly.

Fabulous comfort and location

Dan and Melinda have provided a fully renovated, completely outfitted accommodation in a central location that allows easy access to many desirable options (e.g., ocean beach, freshwater lakes, Lochside Trail, restaurants, shopping, and easy driving to downtown). It's spacious, comfortable, quiet, private, has a view of the ocean, and includes every convenience one could think of. It was a perfect option for us ... thank you for being such wonderful hosts!

Immaculate, Comfortable, Well Appointed and Convenient!

The Ocean Muse, besides having a Wonderful Ocean and Coastal View, was spacious and fully stocked with everything we needed for our stay AND came with a thoughtful and Generous Welcome basket. Melinda and Dan are welcoming and gracious hosts with tips and details of sites to see and places to eat! We ranged from Cordova Bay to Salt Spring Island to Parksville and Tofino to Victoria and Port Renfrew. My favorite dinner was at Point No Point in Shirley but I think my wife enjoyed Shelter Restaurant in Tofino. For breakfast we frequented The Village Restaurant right down the road from The Muse off the 17 but also really enjoyed the Malahat Chalet on the 1 on the way to Tofino. We both LOVED the Cathedral Grove as well as many other forest hikes. And, yes, The Goats on a Roof in Coombs. There is SO MUCH TO SEE on the island and not enough time for it all. On THIS Trip! We'll be back. Hopefully The Ocean Muse will be available when we return. Thanks for being there Melinda and Dan. All the best. Allan and Carol

Clean and Serene

Quiet neighborhood, lovely view, clean and comfortable house. We drove to downtown, Uvic, grocery store and sight seeing quite easily. Walked to the beach and dinner at The Beach House. Dan was kind and made sure we didn't need anything, thanks.

Home away from home! Will recommend to friends and family!

We stayed at the "ocean muse" the 2nd week of August. The apartment has modern appliances and many special appointments that make it feel very much like a home. Would recommend this suite for anyone who is planning an extended trip. Wonderful air and so quite. Everything you might need has been carefully arranged. Great welcome basket (perfect wine choice guys). Our hosts were very warm and helpful. Dan's suggested hikes (Mt.Doug) and market trips were spot on. We loved the "Thrifty Foods" supermarket for fresh produce and the seafood, meats (10 min away). Top quality. We enjoyed cooking/grilling in the apartment almost every night. Very easy with the porch and gas grill. Melinda's recommended, "pink bicycle restaurant" was a great burger spot. We tried to go a 2nd time on Sunday but they were closed (Tues-Sat). Victoria is so close (15 min) and easy to just hop into to town for dinner. I loved the morning sunlit apartment with the spectacular view of the bay. Up at dawn every day with my "Murchies" coffee. Greeted by gentle "Sophie" the owners Lab. "Such a good dog"! This apartment will be great for folks that love to be outdoors hiking and biking. Thank you! Sander R Portland, OR

Victoria vacation Aug 2017

My husband & I stayed at the Ocean Muse for a week. The suite was wonderful. Everything was new and clean and better than the pictures indicate. Melinda and Dan were very helpful and welcoming. The kitchen was filled with condiments, also coffee and tea along with a wonderful welcome basket. The property is situated halfway between Sidney and Victoria. Only a 15 minute drive in either direction. The neighborhood was very walking friendly. Went for two walks and saw deer each time. Would highly recommend this suite although it is not suited for the handicapped as the driveway has a rather steep incline .

Der Aufenthalt war wunderschön und wir haben uns sehr gut erholt!

Die Ferienwohnung hat unsere Erwartungen in jeder Hinsicht übertroffen! Sie ist noch viel schöner und moderner eingerichtet, als auf den Bildern ersichtlich wird. Darüberhinaus extrem sauber und gepflegt, es ist alles vorhanden, was man sich für einen perfekten Aufenthalt nur wünschen kann! Sie ist sehr ruhig gelegen, aber trotzdem ist mann mit dem Auto innerhalb weniger Minuten mitten im Leben. Auch den innerhalb weniger Minuten erreichbaren Strand haben wir sehr genossen. Dan und Melinda waren perfekte Gastgeber, in der Wohnung ist ausgezeichnetes Informationsmatetial über die Möglichkeiten der Umgebung vorhanden. Wir können diese Wohnung besten Gewissens weiterempfehlen und werden hoffentlich irgendwann wiederkommen!
