Very nice restored home with amazing views. Unusual customer service.
Overall, it’s a very nice restored home and historic property. The views by the pool are amazing as you can see the entire valley. Very private. The main downside is that access is up a long, windy dirt road which made it difficult in and out. It’s also not very close to town or conveniences. The best nice towns (Cortona and Arezzo - both great) were at least 30 min. It’s a great spot if you want lots of downtime chilling out at home and relaxing. I will say the kitchen is tiny so don’t plan on entertaining or cooking easily, however. That was disappointing given how it’s far from nearby restaurants. We also had a strange and uncomfortable check in with a hostile property manager (Terry) who made it seem as if we were an inconvenience to him. The owner seemed nice but speaks no English so has no idea of how condescending his property manager behaves (toward him as well). His bad bedside manner made for a very poor first impression. He was at least responsive to issues that arose. We are giving this 4 stars due to the views and the house itself. Just be ready to work for it - in hindsight, our group was not and it would have been good to better understand the proximity in advance.
Dear Kate and friends
Thanks for taking the time to post your comments. We are very pleased that your stay here was for the most part enjoyable - although we would have preferred it to have been 100%.
One important point concerns communication. In all of our correspondence with our guests, we ask to keep us informed of progress and, to send us text/sms when about 30-40 minutes away and again when closer to the town. This allows us to organise ourselves to be ready to meet guests promptly and advise if there might be a delay. Unfortunately we had little warning and we were not able to coordinate things as we would have liked . The waiting time and consequences may well have been the issue here. It is always our intention to offer a real and warm welcome to guests and we are disappointed that you feel this was not the case.
We would like to comment on some of the other issues you mentioned.
The villa is in the countryside of Tuscany, about 5 km ( 3 miles) to the centre of town where there are large markets, restaurants, bars and, a train station (Florence/Rome line). From the villa guests can visit many of Tuscany's hill towns, wineries and festivals - all within easy reach. Tuscany is Region of Italy (about the same size as New Jersey) - but conveniently from here, guests can easily visit many of the most beautiful parts including Cortona, Pienza, Montepulciano etc.
We appreciate fully your comments about the road to the house which had been badly affected by heavy rains. The road (which is a state road) was being repaired during your stay , installing additional drainage to help protect it.
One other important point which you mentioned is that we are very responsive to any issues arising. Although we wish our guests to be independent and feel at home here, we are always available to provide advice and help in any way we can to make our guests vacation 100% enjoyable.
Although you feel that we have fallen short on this occasion, if your travels do bring you to Tuscany again, we shall be very pleased to welcome you and to afford you the best hospitality which we take pride in providing.
Waking up was a wonderful experience!
Waking up was a wonderful experience! . After some huge headaches leaving the airport late and then arriving at the villa after 23:00 at night - It was a relief after our very long journey to finally unwind and then to bed.
The morning brought with it the awesome views from the bedroom window of the tuscan scenery, the old tuscan town and - “our” pool. All of the chaos of the previous day vanished in those few minutes of realising what a wonderful place we were at and the courtesy and patience of Terry who waited for us and led us to the house from the main town.
The villa well kept and comfortable with many warm touches to make it home. Given too our tardy arrival - the thoughtful gift of fresh fruit, some breakfast things and bottle of wine were unexpected treats for us after such a long journey and so we are very grateful to the owner Russano for this thoughtfulness.
The additional comfort of air conditioning in all the bedrooms was an added bonus for our friends, but for Tom and I having the screened windows open and listening to the song of nightingales - was a wonderful way to fall asleep.
Having just four days nights here was not sufficient. We spent the majority of our time relaxing by the pool and venturing only to Castiglion and Cortona - both very wonderful and full of interesting shops and museums.
A short but very relaxing experience.
Hello Vikki, Thanks for taking the time to to leave your comments we appreciate that very much.
We are very pleased that you enjoyed your short stay with us and that you made the villa your home here in Tuscany. Perhaps next time, a longer visit to enjoy more of the region.
Our best wishes to you and your family.
great family reunion in Tuscany
Very warm and helpful welcome including fresh fruit, wine and very local olive oil... from the olive groves around the villa.
The house was in very good order with pretty much everything we needed - including good Wufi and, an Apple tv. The self contained and very cosy annex perfect for our daughter, son in law and new grandson,, The main house large seating and dining area for all 7 us, but most of our time was either by the lovely pool or the very very large terrace. Views here can never disappoint ( we even enjoyed watching out over an afternoon sudden rain shower).
around the house are olive groves, vineyards, fields of wheat, sunflowers- just perfect. going out to explore Castilion , cortona , pienza the wine area if montepulciano and chianti a real treat - having tried the produce for some years.
A good find for our family which we can recommend to friends without a doubt
Greetings Toby and family,

If there is anything you think will improve our future guests experience here, please send us a note. For now, we look forward to welcoming you again another time...
Really stunning location with beautiful views
We chose this villa as it looked like being the perfect relaxing retreat for 6 friends to catch some late summer sun and enjoy the Tuscan autumnal food offerings. I was lucky enough to come out ahead of the rest and have two wonderful days at a nearby B&B. We had a lovely welcome from Terry at check-in and he had already provided me with all the salient points about the villa and the locality. The pictures didn't really do it justice, or were maybe taken at a different time of year - it really is a stunning location with beautiful views and it would be great to see it in summer when all the sunflowers are in the fields, but the autumn colours were spectacular. As there were 6 of us in the group, two couples and two singles, the accommodation was perfect. My husband and I stayed in the annex (as I made the booking, I got to choose), which is about 15m away from the main bedroom and has its own sitting room and French windows from the bedroom onto the gardens. It also has a small kitchen, but we didn't use this as we preferred to eat as a group with our friends. One couple had the large double room and the girls had the second with twin beds. Both were comfortable and clean, as was ours. We had breakfast on the patio off the small but functional kitchen of the main villa (got some supplies in one of the big local supermarkets, Conad). We ate out both nights of our stay but, had a relaxed lunch on the terrace one day (the weather was good enough to eat outside for lunch (and we just missed the sudden rain storm on Wednesday PM). If you like truffles and Porcini, its a great time of year to be in Tuscany (we ate loads of them). It would have been a little too chilly to eat outside in the evenings and we were too lazy, but there are some fabulous places near by (Terry recommended two great spots, one in Castiglion Fiorentino and another in nearby Cortona)! The earth moved for us on Wednesday evening, when there were two little shakes that definitely made the chairs and tables jump. We didn't have any kids with us but I could image it being quite safe for them to play an explore and the pool was a decent size, although too nippy for us to jump in at this time of year, but we did chill out beside it in the 24 degree sunshine. We all agreed that we would have to stay for longer next time.
A very enjoyable vacation, perfec for our extended
our first impressions were that we had found something very special - and that remained the case until we packed up headed home. The villa , split between the main family building and the close by annex was in excellent condition (apparently it took many years to restore and, was completed only this spring). The 3 bedrooms very pleasant and the bathrooms clean and with most things you might need (a few more shelfs would have been better). The kitchen had everything including a big coffee pot and the added bonus of Apple TV gave us a choice of films on the few cloudy days.
The terrace has views which you can enjoy all day along with the well placed pool.
The owner or representative was helpful and gave us lots of local advice on where to eat , go etc.Although we did a lot of research, this local knowledge was great
The villa proved the perfect solution for us, and we are happy to recommend it both here and to our friends
Anghiari, Arezzo, Cortona, Castiglion Fiorentino, Pienza, Montepulciano, Siena, Florencia
Castiglion Fiorentino: -
