This beach House was clean and comfortable. A bit noisy at times and allowed for baby crying noise from guest next door but overall it was a restful stay. Would be helpful to have a few basic cooking spices /condiments and spend a bit of $$ on bath soap.
Comfortable and Close
My wife and I brought our grand daughter to Newport for a week in the sand and sun. This unit was close and comfortable for beach fun. It had the basic amenities, beach chairs/toys and a nice patio with a grill and table for quick dinners.
There were a few issues. The bedroom has one AC that cannot cool the entire unit. Another AC in the living area would be good. The bath/shower pull-up lever is frozen in the "up" position, meaning one can take a shower, but not a bath. That was a problem for our grand daughter. We notified the manager and a work order was created but no one came to fix it during our stay.
The property location is great, the property management is not.
The location of this property is great. Real close to the beach and not far from eating shopping etc. It could used a little updating, but kind of expected that for a small apartment close to the beach. When I stayed it was managed by Beachveiw realty. After booking I received at least 8 different emails. Having to sift through what was important and what was not was annoying. Checkin was a very small window and needed to be done at the office. As my plane came in after hours I was instructed to contact them.
They indicated that they would have an lock box on the door and email me the key earlier that day. As I was concerned things would be messed up I emailed them confirming, called them the day before. Since I didn't received any email and I was about to board my flight, I emailed them again. Once my flight landed I got the email with the instructions. They put the lock box on a side garage door where there was no lights. Took me 20 minutes to find and had difficulty opening because it was old and it was pitch black. They could have easily put it on many other doors on the entry side of the house. These were well lit and there would not be any concern that I was breaking into someone else's place. Many simpler and more efficient ways to handle this situation. I discussed this with them and they just agreed but didn't seem interested.
Like I said, decent place. But the heat didn't work. Got down to 59. The next day they required me to come to the office and sign something even though I previously signed multiple things.They did promptly send someone out to fix the heat. It wasn't broken, somebody just turned off the gas. No idea why that wasn't caught before.
When they say compact car, they really mean it! That garage is very small and the turning area to get in even was difficult with the little car we had.
Going back to the key situation.They were supposed to give keys to the place and to a door that got into the laundry. Well none of them worked on the laundry. When I ask them they told me what I "should" have gotten. Just like the heat "should" have worked. Again, they were very responsive and brought a different set of keys out. One key to the place and one to the laundry. Two other keys that didn't open either.
I received an email before checkout indicating I should follow the checklist. When I contacted them they again indicated what "should" have been there. lol. None was provided and I had to request one. Poorly managed.
Even though Martin arrived at our office already agitated and demanding, it is easy for us to understand Martin's frustration with his multiple unfortunate experiences. There were several issues that occurred during his stay: some within our power to fix; others were not (such as the heater/gas issue, which was unknown to us). Lock boxes cannot be placed on any other doors due to their type of handle. However, we'll certainly look into the way our staff handled the situation....if Martin is being forthright about our staff responses, we certainly did not perform good customer service!! It doesn't sound like our usual mode of service at all. I would have been upset too! In the meantime, the keys have been tested to avoid further issues. The check-out list was indeed in the unit's Guest Information Notebook when we went to investigate.
What is most upsetting is that not only was our guest inconvenienced, but this sub-par review is adversely affecting this property and its wonderful owner; and both do not deserve it.
