Amazing Cabin to Enjoy Life
This home is a true gem! If you are looking to get away from it all but still enjoy the comforts of a lovely, well appointed home, look no further.
The setting is beautiful...peaceful and private with amazing mountain views of Glacier. The owners’ love of their home is apparent in the welcoming air. The cabin is inviting, warm, cozy and perfectly clean with thoughtful attention to detail. Information regarding the homes workings, such as the awesome fireplace, was thorough and clear as was the abundance of info about area activities. And Sue and Greg were quick to reply to all of our questions.
We came for some peace (check!) and for the hiking (check!)...there are trails right from the house and abundant and spectacular hiking in nearby Glacier National Park.
Thanks to our gracious and accommodating hosts for sharing their truly special home. Ours was a truly memorable stay and we hope to return again.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We are very happy that everything worked out and you had an amazing visit to the cabin and area.
A perfect off-the-grid home!
Everything was very organized and well-communicated during the entire process. Home is a large, gorgeous property surrounded by raw nature and filled with fascinating MT, Glacier, and general items that really make the home feel warm. House provides a lot of baseline items that's appreciated, owner does a great job at calling out anything you should be sure to bring. The house is exactly as described - a beautiful off-the-grid home - and the asks by the owner to maintain the home were extremely reasonable given the type of home and location. Any negative reviews seem to be from renters not reading the information about the property/area the owners provided, we were more than satisfied with everything and found the info provided was extremely detailed and accurate. Couldn't recommend staying here enough!
Thank you so much for your kind words. We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay. It's important to us that our guests are informed and that this is the right location for them.
Attention do detail best describes this Lodge. The house is immaculate and seems brand new. Don't be afraid of being off the grid, it was seamless. I enjoyed watching the battery level as we went thru the day. The decor is really neat, with great 'cabin' feel. A couple of notes....
1. Dirt road. About 29 miles of it. It's 2 lane and not as bad as it sounds. We had a Subaru outback and it worked great. Definitely get an SUV preferably AWD. By the end of our stay I felt like it was like my own personal road rally.
2. Google Maps. Got us there at 1 am. You need to download an offline map onto your phone because you lose broadband signal about 3 miles in.
3. Go to the mercantile and grab some beer and food at the saloon. It's awesome. Mercantile has staples like bread and milk but you do pay for the convenience.
4. We did the following highly recommended adventures: Drive Going to Sun Road. Stop at Logan pass and hike to hidden lake. Don't be deterred by the parking lot full signs. We went in and drove around until someone left. Avalanche lake was awesome, we saw black bears. The white water rafting was fun, not terribly fast in August. Go with the place that serves dinner. It was very good. Bowman Lake is very pretty. Road to get there is not bad. One final note on the trash. You will need to carry it out. The recommended place in Columbia Falls is open 8-5, and is free.
Thanks for taking the time to write a review! We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay and your review will be very helpful for others.
Very nice property and very well-kept. So peaceful on the back porch. It was nice to come back to solitude after a day at the park. Also, numerous trails/lakes to explore close to the cabin.
Thank you so much for your kind comments. We are very happy that you enjoyed your time at our lodge and exploring the area.
Beautiful Secluded Home
We loved this property more than any other we have ever stayed at. It is thoughtfully and beautifully decorated, it is near an entrance to the Park (Polebridge) that has easy access to Kintla and Bowman lakes. We enjoyed the merc and the saloon and enjoyed being away from it all. Our kids loved it! We want to come back someday!
In our travels we have stayed in remote locations and in very comfortable homes, but the Lodge was the first time we ever experienced both at the same time. This home is very well-constructed and solid with large, functional spaces and comfortable furnishings. And the owners have thought of every little detail from a fully-stocked library of books to clean windows to take in the views. During our visit the daytime temperatures were in the 90s and smoke was washing across the entire West, but it stayed comfortable and cool in the house. We experienced privacy, tranquility, and plenty of creatures running about in the field. We really enjoyed hanging out in Polebridge, only a short drive from the Lodge, as well as driving to Glacier and the National Forest. We had no problem with the owners' request that we conserve water and energy and doing so did not detract from the experience at all. In our view it's beyond luxurious to have hot and cold running water, a full stove, and climate control while off the grid. The owners clearly are very attached to their Lodge retreat and it shows in the impeccable quality - so we are grateful they were willing to share it with us!
Thank you Rachael for your kind review. We are so happy that you enjoyed it even though it wasn't under the greatest circumstances with all of the smoke in and around Glacier. We hope you can return another year when the area isn't plagued with the terrible fires.
