The master bedroom has a balcony with stunning views over the mountains and to the north-east Playa Blanca on Lanzarote. Lovely stay

We really enjoyed our time at Villa Gecko. The house is well equiped and communication with Don is fast and easy. We would definitely stay here again.

Nice House

If your are a surfer you are lucky. Only a few km away, you are at some nice spots. If you want to go to the cities in the North it's a good place to start.The pool, tennis court and basketball place are great and within a minute you are there.

Great time here! Hoep to come back one day!

I had never been to Fuerteventura and came across Don's villa via Vrbo-was attracted to it from the photos description, plenty of good reviews, option to use communal pool (inc a toddler pool) and very good value for money. The views of the back garden and additional landscape were stunning espcially at Sunrise. We enjoyed many breakfasts in the front garden and were greeted on many occasions by a neighbourhood cat (also saw Lizards and wild hedgehogs in another neighbours garden). The location was great as there is a resort nearby so we can the option to pay and dine there for a few nights. We also had failry quick access to tourist spots on the East and West Coast.

Quiet and sunny

Nice little villa on the edge of the desert. Showing some signs of wear, but clean, tidy and good value for money. Had everything we needed. Hope to go again.

Fantastic Stay

We have been holidaying in the North of Fuerteventura for many years, this time we decided to try a villa. We found this fantastic property on VRBO and made an enquiry, Don the owner responded to our questions within minutes. The booking and arrival process was straight forward and easy. The villa is very well equipped, clean and comfortable. The location was great for us as we had a car and could travel around the area. The sun loungers and outside chairs were suffering a bit from the wind etc and could have done with a good clean but this didn’t spoil our stay. Highly recommend this villa and the owner Don is very helpful.

Nice, but many things should get fixed

It is a cute little house. We enjoyed the stay, but it could be better. In the sofas were little bugs, they have bitten me to hell. The toilet seat downstairs was moving hardcore every time you made a movement. The clothes horse was too rusty, so you couldn’t use it. In addition there should be more space in the closets or additional ones, there’s not a lot of space if you come with more than two people, even if this is a house ! Many small repairs should be done, than it would have been perfect. Thank you for everything.

Villa Gecko

Villa Gecko sits in the moonscape of N Coast Fuerteventura ,surfers and get away from it all people will love it .Good Pool on complex Villa adequately equipped,though you would struggle with 4 adults in the kitchen area .El Cotillo has perfect beaches ,we have been coming to this area for 25 years and it is being discovered at an alarming pace (for us) come before it is spoiled and it’s down at heel charm is eradicated Fuerteventura is a special place

Nice villa, great location (need a car), good facilities.

Nice villa, good kitchen, nice layout, good location, good kitchen. Comfy beds, good loungers. Only a couple of negatives toaster didn't work (unless you held it down), no microwave and wifi password invalid (not necessarily a bad point). Other than that would recommend staying here beautiful location good views of the north coast and Lanzarote (if it's not hazy). Nice bistro's in Lajares (5 min drive), Correlejo and Cotillo only 15 min drive. Weather was also brilliant for February! Everything you need for a quiet holiday away.

Peaceful base to explore the north of the island.

The property was as described, well maintained and clean. The gardens gave areas where you could enjoy the sun, or keep in the shade, plus the roof terrace, accessed from the main bedroom. The house was well equipped, though a microwave would have been desirable. We found the shutters, on each window were an excellent means of keeping the sun out when we were out and about. When back the doors and windows could be opened to take advantage of the Fuerteventura breezes. The only minor gripe was that there was a shortage of towels and we actually bought some locally which will travel out again the next time we are in the Canaries. The main bed sheet, though clean was stained by, probably sun tan lotion. All in all, it was good value, secure and the shared pool an added bonus. If you do book to stay on Origo Mare, remember to slow down to a crawl by the 2nd tree on the right on the entrance road! You think you have seen potholes? Think again!

Good base

This is my 3rd stay at this property. It has always been a good base to explore the northern end of the islands with its wonderful beaches. We did find the CCTV cameras inside the villa a little intrusive, not knowing if we were being watched, although we were told we were not. Perhaps external ones would act as a deterrent to criminals and give a more relaxed experience indoors. With time you expect some wear and tear to the property, which had occurred, but security needs to be a priority. Unfortunately the patio doors to the rear could not be locked as the aluminium frame was damaged, preventing the locking mechanism from lining up and securing the door. Fortunately the external shutters could be lowered to give adequate security, but I felt this should be addressed. The banisters of the stairs were loose and the ceiling light fitting split. Lastly the front gate catch didn't align correctly, possibly due to internal corrosion. This meant before it could be shut, the catch had to be manually aligned to work, or as we did, wedged it open with a stone. Overall it is a good property but just needs a little TLC to bring back to the excellent condition I have found in the past. Even with the defects mentioned, I would still stay here again. One last thing, if you want to dine out, I'd recommend the complex hotel's dinner buffet! 19 Euros for an excellent range of food and basic drinks included!

Ideal base for exploring the north of the island

This was my second stay at this property, which is on the edge of a quiet urbanisation. The property is a semi detached house with a master bedroom and bathroom upstairs, with patio doors to a spacious balcony, overlooking desert, with volcanos in the distance. Downstairs is a second bedroom with twin beds and a further bathroom. There is also an open plan kitchen diner and lounge area. The only facility missing was a microwave, but as we ate out every night, this wasn't a problem. The villa was clean and in good order, with small gardens front and rear, both offered seating or sun loungers. Wifi and a smart TV were available, but you do need a router unless you want everything in Spanish. I found internet streaming to my laptop to be an acceptable alternative. After trying the restaurant on the complex, it became apparent that the buffet meals on offer at the hotel were a better option in terms of variety and value, that is if you don't mind lots of young children in attendance. The villa offers access to a communal swimming pool 5 minutes walk away. Because of its location, a car is a must. There are several car hire companies at the airport, but I always check on comparison sites before booking. Often the cheapest price, isn't so in the long run. Check ratings of renters and go for the full tank to full tank option. I have found out from previous trips that the extra optional insurance is well worth it and generally that offered from AXA is best value, though in the event of a claim, you will have to pay up front and claim back after.

Perfect Getaway from it all

In terms of the property, it was just as described. It sits in the Origo Mare Development at the north of the island. This was one of the nicest villas in terms of the overall look compared to all the others -many are derelict and in the process of being gutted out for sale. The property has lovely gardens and stunning views. Fantastic front porch to sit out on an evening, amazing views across the wilderness from the master bedroom terrace. A wonderful rear garden with the same views, with sun loungers to relax on. Inside the villa is well equipped with everything you need. Kitchen was great - dishwasher and washing machine were a bonus!! Both Bathrooms are up to standard as are the 2 bedrooms. It really is all lovely and just as described. Good Wifi and basic tv/dvd (great for the kids) - would of been nice to have an outside light out the front over the patio - candles are a nice touch but the wind always got the better of them!! (but that really is a small thing) Wonderful villa - perfectly clean!!. There is a box of outdoor/pool/beach toys (only noticed on the 2nd last day!!) The pool is shared with others but there was hardly ever anyone else in it! Would be great if the villa had a couple of cheap fold up sun loungers that could be carried to and from the villa to the pool. The Origo Mare complex has a good waterpark for the kids 18 euros per day for adults and 12 euros for kids (keep the wrist bands on from the first day you pay!! -they never notice when you go back lol) Google/trip advisor Origo Mare as it has its Pro's and Con's. None of this detracts from Villa Gecko - Superb Value for Money. A brilliant base for exploring the island - we hired a car for 2 weeks (autoresien were fabulous to deal with - thanks for the tip!!) and spent most of our time exploring the island. Corralejo, el cotillo and Lajares are all great -we ate out every night in those 3 places except twice in the 2 weeks and never had a bad meal. The communication with Don from start to finish was fantastic - Thank you Don - Myself and the family had a fantastic holiday at your villa - I can see why its booked up for most of the summer 2020!! Well done and thank you again. PS your photos dont do the villa justice!! I took loads of photos if you want to use them!! Hope to do business again and i will be recommending to everyone to look up the villa when i go back to work on Monday!!!!!

Alles in allem toll

Das Haus ist groß für 4 Personen super geeignet. 2 Badezimmer mit dusche und WC, dass man auch da für sich sein kann.Schöne ruhige Lage. Die Terrasse eignet sich gut zum draußen sitzen am Abend. In der Küche ist auch alles vorhanden dass man sich viel kochen kann. Wenn wir wieder nach Fuerteventura kommen werden wir wieder hier ein Ferienhaus mieten.

Precioso

Todo muy bien, muy limpia, con todas las comodidades he utensilio de cocina, todo muy completo el único fallo por poner algo es que no tiene microondas, pero la verdad que es nosotros no nos perjudicó. Melisa la mujer encargada por si necesitas algo encantadora, superatenta, nos faltaba la barbacoa y al día siguiente nos la dejó por la mañana en la puerta, un detallazo. Las escaleras un poco difíciles para personas mayores, pero por lo demás un 10, nos encantó.

Unser Urlaub und die Wohnung waren sehr erholsam und entspannt. Die Wohnung ist gemütlich eingerichtet, es hat uns an nichts gefehlt. Top Ferienhaus

Wir waren 14 Tage zu dritt im Ferienhaus mit unserem Kind (4 Jahre). Wir haben die Ruhe entfernt von Touri-Hotspots sehr genossen. Sportübungen/Yoga auf der Dachterrasse mit super Blick über Wüste und Ozean bis nach Lanzarote. Schöner Garten und windstille Terrasse im Erdgeschoss. Es ist alles vorhanden was man braucht, auch Sandspielzeug für Kinder und ein Boule-Spiel. Der Pool ist frisch und kaum von anderen besucht, super angenehm. Man benötigt definitiv ein Auto um zum Strand und anderen Orten auf Fuerteventura zu gelangen. Kleine Kritikpunkte: bei mehr als 3 Personen wird das Geschirr knapp und draußen (Terrasse/Dachterrasse) wäre eine Abendbeleuchtung toll. Im fußläufig erreichbaren kleinen Supermarkt bekommt man das Nötigste, er ist aber sehr teuer. Aber nach Lajares, El Cotillo oder auch Corralejo ist es mit dem Auto nicht weit. Wir waren super zufrieden und können das Gaus voll empfehlen!

Schöner Urlaub

Das Haus liegt in einer schönen und gepflegten Siedlung. Es ist geräumig und gut ausgestattet. Wie schon von anderen Urlaubern bemerkt, hätten wir gerne etwas mehr Geschirr gehabt, so dass man die Geschirrspülmaschine nicht so oft anmachen muss. Auch fehlten uns für den Esstisch ordentliche Stühle. Das hat aber den positiven Gesamteindruck kaum geschmälert. Es war jedenfalls ein toller Urlaub und der Norden von Fuerteventura hat seinen eigenen Reiz.

Winter abkürzen

Das Haus liegt wunderschön in einer großen Anlage sehr günstig am äußeren Rand. Der Blick kann ungehindert über eine weite Lavageröll Ebene auf Vulkankegel schweifen. Der Atlantik leuchtet blau dahinter. Es ist ruhig - die Strasse ist eigentlich nicht zu hören und auch die Nachbarn sind alle eher ruhig. Das Haus ist gut eingerichtet. In der Küche fehlt es eigentlich an nichts. 2 Schlafzimmer und 2 Badezimmer perfektionieren das Ganze. Vor dem Haus gibt es eine hübsche Sitzgelegenheit und der Garten hinter dem Haus ist auch sehr hübsch. 2 Liegen und Tischchen , um den Drink abzustellen stehen bereit. Die Dachterasse hat einen schönen Blick bis zum Atlantik und der vorgelagerten Insel los Lobos. Leider pfeift der Wind überall unentwegt und uns hat vor allen Dingen ein Windschutz gefehlt, um in Ruhe die Aussicht und die Zeit zu genießen. Für Wassersportler mit Surf / Wellenbrett perfekt. Es wird viel an neuen Straßen gebaut und die Beschilderungen sind noch nicht optimal .... auch das Navi weiß dann manchmal nicht mehr genau, wo es hingeht. Da alle Wege zu den relativ wenigen Orten führt, kommt man / frau dann auch irgendwie hin. Wir haben uns relativ oft verfahren, bis wir es dann mal gecheckt haben. An der Beschreibung zum Haus will Don nochmal arbeiten. Uns hat es sehr gut gefallen. Das einzigste Manko für uns, die gerne abends DVD filme schauen wollten, war der nicht funktionierende DVD Player. Das wird wahrscheinlich inzwischen behoben sein.
