Beautiful beachfront.

Nice spacious house, easy acces to beach, and excellent views. The huge kitchen was great. Host was very quickly to respond, when we had questions or concerns.

Amazing Guemes Island Getaway!

Our family and friends had a great time in this amazing property! The kitchen was very well stocked and the owners left us a welcome basket which was so thoughtful. The owners were very responsive when we needed anything. The views were incredible!

Great house, great location, lots of fun

We were a group of three families looking for a close-to-home weekend get-away and we were lucky to find this place. It's really easy to get to Guemes Island, the house was large and had everything you could need, including lots of fun for the teenagers and adults. The adults especially enjoyed the bocce ball and the teens really enjoyed the game room. The kitchen was the best stocked kitchen in a short-term rental ever.

Fabulous beach house - perfect for a family get together

My family of 8 had an incredible time at this beach house. First, it is perfectly situated 2 minutes from the ferry terminal - first class home with beach access and a quiet island setting. They have set this home up with so many things to do for all ages! Games, toys, puzzles - really, so much to do I could spend another 15 minutes typing. It’s a large home - very well maintained with tons of room and sweeping views of the water. This is one of those homes where the pictures sell it to you, but it’s actually better than the pictures!

Family trip to Guemes Island

This is a wonderful place for a family gathering! Everything is just about the same as the listing says. There is a game room that is exceptional for the entire family. The kitchen is full of equipment/dishes, glasses, pots and pans. We did have a little trouble with the stove top. It is induction and we did not have previous knowledge. Maybe a little information could be left near it to make it easier to use. The sleeping options were good. Plenty of space for all of us. We would recommend this lovely home on Guemes Island.

Beautiful island

Our stay at this house was beautiful! The house worked great for 11 people. Big kitchen, amazing views! Our only complaints were that it needs a little organiizing and cleanout. There is lots of stuff everywhere. Some darkening curtains in some of the rooms would also be helpful! The blinds were hard to work! They have everything you could possibly need to cook and have big family dinners! A cart would be amazing so you could walk on the ferry to safeway since it gets busy with cars in the summer. It’s a magical island and home though! So many good memories!

Perfect getaway

Our family (8 adults, one 1 year-old) enjoyed the house immensely. Bocce ball games, campfires, beach walks, a friendly pool competition and a WELL-STOCKED kitchen which allowed for gourmet cooking are just a few of the highlights of staying at this house. The house has many areas for large groups, and great nooks to hideout when you want some down time. Only thing to consider is owing to how well-stocked the kitchen is (every appliance, bowl, pot, pan etc.) there is little space to store the food you bring. We used the table and deep window sills in the kitchen nook for that. Very small inconvenience--it's just something to know. Will definitely consider coming again! One more thing, the owner is very quick to respond to your questions.

Magical Guemes Island Wedding!

We rented both the main house and the guest cottage as the “family compound” for our daughter’s destination wedding over on West Shore Road. We had an amazing week with perfect weather for our extended family of 12 people at the South Shore home - so well organized, comfortable and very clean! Very well set-up for a large group. The dining room table & kitchen nook were excellent meal time gathering spots; the back patio morning views with coffee was breathtaking! Weather allowed us great evening sunsets, horseshoe matches with some relaxing wine & snacks around the fire pit. The Weber gas BBQ provided the perfect meals - and everything you could imagine was available for meal preparation in the fabulous kitchen! Bonus was the game room for an occasional pool & air hockey tournament. The location was perfect and so easy to get to the General Store & Ferry. Make sure you do the Guemes Mtn hike — Killer Views! We would highly recommend a week here for your next family vacation! Thank you Trung for sharing your Guemes Island family home “Retreat” - Simply the BEST!

What a beautiful paradise this place is! Our vacation stay in Skagit County was perfect. There is tons of stuff to for the whole family. The game room is fantastic and the house is well-appointed with everything you could need. This is a trip we will remember forever and if we ever have the good fortune to return to Anacortes, we would stay here again.

Remarkable

This property is remarkable! It is so beautiful! We thought for sure we had the wrong property when we turned down the drive it was so gorgeous! The beach is lovely with boats coming and going. The sunsets were gorgeous each night. There was a large yard that was well equipped with a bocce ball court, badminton, a firepit, etc. It was terrific for our active family. The house was so wonderful! The kitchen is fully equipped. In fact, it is the most incredibly equipped kitchen I have ever experienced in all my years of VRBO! Everything you could think you would want was there! Everyone slept comfortably in the beds! In addition to the beautiful grounds is a game house, steps from the front door. Everyone was busy and happy here! The owners were friendly and helpful! It was so relaxing to be on the island away from our hectic lives. One recommendation is to leave about 30 minutes sooner than you think for the ferry. Chances are you will have to wait for one ferry. But that is part of the charm of the island.

Absolutely Perfect

The house is most extraordinary and met the needs of 5 adults and 3 children. Our time here was magical and the weather was perfect. The water view and access to the beach were the highlights. The huge front yard was great for bocce ball, frisbee, throwing football, etc. The huge ‘game room’ kept the children’s interest, as well. Lots of toys, games, books, etc. The beach kept us ur interest as we all looked for rocks and treasures. We were fortunate that the weather was good enough to eat our dinners outside around the big family table. Very Martha Stewart like. So nice to have A/C when it got a bit to hot. We took advantage of all the trails on the island, as well as, climbing Guemes Mountain. Loved just sitting and looking at the water and watching boats, ships, sailboats, seals, whales go by. The Best Family Vacation Ever!! Thank you for making our stay so memorable.

Another wonderful stay in Guemes

This home is a favorite of ours. We have been several times and my Grandmother has always wanted to go as well. She was up from Georgia and we took her and had an absolute blast. You just can't beat the view, beach access, proximity to Guemes Island General Store, and ferry. It's truly a wonderful home with everything you need in the best location for relaxing.

Perfect Spot

This property was a perfect spot for a family vacation, bringing together East Coast and Oregon members, ranging in age from 3 to 79. Between the main house, the guest cottage, and the game room, there was ample room, and everyone was comfortable with the options. As the host, Trung was readily available through email and very helpful. There were no complaints from our crew about our stay in this property.

Perfect for a big family holiday

The Guemes big house and guest cottage, in addition to the game room, was the perfect place to host our family holiday. The kitchen had every accoutrement necessary to cook giant tasty meals. You can't beat the view, and had easy access to the agate filled beach. Trung was responsive to communications and the experience was easy-peasy.

Amazing vacation

My brothers family and mine spent our first vacation together here at this house. The views were amazing and the house was just as advertised. Communication was flawless and we couldn’t have been happier. Our 9 children enjoyed the rare snow and really enjoyed the game room. We hope to spend some time here during warm weather as well. Amazing rental home!

Our stay was absolutely superb. The house is by far the most well-appointed we have ever found. It had absolutely everything we needed and more. The kitchen is amazing, with high quality cooking tools and every appliance you could dream of. The game room is stellar, and the toys & entertainment for our youngest kept her thrilled and busy all day, every day. And the location…! The quiet pace of the island, the water front view, the beautiful property and gardens… Everything exceeded our expectations. Can’t say enough great things about this rental home. Trung and family have set a very high bar!

Quiet location, awesome house

Perfect for a large family with kids. Not sure exactly how many it sleeps but a lot, especially including game room, and for very large gatherings, a cottage reserved separately. Very serene location, deer walking through yard, otters in water offshore. Communication with owner was awesome. A couple of minor glitches that were handled superbly. Guemes Island is a beautiful, quiet place but if seriously considering make sure to check out how the ferry works. You are at it's mercy but not a problem at all with minimal planning. Anacortes, the jumping off place for the extremely short ferry ride to Guemes, is also a very cool place with many great eating places and a magical store in the Marine Supply & Hardware.

Peaceful Getaway

A wonderful property, right on the beach for easy access to beautiful walks along the shore. Lovely decor, comfy furnishings, blankets galore for chilly evenings. The games parlor was a big hit with the family, as well as board games and plenty of opportunity to unplug and spend quality time. We loved every minute of our stay.

Beautiful view

It was so fun to watch all the canal activity, we even saw orcas! Everything was as described, and Trung was very sweet and communicative when we needed it. The house is thoughtfully designed and excellently constructed. The game room exceeded my expectations. The kids in our group had so much to do. We would stay again.

Cleanliness issues and extra fees

The house is nice and it's a great setting, but the cost per night ended up being more than twice the listed nightly amount, and we felt tricked by an extra fee. Before the stay I got an email saying an additional fee was due that same day, and paid it not realizing it was for an optional "games parlor." The owner refused to refund the games parlor fee after I explained that we didn't want it and would not use it (which we did not). He said there are no refunds. But the email just said "an additional payment is due" and not that it was optional. We certainly never asked for the add-on. There was also an "additional guest" fee, though there were only 4 of us in the large house. The cleaning fee is the highest I've ever seen for a vrbo. Regarding cleanliness, some of the silverware and dishes had bits of food on them, so we washed everything before using it. The dishwasher didn't work well, which may explain this issue. In addition the shower head in the master bedroom looked moldy and rusty and didn't work properly. So we resorted to the shower in the bathroom down the hall, which worked fine. Overall the stay was a costly disappointment.

Location never disappoints and home is great for families

We've now stayed here 3 times and it's been wonderful every time. The weather this time was perfect and felt like we were on a tropical island vacation! The house is great with everything you need, the games room is perfect for kids watching a movie while the adults play pool, and the yard and beach are perfect for relaxation. Just super duper!

Thankful for family time!

Quick ferry ride over to Guemes, our first time! This property was fabulous for our 3 generations to enjoy family time ~ the views, private beach to explore, the beautifully planted grounds (complete with the goats Biscuit and Bambi for the children to feed), ample space to spread out in the house (kitchen nook for 8, open floor plan with dining table for 12 and living room), best stocked kitchen of all rentals we been to with ample space for multiple chefs, the separate adjacent building game room (something for everyone - billiards, foosball, air hockey, crafting table, remote control games, puzzles, etc.), outdoor toddler riding toys. We can imagine the added plus of the backyard in the summer: doubling the eating, gathering, and playing spaces. We (2yr-60+ years) also enjoyed nearby Peach Preserve, as well as a short drive to the trailhead at Guemes Mountain for a hike (2.3 miles RT) through the woods to the top of Guemes Mountain with surround Sound views. Trung has been quick to respond and informative in all communications.

We love living in the Northwest for its abundance of natural beauty—the mountains, the shores, the waters. We are particularly fond of Anacortes, as its a portal to the San Juans and its easy to get to, and we find Guemes Island is part of those island beauties (only without the long ferry lines!).

We fell in love with this beach house, it's great for relaxing, quiet and plenty of fun things to do for all ages. It has an incredible 180 degrees southern uninterrupted views of Fidalgo Island, the Guemes Channel and San Juan passage—great spot to watch the parades of pleasure crafts, tugs and tankers. Lots of warmth and natural light! And we love the "island wave", folks living here are so thoughtful and kind and sharing, a wonderful community to be a part of! And we are thrilled to share it all with you.

From our beach house, you can easily walk to the ferry dock and explore downtown Anacortes, a lively coastal town in Skagit County offering fun local art galleries, antique shops and tasty restaurants. Located on Fidalgo Island, Anacortes was named after Anna Curtis, the wife of the early Fidalgo Island settler Amos Bowman. There is always an event to attend whether you enjoy the arts, beers or boats! Other interests on Guemes Island includes hiking Mt Guemes, a general store with bar and restaurant, Young County Park, School House Park with tennis and basketball courts, a community library, and Guemes Island Resort.
