Soundside Corolla Light

Great home and location with all the amenities of home. Just had to clean the spider webs off of porch furniture upon our arrival but we really enjoyed the wrap a around porch.

We had a fantastic stay! The interior of the house was beautiful and very functional for a family vacation! We really enjoyed the wrap around porch (including the hammock, hot tub and all of the seating). The beds were very comfortable, and it was so nice having an ice machine!! The house was also stocked with everything you could possibly need. The location was also convenient to the beach, the nature trail and sound. It was a great stay- wouldn’t change a thing.

Wonderful OBX vaca

This property was perfect for our stay in Corolla. Especially with kids. The house was beautiful, and the wrap around deck was so nice for the kids and adults to hang out on! Our host was very responsive and welcoming.The resort is great for kids, they loved riding. Their bikes to the sound and crabbing and fishing. The trolley picks up right at the house and brings you to the ocean front pool/restaurant and beach! It was a wonderful week spent at the chuckle hut!

Excellent stay!

We cannot praise our hosts and the house enough! The location is great, the resort sports center is a 5 minute walk away, and the sound-side trail & trolley stop are just outside the door. The MBR and Bath were recently upgraded and look very sharp. The rest of the house is well-cared for, thoughtfully stocked (both in the kitchen and with bikes and kayaks) and beautifully decorated. Communication with the hosts is very easy and they are fast to respond to any concerns. They are genuinely sincere in wanting their guests to feel comfortable. Thank you for an excellent stay!

Family & Friends

Our family and our friends from Northern Ireland stayed here for a week and it was the best beach house we have been too! It had everything you needed and Kristen ( the host) answer any questions quickly. The location and the amenities with the Corolla Light Resort perfect to kid 6 kids (5 to 11 years old) busy! We loved the different pools and the ability to grab a trolley to the different locations was so convenient with children. Highly recommend this home for your next vacation!

Great place for wheelchairs

We love this place! We have stayed at the chuckle hut for 2 family vacations now. We struggle finding somewhere that works for us because my son is wheelchair bound. You will have to go to the 2nd level for bedrooms, so plan accordingly. The 4x4 beach is literally 10 minutes away and another great place for a wheelchair. We always partake in as many of Corolla light’s activities as we can, since they’re fun and the staff is always really nice.

Wonderful Home

We had our family ranging in age from 83 to 5 and everyone had a grand time. The location of the house is close to both resort sound access, resort sound pool and resort trolly. We loved the nature path and the sound pool. The house was clean and well stocked. The big boys loved the hot tub. The older folks loved the hammock and swing on the porch. We set up a jigsaw puzzle on the smaller dining table. Seven of us fit comfortably at the dining table. The house is well stocked and very organized. When we ran out of fuel for the grill, the new tank was already there in place to finish cooking our meal. Kristen was upbeat and quick to respond. This was a wonderful home for relaxing and making memories.

THE Absolute Best

My family and I LOVED this house. The porch was a complete game changer….we spent so much time out there that we hardly ever wanted to leave the house! The house was clean and well equipped, the hot tub was clean, the trolley pick up is literally in the front yard, there were bikes available to use, the AC worked well, the bedrooms were decorated so nicely, and we loved all the family games that were available to play! You 100% will not be disappointed with this home!

Lovely Vacation Spot in OBX

We loved staying at the Chuckle Hut! The house is absolutely gorgeous and spacious. Kitchen is well stocked (better than most!). The wraparound porch is full of places to lounge, including a hammock and lots of Adirondack chairs. The hot tub is a huge plus. The Corolla Light resort is great and features tennis courts, ponds and a sports complex (essentially adjacent to the property). The beautiful beach is a 5-10min walk from the house. The reason for the 4 star "listing accuracy": the owners listed the indoor pool in the sports complex as an amenity. We happened to be looking at the sports complex website several days before our trip and noticed that a month prior, the indoor pool had been closed for renovations (and would be closed for an entire year!). The owners had not communicated this change to us, nor had they altered their listing to reflect that the pool was not available (again, this happened at least one month prior to our stay). When we asked about a discount for this change, we were told they do not discount for "out of season rates". They did offer to let us cancel the stay. As it was only three days before the trip, this was not an option for us. Since our stay, they have altered the listing. This should just serve as a warning that if there is a specific amenity you are excited to use, make sure you check with the owners that it's available. They certainly can't control what is available in the resort, but could have communicated the change.

Wonderful 2 family summer vacation!

We had an amazing week in Corolla! The house was perfect for our 2 families of 5 each. The house was clean and well stocked with typical kitchen necessities. The only thing we couldn’t find was pot holders or oven mitts to remove anything hot from the oven. But, it’s possible we just couldn’t find them. The kids loved the hot tub even more than the adults, plus the outdoor shower was perfect for after being at the beach. We loved having the trolley from the resort take us to the resort area where the pools, activities and beach access was! Definitely would stay again if we decide to vacation in OBX again.

Lots of Chuckles at the Hut

We had a great time this week. The house is spacious and comfortably chic for a beach house. It was well equipped with kitchen appliances/items, electronics, huge washer/dryer, and outdoor equipment. We felt as if we knew the owners as we enjoyed the many personal touches throughout their home. The location is amazing in respect to the resort. A trolley stops outside the front door to whisk you to the beach and pools. The Sound and its pool are are a short walk, as is the athletic center with a fabulous indoor pool. Tons of activities for children and adults, if you care to participate! Sunday traffic was horrendous for check in day. This Saturday to Saturday and Sunday to Sunday rental period creates a huge mess of renters (and residents) driving on one two-lane road, with many using suggested neighborhood routes, which makes things worse with merging traffic. Coming home today was a breeze. Phew!

Family vacation

Overall, a wonderful experience. Could use some updating such as more electrical outlets in the bedrooms, bar for hand towels in the bathroom and either walk-in shower or grab bar for shower tub. Beds were very comfortable and the floor plan was very amenable. We loved the veranda.

Modern. Functional. Beautiful Decor. Perfect location

We had two families, one family of four and one family of six. The house accommodated us perfectly. Had plenty to do for the children while the adults relaxed on the stunning porch. Had awesome amenities like a hot tub and outdoor shower. Had all the things in the kitchen we needed, even a stocked seasoning cabinet. The pride of a 2nd home ownership shines throughout. Loved that we were also conveniently inside the resort so we had additional things we could do, free of charge such as multiple pools, playgrounds, basketball/ volleyball courts, and fitness room. Would recommend! You’ll love it!

Excellent property well equipped quiet area and close to sound . Only complaint is the queen bed in room without powder room, Made loud, “crinkle” sounds when you sat on it or moved. Was not very supportive, thin and soft.

Light on side porch went out but not a big deal.

Had a great time would definitely rent again 🙂

Felt like home

We came to OBX for a Fall getaway. We LOVED the house and the location. The communication with Kristen was prompt and they were eager to make sure our stay was great. We came across a small issue and they were quick to try to get it resolved. The home was clean and had plenty of seating options on the porch that we enjoyed daily. The hot tub was clean and nice. There were kayaks to enjoy along with any other beach/fishing item you could imagine. We used the fitness center and the staff were great there as well. We'd absolutely LOVE to come back!!!

Great spot for the northern beaches

We had to make a last minute change because of a mechanical issue at the previously reserved VRBO condo, but this home was available. It turned out to be a blessing. This host was very accommodating. And we enjoyed the home very much. It was very close to the wild horse tour we had reserved, and close to the lighthouse and Corolla Park, where you can see glorious sunsets!
