Cosy, warm and humble cottage with everything you need and a break from the things you don't (T.V. and wifi!)
Really enjoyed the peace and quiet time away from the city, lovely local walks and gardens and a short day trip to Daylesford. Would come again! Thanks Lesley.
A Restful Stay
A charming & welcoming cottage, comfortably furnished with style & set in a quiet, tree lined street. Arm yourself with books, there are comfy armchairs, sunny spots to sit, bush walking to be done, gardens to visit & the sound of birds to relax you. You'll leave feeling re-charged, we did. Lesley was warm and easy to communicate with.
Dear Kathy, thank you for staying with us. Such a pleasure to have appreciative and respectful guests.
Cute with character
Loved this little house - the photos don't do it justice! Full of character. Blackwood is a very pretty spot in the middle of rolling forested hills. We were here on a freezing cold rainy day in January (!) and were thankful to find that the fire was easy to light and very effective (as was the split system heater). We enjoyed relaxing and reading in the armchairs in front of the fire.
Ironically this was in the middle of a terrible bushfire season and Lesley was very good about warning us of a nearby fire the day before and making sure we knew how to stay safe.
Minor possibilities for improvement would be more hooks on the walls/doors (there are no wardrobes and the bathroom is cute but tiny) and a more comfortable couch and a bit of a tidy-up of the garden.
Despite the rain, we enjoyed a visit to St Erth's garden. Also enjoyed pizza and wandering the gardens at the Cosmo hotel in Trentham. Had a really lovely weekend here. We look forward to coming back and exploring this beautiful area more in better weather!
Dear Karen, glad you enjoyed our place, it is a little slice of heaven close to Melbourne.
Sorry there are no wardrobes, but with bedrooms the size of a miners cottage, there is just no room to accommodate them. The bathroom is compact and cosy with everything at your fingertips - even a washing machine, which not a lot of other hosts offer.
Do come back again, the garden looks its best in Autumn or Spring, it's difficult to just the water in Summer.
We had a fabulous weekend at Blackwood and loved this cosy cottage. It was very clean, comfortable and full of character and charm with such a beautiful garden and sunroom! We had everything we needed for a recharging girls weekend. Can't wait to go back with the family and explore more of this stunning part of Victoria,
A much needed hug!
Ticking a 5k Fun Run off our bucket list, a best friend and I embarked on a girls' weekend away. Two mums in desperate need of "me time", a good laugh, a mud-pit or three at a fun run, and some rare peace and quiet, we found Martin on Main cottage located a short drive from our run in Myrniong and we were captivated by how homely and tranquil it looked. Upon arrival, the fire was set ready to go, but the warm, glowing sunlight in the gorgeous little sunroom drew us in and there we sat in peace, admiring the pretty cottage garden outside, with a hot cup or tea (or two) and a decadent block of chocolate to start our weekend. It was heaven! Our lovely host Lesley had given us a hot tip about the local pizza on a Friday night at Martin Street Coffee which was just up the road. And it was just divine! The locals were so fun and friendly and the coffee is definitely world class. The cottage was beautifully presented, clean, and oh so warm and cozy like a much needed hug! Hot showers, a mesmerising fire, comfy couches and warm blankets simply topped off a wet, wild and muddy day at our fun run, and these two mums couldn't have been more relaxed and peaceful. Before heading home we braved the Whipstick Loop bush walk (absolutely stunning!) and enjoyed delicious scones, jam and cream at the beautiful St Erth gardens and cafe. Blackwood is absolutely gorgeous, we loved it! Thank you Lesley for such a "cup-filling" weekend away for these two mums who truly needed the recharge! We will definitely be back again xx
