Great place to stay. Great neighbors always ready to help. We even had a friendly dog visit every morning! Highly recommend!
Thanks for your very nice review. You left the house in great shape, which we appreciate and you are welcome back at any time. Hope to see you soon!
I was in paradise for a week thank you
So glad you enjoyed Casa De Loma! I agree it's a special way to see Puerto Rico!
Casa de Loma Review
Overall we had a good time at this property even through the earthquake situation happening. We never felt a thing while we were there and there seemed to be no issues with the house when we arrived, either.
Although we were only there for 1/2 the time that we booked the house for, my family enjoyed the pool while I was able to utilize the WiFi for work. We had no issues with the hot water when we took showers.
The house itself needed a little more TLC. There were cobwebs on the gates and lamps. The toilet in the last room seemed to have feces on the seat, as I had to use their cleaner to clean it multiple times to remove the brown "dirt" from it. The couches, tables, and other items were dusty and the linens that were already on the bed had a weird smell, so much so my kids chose not to use them to cover themselves at night - good thing they brought long pajamas, as unfortunately mosquitoes still managed to follow us in the house when opening the door. We used some of the linens in the closet to cover our kids a few nights and to cover the couches so we could sit and watch TV.
We had issues with the lamp in the last room sometimes, as the electric cord was loose and we had to wiggle it so the light would stay on. We never figured out how to turn on the lights above the couches.
We had no issues when we called the house manager to help us clean out the bottom of the pool, as he came over that same afternoon.
The house was well situated as we were able to do a little food shopping at the Walgreens which is not too far away once you drive down the hill and we were able to go to Ralph's supermarket to get other items we needed like fruit, meat, rice, etc. There are also lots of fast food places around for you to eat if you don't want to cook, as well.
Apart from the TLC the house needs, we were glad to have a private place to stay while we visited the island of Puerto Rico.
Dirty, un-dusted and can not be trusted!
Booked this place 6 months in advance to stay Jan 1-8. We were very excited about staying here, I kept the VRBO page open in my laptop and looked at it all the time just waiting for our memorable trip to PR.
It was memorable, but for the wrong reasons. Within the first 5 minutes of being at the house I knew that my family and I could not stay there. The place was filthy, it looked like it had not been dusted in months. Their was dust bunnies and cobwebs everywhere, I mean everywhere. You and I both know that dust bunnies and cobwebs do not appear after a week or 2 of not dusting. They state you do not need AC because it is in the mountains and much cooler, I do not really believe that. One of the toilets had feces on it, the place was obviously not cleaned properly and the other toilet was leaking water from the bottom. We mainly booked it because of the pool, but when we went out trying to let our kids enjoy something that night only 3 of the 5 lights worked so I had to bring a lamp outside so I could see my kids swimming. I can go on and on about what was wrong with the house.
I instantly started looking for other places that we could stay for the rest of our trip. Trust me I do not just have extra money laying around to just waste on a second vacation rental but I was not going to let this ruin our vacation in Puerto Rico. I found a place and booked it. I apologized to my family and promised them tomorrow would be better and we would not be staying there.
The next day I took many pictures and videos before we left. We repacked everything and left at 10am. I immediately sent the owner an email telling him the situation and sending him a bunch of pictures and videos. He stated he was sorry I was dissatisfied and would give me a refund for the days I did not stay after he receives payment from VRBO. He then said he did not know why his property manager could not have fixed the situation in a hour or two if I would have given him a chance. I told him I believe the property manager had his chance to before check-in to make sure everything is in proper order.
So to be able to fit this all in the review, after a few weeks of stringing me along he now says he will NOT be giving me a refund and got a very nasty attitude with me. I am a victim, I lost out on a lot of money and do not want anyone else to go through what we did.
To the owner, you should be ashamed of taking people’s hard earned money.
We enjoyed our stay
Comfortable vacation home
We spent a week in this charming home. It’s location was convenient. The home was clean and comfortable. The pool helped make the home a great spot to relax and cool down in. My only suggestion would be to add AC units or a portable unit in the bedrooms. We found that there were times that it was cooler outside then inside.
Thank you for your nice comments; we are pleased that you had a great time.
Your comment about A/C is one that we have heard a few other times since beginning to rent the home in 2000. We know ( as we have stayed at the home many times in every month of the year), that there can be an occasional hot day. But this rural area, because of its altitude, is generally cooler than most of PR. Top that off with the large private pool, shady porch areas, lovely breezes and ceiling fans in every room, and we have found after more than 500 rental parties, that guests seem generally pleased and comfortable. Secondly, we have opted not to install A/C as it will drive up the cost for a rental significantly. We have two other rental homes near sea level and they do require A/C for guest comfort, but they rent at a much higher price. We do not want to raise our prices at Casa de Loma, as many families have told us they prefer "Summery" temps to higher costs. Make your next trip to Casa De Loma in January and you'll be pulling up the blankets at night to sleep! Thanks again for your comments and we do hope yo will return.
